I don't really follow his career too closely but listening to his most recent album GNX, why does he sound like a retarded leprechaun on nearly every song now? And sure people on here will say his voice was always annoying, hardy har, or that he's always had done weird voices but it wasn't on this level before. It's like he's trying to rap with peanut butter in his mouth, and does that choppy out of breath flow instead of that smooth continuous flow of bars
Is it just because he did it for Not Like Us, and it worked because it was such a huge hit so he decided to do it for a whole album? It's really annoying and this shit sucks

>why does he sound like a retarded leprechaun
because he is one, he just couldn't get away with it earlier because it would push away potential new fans, so he held himself back. but he knows people who are already his fans will eat that shit up and he has decided that he has enough of them now.

to further elaborate on Not Like Us, it's an LA sounding song, that's why it was over within the first 5 seconds of it, because Drake doesn't have a regional sound that he can lean back on. The regional sound carried on into gnx

Well that shit is still trash and I don't understand how anyone thinks it's good. Hopefully he ditches it for his next album

Because you're not from the region, it's for people from the region even though he's a global artist, everyone else is extra.
I also hope he does something different for the next album

OP have you not been paying attention to the current state of the music industry?
the meta is making "ragebait" songs that illicit reactions of cringe and mockery from the general public. the meta IS being meta, performing an extremely exaggerated, satirical version of what people expect.
>life of a showgirl
>katseye
>sabrina carpenter
>addison rae
these are not rappers but they are a part of the same industry trend you observed in GNX.
Yes, the point is to make "bad" music. The point is to farm engagement from the public. These are CELEBRITY musicians. Not "just" musicians. There is an aspect of celebrity and engaging with the public that people are missing.
Look at recent projects from big artists/labels through the lens of satire and you will understand.
