Any idea whatever happened to Lorde? She was everywhere in the 2010s, but she couldn't have less relevance these days.

Melodrama came out almost a decade ago
after that, she literally had zero hits or critical acclaim
>>
>>129301171
I know her most from South Park's parody. At that time, I deliberately avoided public places that played commercial slop, and if I was exposed to her music, it went in one ear and out the other. Only other fact I know about her is that she chose not to perform in Israel. Pretty based.

>>129301133
I learned last week that she's not Madonna's daughter. wtf
>>
>>129301133
She’s so irrelevant, even for the Grammys 2026 standards
>>
>>129301133
Her legacy rests on the debut (normies), which appears to be the type of record that spawns fresh Tiktok hits to this day, and the 'shouldabeen' favorite Melodrama (wpopfags). Both are good albums from someone so young.

Everybody was ready to give last year's punished Lorde a new chance after Solar Howler but the rollout was somehow even more cringe this time around. And the songs just didn't deliver. It was quite refreshing to see people who otherwise praise everything concede that this was sauceless.

Turns out that no one wanted Adult Lorde and her dimwitted musings on gender and Growing Up. Her attempt (not too dissimilar from your favorite MR) to rebrand as some sort of club kid casualty fell flat. Much like with child actors, past a certain age precocious always tilts into pretentious.

Tour did surprisingly well, but people mostly came for the Pure Heroine numbers. It's nice to see Royals slowly being overtaken by other songs on streaming though.

people didn't like solar power
now she makes songs about how she regrets being a whore
>>
>>129301133
Her debut album was something special. She came out of the gate with a developed public persona and great music to match. Somewhere along the way she completely threw it out the window to chase trends and do it worse than everybody else. I’m still pissed about it
>>
>>129301847
The mixes were sparse and the synths were in your face. Very unique album even for today.
>>
It's because the bitch stopped putting out. She needed to be taught a lesson.
>>
>>129301133
Awful music
When the best thing about you is your feet your career isn't gonna last long
>>
>>129301847
I love her 1 hit wonder song. I still listen to royal, It's a shame that she doesn't have any more hits.>>129301847
She did try to follow trends, like dressing as a stripper on stage or making autotune slop, when she was actually ment to make records where she actually signs on them.

She's currently ranked as the 244th most played artist in the world on Spotify in the past month with 27M monthly listeners, #62 solo female artist
Taylor Swift has 105M monthly listeners for reference, Lana Del Rey 63M and Charli XCX 30M
She's fallen in the sense that her recent albums have flopped but she was never that huge to begin with, just a big talent for her age
Most people only remember her as "that Royals girl" and would have a hard time mentioning any other of her songs if you held a gun to their heads

Her last album reached #2 on Billboard so it's not as if people stopped listening to her music.
She's doing alright.

Your local bar band could hit #5 on the album charts lmao

My local bar band has 25 monthly streams on Spotify but I'll pass on your industry secrets, cheers.

You just had to stick that in, didn't you? My own fault for being too aggressive. Good post either way. I'mma keep this line:
>precious always tilts into pretentious

I'll be honest, I'm not too familiar with Lorde apart from select songs, but she never impressed me too much. Of course, I was a very different person in the 2010s, so my palate wasn't calibrated for her. Everything about her felt...off, for lack of better word, and if her current musings about social issues are anything you describe, then I'd be even less inclined to check her out.

She's still 29 wtf, how, feels like she should be older, she's been around forever

Came here to say this
>>
>>129315261
She got started in her teens like Swift did.
>>
>>129312602
What was that?
>>
>>129301133
She was never hot and tried to show her ass for clout but it was already too late. If she had big booba like Billie she would still be relevant
>>
>>129317959
What Was That hit #36 in the US
>>
>>129301171
This was the album that made her fall off. It was mediocre as sin.
>>
>>129301133
Never heard her music, no interest in doing so, but I appreciate how she proved disc rot is a meme by releasing a 100% pre-rotted CD.
>>
>>129301133
Just another flash in the pan, flavour of the week. Chappelle Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie, and everyone else at the Grammys this week will be forgotten in 10 years just like she was.
>>
>>12932193
Give it a shot.

>>
>>129301133
She kept going years in between albums, so by the time she released an album, she had always lost all artistic and social relevance, so she was always at square one. I don't know why so many artists think this is okay. Artists used to release one to two albums a year and that's why they were able to grow. I can't find one artist who does that now, and it's worse with female artists for some reason.
>>
>>129306294
lmao you believe this shit? she had one hit over a decade ago. nobody listens to her. every stream is a bot, every purchase is her buying her own shit with her trust fund
>>
>>129305520
You glow.
>>
>>129321935
Can you say that in English? I don't speak brain rot.
>>
>>129321935
>>129322926
Apparently, her new CD is transparent which is causing issues with playability.
>>
she posted pussy to make interest
it pussy is not interest
>>
got my bike stolen at a Lorde concert like 3 months ago. Pissed
>>
Making some music. Getting paid good. Then fucking off forever. Seems like the dream. I wish I didn't need to be relevant because I was already rich. I wish people would ask these questions about me. I don't want to work anymore.
>>
>>129301133
If I had to guess, I'say she found good dick + good money and is living comfortably, which is detrimental to musical creativity.
>>
>>129301133
She is Aging. The same is going to occur to every pop artist (except for taylor swift)

Taylor Swift is unironically a more successful pop star than every single one prior to her
