I have done around 500km with maybe 150km of them on single/double track with my spd pedals
I havent fallen once cause I couldnt unclip in time, althought I did fall over once because I didnt commit while going in sand, I did unclip but I just fell over sideways in the grass

there must be something wrong with me because I fully expected to fall when I switched to clipless but I haven't done so either at the start or since. I've even crashed on pinned flats due to hubris and had to go to the ER for fractures, but I haven't had any issues with clipless. maybe that's a sign I grew too dependent on retention
then again I have more lifetime bike miles than driving miles so maybe cycling is just a more natural feeling for me
on the other hand driving ain't hard either, cageoids seem to think driving with a shift knob is like PhD neurosurgery but it's never been a problem for me when I rent a cage when I go to some place with shitty public transport like Europe and they offer me a chance to rent for only $29+300 eurboux in surcharges a day instead of $35+300 eurobux, I'll jump at the chance to rent for less in exchange for having one hand tied up working the gears instead of jerking myself off for being a superior form of life

This literally becomes a reflex right away. The only issue I can imagine someone having is if you run the slotted cleats with straps on one of your older bikes but clipless systems otherwise. For me tho: Even that's never been an issue, somehow you instinctively know which of your bikes has which systems, even when your reflexes get in the pilot seat.

I don't know about those actual numbers but it's true that the downstroke is the most powerful phase of the cycle. Just look at the leg muscles and ask yourself why your shins or your hip extensors should be even remotely as strong as your glutes and quads.
Just because some muscles are stronger than others doesn't negate the value of clipless.

With flat pedals, you automatically push down with both legs a bit, to keep your feet on the pedals. So you don't pull up with cleats, but there's still a performance benefit cause you can take all the weight off the pedal that's going up.
Also, you can put all your strength into the pedal only if you aren't afraid to slip.
Properly adjusted clipless pedals keep your foot always in the perfect position for power transfer, and the stiff sole increases efficiency and reduces loss through flexing.
Finally, you can pull up for a little extra torque when necessary, to force yourself up the steepest hill, or win a sprint.

And the best place to have a deadly accident is an intersection. So be sure to clip or strap your feet to the pedals so that you can't easily put your foot down when car driver does something retarded. That way you can fall over in the middle of an intersection where the garbage truck driver can't see you and runs you over
The human legs are biological system not an engine. They are designed for a work-rest cycle. So the fact is that even olympic level cyclists do not pull up constantly

Your post is absolutely retarded. Clipless solved the problemy you're citing.
Pulling up is a stupid myth too. No one does that shit and if people fall for the myth and try to focus on doing so the only changes they are making is that they now always have to ride consciously and also might hurt their joints because guess what: Ever since humans left trees their legs only ever faced compression forces as selective pressure. Pretty sure evolution since made enough changes for those joints to now be compression only.
Clips and clipess have nothing (or very little, save for situations when starting in innappropiately large gears or climbinv very steep) to do with pulling up. But without you can hardly even sprint. I would rather argue going with neither clips, clipless or fixielarp-straps, is the actually dangerous idea ever since clipless solved the slotted cleat:
Say its raining out, maybe some ice slush and those kinds of conditions. Pedals become slippery, cold makes the soles of shoes a bit harder, ice and grime gets in between shoe and pedal, you sprint for a bit, dang now your foot slips off the pedal, slams into the ground at 50, pedal bites you in the calf but that doesnt matter since a split second later youre a complete trainwreck anyways.

its only worth if you are trying to race or training for some event.
watch some vids on riders doing the same course with both pedals. Its usually less than a 5% gain. Not worth for commuting around people/cars

I used to clipless then I got into an accident and now I only leave it on my trainer but honestly flats with pins feels almost just as sticky. Even annoyingly so because you'll get into a bad foot position and it's a lot harder to adjust because your damn foot keeps getting stuck in the pins.

pins can get bent and stuck in the pedal. or the nut can rust in place and be hard to remove since its captive to the pedal.
so I run the pins shallow to stop the tips bending, to stop the nut from rusting in place a tiny bit of blue loctite helps, otherwise oiling or greasing the threads works.

If you're harming yourself with your fad diet, then you have bigger problems that a theoretical improvement in pedaling efficiency. Also, it matters no more in climbing than any other form of cycling. It's basically just a comfort thing to allow people to push down on their whole foot instead of dealing with pressure spots from pedals. The shank in a lineman's boots doesn't enhance his "climbing efficiency", it just makes it comfortable to climb. Same with stiff shoes.

That's comfort, not mechanical efficiency in power transfer. It helps you not overwork stabilizers and keeps your form better longer. That's not a direct mechanical efficiency boost, it's just an effect of staying comfortable. Literally the same thing as lineman shanks or not having an uncomfortable saddle. Also, I rode ~42 mi today.
