who could be mad at David Byrne for teaming up with blacks?
the usual critique is that whites who join with blacks tend to take on black personality traits (rather than other way around) because blacks tend to have more outgoing, self-assured outward personalities.
but David Byrne had pretty much the same proudly anxious, neurotic, shy (i.e., white) personality he had after as before.
it might be guys like Anthony and Flea from RHCP who could be accused of taking on a more fake loud, outgoing, self-assured (I.e., black) than they naturally had so their black friends and touring partners (George Clinton, etc) liked them more.
