this, OPs pic reminds me of like Death Magnetic, they went back to black metal shit just to go back to it, it has none of the moments that make deafheaven Deafheaven, just straight soulless metal. Where are the pretty interludes and shit?

Nothing beats being 18 when Sunbather came out. Pinnacle of music for me. Slight agree with the Death Magnetic comparison. I liked Infinite Granite more. LPWP is the first album that doesn't feel like progression, but I still like it.

There are no MOMENTS in this album.

>Sunbather's very 1st song is memorable for having multiple great moments/transitions, involving tempo and mood changes.
They then sprinkle in similar moments throughout the album (Sunbather and Vertigo)

>OCHL starts the same way. Beautiful, memorable ballad before we get into the album.
Glint being the climax of that album. Strong buildup to that BANGER of a Bridge and guitar riff (you know the one)
Certified KINO MOMENT

>Even New Bermuda differentiates itself within the 2nd half and Roads To Judah(their very 1st album) established that they were set out to experiment around.

Lonely People With Power doesn't do too much to experiment. The whole album stays the same level of tempo/mood/sound and the few moments they do stop and take a breather it feels like nothing.
There's no landmarks or points of interest.
Doesn't mean its a "Bad" Album. Its a SOLID one.
But no where close to exceptional like the other examples.
This is a band that usually tries to experiment outside of the typical black metal sound. Orchestrating musical experiences and waves.
Here, they simply set out to do a straightforward album. Nothing more, nothing else.
Therefore, Solid.
