I recently bought myself a gravel bike, and I think I made a mistake with the size choice. I'm 178 centimeters tall, and I bought size L. I chose the bike for bikepacking trips. Please tell me, how badly did I mess up, and is there anything that can be done?
I already tried replacing the 80 mm stem with a 70 mm one with a 35-degree rise, but it's still uncomfortable.
If I move the saddle forward, my arms get tired; if I move it back, there's pressure on my crotch.
I don't know what to do. Bike was really expensive, and I am really upset.

I would try reducing the stack instead. Dropbars above the seat level are incredibly uncomfortable for me because I can't make the reach in the more upright riding position. Generally speaking going up a frame size or hardly fitting into the larger frame size is usually a bad idea since cranks and handlebars will be too long too so returning it might be smarter than changing every part of your new bike.

I can't return it. The only way to get money back is to sell it... But... That sounds like shit.
Why did they say this bike will be OK for 172-182?

They're allowing for weird body types not people who have no idea what they are doing. Contact their customer service and see if they'll do a swap, you might be surprised how little they care about rotating one slightly used bike into their demo fleet.

The reach doesn't look too unreasonable given your height. I would suggest playing with both fit/setup AND your riding technique. Have you used a drop bar bike before? Are you keeping a flat lower back. Are the balls of your feet over the pedal axle. What about the tilt of your bars?

Well, I have a few times on a horns, but this is first bike of my own.
And there is a problem with pedal axels. My knee is ahead of the pedal axle when the crank is at 3 o'clock
Lower back is flat... More or less.

It's strange, that 178 is a "manlet" for you, but I don't give a shit about it.
That's a size chart, and it says that my size is L. And my hight is exactly at the middle. That's why I bought it, not because I want to buy a "big bou size"

Ignore the shitposts brother, /n/ has been under some sort of low level raid for a month or so. The size you want is either S or M, and you want one or the other based on factors that you need to ride the bike to appreciate. There is no way you make yourself fit a large in any acceptable way.

Ok, what do you think of this one? The M size.
I am 178 hight, and going to ride long bike trips.

You bought completely the wrong size. Road bike fit requires precision. Don't skip reach and stack. Do all the measurments.

>I will try 60mm stem anyway.
Figure out where your hands should fucking be FIRST.

By performance road it is.

Whatever it is, it's wrong. Show them one of the other countries sizing charts, that's a little more reasonable when you beg for an exchange or swap.

Why? Look at the Effective top tube height, that's really long.
I'm 181cm and my bikes are usually either Large/53-54cm top tube length and it still feels like it's too large for me. I also apparently have weird proportions (shorter legs/long torso) which makes the exposed seatpost really short.
Try buying compact dropbars (short reach) or 0 offset seatpost.
Long story short, try out the bike before buying it.
>but I'm buying online
Try a bike with similar geometry from your LBS
