Not joking about that earlier post. The Clooney sisters began singing on a Cincinnati radio show as kids because their dad was a useless drunk and they needed to make some money as they couldn't pay the rent and were being threatened with eviction. They eventually got noticed by Tony Pastor who offered to take Rosemary in his band. Betty wanted to come too though he didn't want her as he only needed one singer and she was 16 and required a chaperone but eventually relented.
