This is a literal (not figurative) Rolling Stone list
>>
>>129315870
hendrix was actually only slightly better but clapton's nuclear level of racism made it so that he couldn't even accept that.

There is no 'greatest' or "best"- only favorites

The GOAT is Scotty West - Absolutely Understand Guitar

>You're welcome

But Doyle Bramhall II, Eric Clapton, Slash, Angus Young & Stevie Ray Vaughan are definitely on the God Tier list. Just you fuckers are too young (and like too shitty of music) to know any better.

Incorrect. I let my ears form my opinion. The man is clearly skilled at the guitar, has significant chops, is very emotive through the use of the sounds of the guitar and in the context of his moment, a very important player. You subjective interpretation about his music says more about you than it does him.

I think we're forgetting someone.

the answer is chuck berry

No one can hit more notes per second than Herman Li! There, I win!

Kawabata Makoto was top 5 guitarist in the world circa 2005-2007 but at some point he just sort of gave up. He's still killer live, however. Does Europe and the U.S. every year, everyone here should see him at least once.

>>129314497
I don't like any of these. They didn't make the type of guitar music I like. I can appreciate them introducing novel musical elements and techniques, but it doesn't make their music any more appealing to me.
>>
>>129314497
I wouldn't put a rank
Hendrix was great but only at that particular style he had

- Hendrix
- Paco de Lucia
- Van Halen - tho i find his style/music kinda glib and shallow, he was technically impressive
- Page and Slash were good in that particular soulful bluesy style, both sloppy players but great feeling
- Cobain - I liked his creative use of feedback and noise to create this manic sonic tapestry of wailing tortured notes
- John McLaughlin and Al Di Meola for the jazzy but soulful style that was more than just note wankery, even if they indulged in that too
- Bernard Butler - his work with Suede was just one of the 90s peaks
