I live for killing, because killing is my life
I kill for money, I don't care who lives or dies
$100000 for this retched fucker's life
One knife or bullet in his brain he'll fall tonight
I kill to survive
You're gonna die tonight
You see the death that this night has brought to you
You see the blood flow see the blade rip through
His corpse so cold and his eyes open wide
I got my cash
I don't care who lived or died
I kill to survive
You're gonna die tonight
Hunt him down, read his past
Find the way, to take his life
Deal was made, he was next
No escape, for him tonight...
I'm paid to shoot, to rip, to slice, any man's heart
I'm paid to finish any job I fuckin' start
And in the end, if down to hell I go
I'll make damn sure that I take down you too
I kill to survive
You're gonna die tonight
Hunt you down, read your past
Find the way, to take his life
Deal's been made, you are last
No escape for you, tonight...

>Living Sacrifice - s/t [might be too extreme]
Listened to the first song and skimmed through the rest, aside from the muddy sound and the slightly tuned down guitars this sounds like mid-80s Slayer, even down to the vocals. Now I do hear a BIT of the OSDM sound (shit like Possessed and early Death) but I think that's just due to how fast the riffing is; which to my ears is firmly rooted in thrash. (BTW that first song is fucking awesome, I'm gonna check this one out.)

I should throw in perhaps the most controversial nomination for 1991:
Metallica - The Black Album.
Why? It is the only Metal album to ever go Diamond is the genre's entire history.
>inb4 Linkin Park, AC/DC, ZZ Top, Def Leppard, Kid Rock, Guns 'n Roses, Van Halen
None of those bands' albums that went Diamond are Metal. Def Leppard stopped being Metal after On Through the Night, and the rest are either Hard Rock, Hard Alternative or Nu-Metal (that's a misnomer; it's not Metal).
>>
>>129234663
I don't know about that one.
>Why? It is the only Metal album to ever go Diamond is the genre's entire history.
And it's for this very reason desu. The Black Album is iconic, but it's also incredibly fucking well-known, well beyond your typical metal album.
>>
>>129235060
Iconic enough to go Double Diamond, in fact.
Neither Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Dio, Iron Maiden, Saxon, Mötley Crüe, Scorpions, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer nor any other leading Metal band came close. Metallica stands alone, and that's saying something.

Love it or loathe it, Metallica going Double Diamond is an achievement held by no other Metal band.
Only one that isn't Metal is Nothing Else Matters. Others do have Hard Rock elements in fairness, but it's majority Metal.
The following are entirely Metal with no Hard Rock elements: Enter Sandman, Sad but True, Holier Than Thou, Wherever I May Roam, Don't Tread on Me, Through the Never, Of Wolf and Man, The Struggle Within

It being metal isn't really the issue here. It's the fact that EVERYONE, even people who would not normally care about metal - know about and have probably listened to it. In my opinion it's even more of a wasted slot than Master of Puppets would've been on 1986's.

That is correct, but to my knowledge the nudity that's not taboo in central Europe is... natural, if you will. More natural, less sexual.

The point of the cover is that it has a provoking message conveyed. The girl itself is not really nude, because her sex is covered by the breaking glass. But I always thought the girl is prepubescent, it didn't arouse anything in me. It wasn't like she was a 19 year-old model

I have that EP. I have their Mistress Mistress 7" too. One of the few worthwhile nu-boomer metal bands to keep an eye on for a while. Their record has some really cool songs. The reverb makes the vocals unintelligible. I wish they'd lean a little bit more into being a WASP clone.

A natural continuation of the style shift the band took on the 1990 S/T. There's pretty much zero doom metal, though. This is stoner tinged hard 'n' heavy.

Nominating because there's zero actual death metal here, this is just thrash (wouldn't even call it brutal, their previous albums are much more intense) with some groove metal; and it's really, really fucking good thrash. Even better than I remembered it.

I agree with this, though. The vocals are definitely more aggressive than Tom Araya, but I still wouldn't say they quite reach OSDM territory.

This is what happens when Judas Priest is inspired by Korn:
https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=h4OEZgjqVOs
Does it fit the thread if one of the originators of traditional heavy metal is aping nu-metal? I have no idea.
anyways, here's a different more typical for priest song from the Tim Owens era:

Those 2 albums are frowned upon by some, but some songs, like bullet train, are great.

Forgot to mention, but some of you might be wondering why they would chase a new trend. Well it worked out very well for them when they did it with the Painkiller album (though that is kinda an evolution of their previous album in some aspects). That's regarded as one of the greatest metal albums ever.
I wonder if of the reason that people look unfavorably upon Demolition and Jugulator, is because they had Tim Owens for these 2 albums, rather than Rob Halford. His vocal range matched halford and he had a similar vocal style, but he wasn't the guy people were familiar with and you can tell it was someone else.

It doesn't sound like nu metal to me. They used some kind of fuzz tone on the guitar during the first 20 seconds, the only element out of place with JP's normal sound. They were probably just trying to add a modern touch to their music. Here's an example of a greater deviation from a band's classic sound to trying to sound modern for a 90s audience.

Well, Though the song it self is probably more like Groove metal, what i mean is Judas Priest immitating the trappings of Korn to some extent. The singer tries to sing like korn's singer at a few points, and one of the guitarists does the warbly dissonant clean guitars thing that korn liked to do.
Anyways I'll go check out that GnR song.

Revolution der neuen Zeit,
die würdigen Kämpfer des Blutes stehen bereit.
Alles, alles was wir sehen,
das muss fallen und vergehen.
Europas Erben müssen wir werden,
müssen wieder auferstehen.
Europa, heiliger Kontinent,
Arterhaltung, Rassenpflege, genetische Hygiene,
wir wollen Art und Linien erhalten,
Europas Zukunft gestalten.

Hermanns Geist lebt in uns allen fort,
Deutsche haltet zusammen, egal an welchem Ort!

This is a good album (with the first 4~ songs being the highlight, Rusty Cage and Outshined were fantastic) but I'm split on whether it should be allowed on the chart or not. Plenty of stoner metal and some doom, and unquestionable Sabbath/Zeppelin influence in their sound; but there's also a LOT of alt metal, and some of it's pretty fucking far from traditional metal.

Besides Master of Reality, this is probably the closest thing to a doom metal album you can get from the '70s. Good songs, even better guitarwork - but a poor production job. Sounds really, really fucking similar to early Pentagram.

Sorcery played solid Black Sabbath style Metal, but I'm glad you didn't call them Doom Metal because they weren't.
While Black Sabbath and the heavier side of Psychedelic Rock all played instrumental roles in forging Doom Metal as a genre, "70s Doom" is a myth propagated by insolent music journalists and clever record distros looking to turn a profit on nostalgia. No active, touring, recording Doom bands existed in the '70s. Pentagram's early material tinkered with Hard Rock, Psychedelic Rock and Heavy Metal and Bedemon's demos never reached a wider audience until they were bootlegged in the '80s. Doom Metal proper started in the '80s, a decade that bequeathed Tyrant (who later became Saint Vitus), Trouble, Death Row/Pentagram, Candlemass, Cirith Ungol, Witchfinder General and, for the sake of argument, Pagan Altar. These bands can be safely considered the origin of Doom Metal. The few obscure "Doom" bands (besides those affiliated with Candlemass and Iron Man) people name drop from the '70s lack so many of the qualities seen in the bigger bands.

>but I'm glad you didn't call them Doom Metal because they weren't.
I think the last song on the album was, but the rest of it was just undertones imo.
>Cirith Ungol
Those guys started out in the early '70s and had two demos (and calling The Orange Album a demo is a pretty big stretch) out before their 1981 debut. I wouldn't group them in with the rest of those bands, especially since they only have one doom album in the classic run (King of the Dead) and they're not really similar to any bands here besides Trouble.
