Update on the Warcraft 3 unit project.
There is now Twilight Sparkle and Rarity.
Pinkie Pie + Anon Filly are coming up.
I think Anon Filly would be a great basic model to use as a woodcutter or builder harvesting unit.

The plan is I'll have Equestrian Guards using muskets or weapons, but I'm not sure how ponies could possibly hold a gun? I thought about just having the gun model placed near the pony to hold on his side floating OR to have them stand on two legs.

Make all Rifleponies unicorns and let them levitate their weapons.
Guns should be the least of your concerns, the real problem should be ponifying Footmen, since they use shields and horses dont have hands to use shields with
You can go for the lazy route and also make them unicorns. Alternatively just do what you feel like, these are your models, just make sure to give these models and animations good readibility so other players can tell what these models are doing
Would be silly to have your Footponies doing the defend animation with no visual clue

Thanks for playing! I was expecting it to be only a little longer than the first jumpmaze, but boy, was i wrong. I really didn't expect these later maps to take more than a hour to beat each! Maybe because lack of skill, or maybe extreme sleep deprivation, but we had to stop at map 25, so we finished 29 maps in total (incluiding the 5 intermission maps). Not bad! I'm not hosting this again.

It took a while to figure out how to get the textures working in the Warcraft 3 editor, but you simply delete the pathing text and make sure the map is loaded (sometimes you have to reload the map for the textures to appear).

the devs of Jump Space held a live talk earlier today and shared a bunch of information about upcoming features and content in both the short term (the update coming next week as well as the following updates) and the long term:
- multiplayer lobbies will have more management options, such as password lock and region indication. also the lobby browser will show more information, such as the selected ship and mission difficulty, among other things.
- all guns are getting buffed with more damage and range, particularly the shoulder-mounted railgun.
- ship weapons will also get rebalanced Soon™, with their DPS being made similar, and at some point they will no longer have upgrade levels.
- they did a lot of work to improve performance.
- the new ship that will be released into players' hands Soon™ is called Hammerhead. the HH will have more turrets and no weapon for the pilot unlike the existing ships. sadly the HH will NOT do collision damage.my disappointment, is immeasureable... a-and my day is ruined.
- soon, turrets will each have an individual control station that allows a player to control just that individual turret, this will expand the options that players have beyond the current gunnery station from which one player controls all turrets. this is part of the turret control rework which is critical for the HH.
- lots more info about other stuff that I'm not going to list here because it'll be too much. I can post my notes from the devstream if anyone REALLY wants me to.

I followed their advice, and things didn't work because I didn't bother to get a static IP. you know I tried. I didn't see anyone else try tho. you definitely didn't. AND NEITHER DID THEY.
someone even pointed out a hosting service that offered hosting servers for free. I was the ONLY ONE who ACTUALLY looked into it. I ended up not using it because that service demanded some info that I wasn't willing to give them, and then NOONE ELSE EVER BOTHERED TO DO IT, not even you. so all of us ended up playing on some pre-existing server that was hosted by a member of the long-standing eldewrito community (we were only guests from their perspective)

Spike with a legitimate, non-faked smaller collision box with proper first-person eye level and weapon parallax. He can squeeze into some places players shouldn't really get to, but he's slower, squishier, big headier, and can't jump as high. Higher chance to fall in some invisible seam on map geometry and enter the backrooms. He can also swim in puddles...

Changed UT defaults to suck less: SR40 boost is off, much smaller overall speed boost, tighter choke. Also has lag compensation for shooting and rubberbanding fixes for the speed boosts.

Not a hard dependency, but just a tiny patch for Spike's hitbox to not get fucked harder when NewNet/Lag Compensation is on. BallisticWeapons' lag comp already works for him without needing a patch if you're ever planning on using that.

I touched up the boxes since that webm: he's roughly the size of a crouching EqG, but can go a little lower when crouching. I made his crouch clip into the ground to make a visual difference between standing/crouching because of his stubby-ass legs; he's almost able to fit through those wall gaps in serpentine. I think a legit benefit would be being able to run in vents (assuming mappers haven't made those a precise standard size fit).

So, the filly gimmicks: Each filly is a stand-alone companion or can be selected as a group (CMC or DT+SS) with a selectable lead. Alt forms (when you use adrenaline or get double damage) are: AB/SC/SB -> CMC or DT/SS -> DT+SS, and CMC -> CMC (Roam) or DT+SS -> DT+SS (Roam), if that makes any sense. Also Gummy has a random chance value to spawn off Pinkies. You can select the roamers separately in the totally secret menu(PgDn x3 in the HudCompanion Main Menu).

Honestly, not too proud of them. I went back over all the skins and touched up a bunch, but the major visual issue is the bone weighting that I'm not skilled enough to do. It's a miracle that the weights transferred from San Andreas actually work the way they do. And all the skins now have higher polys in addition to not using UT2004s LOD levels, so your "Level of Detail" graphics option won't have an affect on these models. Since you've apparently got the most potato computer here, tell me if it makes a performance difference (it really shouldn't).

I feel the same about the doom skins, i've noticed a few problems i thought were fine or 'good enough^(tm)' that i might change later, or maybe not. The nature of the skins were always kind of goofy with the different pixel densities, artstyles and all that stuff, so i don't think it matters all that much.

it doesn't, and anyway now I'm using the high-detail character level; it doesn't affect my laptop at all, but it does on my desktop pc, and I've tested it and it doesn't change the performance at all.

The first thing I notice is that crashes are very rare compared to before, which shows that the crashes were caused by that old UTComp (I think there was something about that in the changelog for this WS UTComp), so that's great.
I tried it a little while ago and ran into a problem where the team-based colors on the skins weren't working, and the skin appeared without textures in the UTComp menu (and the colors for each team had no effect in-game), but I just tried it again and it works perfectly now with the new skins, Idk why but it works so that's good

Keep in mind there's a few ways to integrate it normal games beyond the "Only SSG modes": powerup mode (replaces a weapon spawner for a set time), SSG Spawn Count (permanently replaces X spawners), and Give SSG On Player Spawn (you could turn on pusher-only mode too here to have her as pure emotional support gun/utility).

Have you tried right-clicking? It's an alt-fire thing (which makes it just that more useless). There is a config toggle but it should be default true. There's one line you should probably remove: "Pick a mood for next time:". which is a pure test dialogue with four options.

The dialogue, firing, and reload animations are all client-side now (latter two only with lagcomp enabled); it feels a lot better.
Some configs were never hooked on to anything, now they are.
"Apply Knockback To Teammates" checkbox in the webconfig in case you don't want teammates gibbing each other into the ground with fall damage. There's a neat tech possibility here though: on super large maps you can "launch" teammates across the map. May be good for onslaught or breaking stalemates on Facing Worlds.
Added a checkbox for louder firing sfx for >>43248046 , it's +6dB but I can't really notice it. The engine is muffling it somehow, but it's there.
Some things to be aware about:
There's a non-zero possibility that a player can be hit so hard and slam against geometry that they "walked out of world!!!" and cause a segmentation fault, crashing the server (probably due to corrupted coordinates). If you want to avoid this, turn down "Knockback Force" to something like 0.15 (aka pussy bitch mode).
Unintentionally, SSG ignores enemy spawn protection, but I'm not going to bother fixing it because spawn killing is a certified Doom classic.
Rariflag, regarding your modpack, remember to package SpikeRace into it: clients who want to play him through the character selection menu need it. It's a bit weird, but if they just have Spike's upl when they launch the game, they'll get an initial "SpikeRace not found" error that will default their Spike to Jacob in-game regardless of any server setting. The weird bit is that clients with neither Spike's upl or SpikeRace will work fine, as they don't have a upl to fail SpikeRace at game startup, so if CharEnforce forces a virgin client to be spike, they'll just werk. Spike has to go full ass or no ass, never half-ass.

Nah, I meant that with auto-aim, the rocket might take a longer, unoptimal flight time, or target the monster on a ledge above and fly over. So it's only good for enemies below where you're far away enough from a ledge that auto-aim doesn't track, and not when you're below trying to hit enemies hanging over ledges above? That's all.

You dont really need to disable autoaim to exploit it. The rocket is super slow so you will be leading it without autoaim anyway. You can take advantage of the inf height explosive radius by hitting pillars/stairs. Demonsphere does it a few times in this duel (4mins vid)

ctf is played with zdoom 1.x rulz and the rocket explosion isn't inf height there. It's a lot of height, though. For ctf, yeah disabling autoaim helps with rockets but autoaim usually helps with the other weps. Skulltag era PvE wad with a hub map. You start in a base where you can talk with NPCs, buy stuff or start a mission. The objetive of the missions varies but it's usually about not letting the demons reach a literal deadline or destroy something. There are some item teleporters around the map that will help by teleporting/spawning resources like health, ammo, and new weapons once you finish a wave.

Seeing a wandering Applejack get caught unawares directly by a tank shell and turned into pink mist did something to me.
Thought about giving ballistic weapons a try for a change of pace? (Don't know if your computer can handle it, but can check that in instant action.) Comes with 4 styles that go from arena to more tactical shooter: different recoil and aiming types, movement, regen health/shields. Guns have ads, altfires, altmodes, firemodes, paintjobs, attachments, melees, dual wielding, and all that retarded shit, vehicle changes too. Downside is it may be too much of hassle to host/distribute, binding setup, no more UTComp, and SpikeRace mutator breaks stuff (may still be able to use the SpikeRace .u, just not the attached mutator that does a size/speed check/enforce).

While the rx 480-490 and 580-590 are popular for budget builds i was talking specifically about the low-profile cards (rx 450/460 rx 550 560 etc). Most of them are slot powered only so you won't need to buy a new power supply unit and will already be a massive jump from integrated graphics if you can get atleast a 2gb vram card and it supports dx12 and modern vulkan (with a few extensions missing because of hardware limits). It won't run anything you throw at it... well maybe it will if you use FSR and avoid raytracing and dx12_1/vulkan mesh shaders extension titles. Oh, you might also need to cap the max power from the gpu if you have a 230-250W psu and don't want to buy a new one. While it says 230W the motherboard railing has only a chunk of that. Usually in these simpler psus most of the power goes to the motherboard where the processor and your card will be, and that would be around 180W for the usual 230W psu. If you aren't confident on your psu quality you can assume it can only deliver 70-75% of that, so that leaves you with like, 130-135W on the motherboard railing.

I know it's a good idea but i was considering a dropin upgrade. In the budget side if you have the psu for this i recommend sticking with amd gcn4-gcn5 gpus because they are overall more power efficient and cheaper than the budget nvidia counterparts from the same era with more updated drivers and, if you are on linux, drivers that are still updated today.The low-profile ones are also easier to find for cheap because a few workstations like the dell optiplex series had them and sometimes corporations want to upgrade all their computers and the usually the IT guy gets to keep a few of these somehow. The rx (4/5)80 and (4/5)70 were relatively popular in the chinese crypto mining scene so i guess you might want to be careful with the origin of these specific cards.

Fortunately, if you are on intel core series or the amd fx series from the early 2010s, there might be better processors, even a gen newer, that uses the same motherboard slot as your current one. Try to get atleast 4 cores 4 theads instead of something like 2 cores 4 threads (two in each core) but aim to get a 4 core 8 threads. These old cpus can go very cheap. You might find them used for less than 10 dollars in your country and maybe even cheaper in the US. Server focused processors like the intel xeon ones are pretty good for this, just make sure to know which one you need (get one with avx instructions atleast, atleast ivy bridge gen if possible but sandy bridge is fine if you dont mind missing crypto instructions since it also has avx).

I have a similar setup but a little worse. The hd graphics 2500 is enough for playing the dreamcast emulator max fps at best but you can run a good amount of dolphin titles if you don't mind stuttering and play with the no sound clip hack/option. If you can't upgrade on the hardware side, one thing you can do other than disabling cpu mitigations is switching to linux because the drivers are infinitely more modern there (for these older igpus) and you will have access to i/o schedulers and cpu schedulers best suited for desktop and gaming use (see bfq and sched_lavd). Your biggest bottleneck right now is the memory.

I was thinking about hosting a tribes server for /mlp/ but i can't decide for which one.

The one in picrel. Released in 1998 but had support for 128 players on release with aggressive client-side prediction, de-ghosting and all that stuff to be able to play it in the 56K days. There's an hd textures pack from 2014 if you don't like the graphics. It's the most played one and you can find matches in comp settings everyday 8pm ET. It's known for the super absurd mods that adds a lot of classes and yadda yadda.

It wasn't as popular as the first game on release because it was floatier. A mod called tribes 2 classic saved the game by fixing that, basically. The models are incomplete anyways--the model project is going to be way more comprehensive and custom made.
Right now, Spike the Dragon, Starlight Glimmer, Sunset Shimmer, and Trixie are upcoming.

you will need to follow a few extra steps when installing the game, nothing hard. The game's default hud can't be resized but you can move it around your screen. There are many custom configs that add better looking textures and multiple scaled hud styles. The game doesn't come with the CD music but it's just 10 tracks in total. I recommend listening to your own music instead.

Depends on the mode. The most popular team game other than base is LT. LT basically is CTF with all the map stuff and only the light class allowed. You don't need to buy anything, just spawn and try to defend/attack the flag. LT maps are usually smaller as well.

Well... You don't need to keep pounding on the jump button for skiing in the first game because everyone uses an script now that lets you just hold the jump button for that. Learning the skiing routes, start actually hitting them airshots etc might be hard, but that's part of the fun.

One player hits a switch to open a passage or unlock a radsuit for his teammate in order for this second teammate to score. First team to score 5 points wins. The game mode was originally intented for 4 players but there were a lot of spinoffs for max of 4 FFAs, 1vs1vs1 etc. We will be playing everything independent of playercount because why not.
