Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney warned Friday that a decision on who owns Greenland doesn't belong to U.S. President Donald Trump.
“The future of Greenland is a decision for Greenland and for the Kingdom of Denmark,” Carney told journalists at a press conference in Beijing following talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Carney urged NATO allies including the U.S. to “respect their commitments” as he stressed Canada’s support for Danish sovereignty over the strategically vital Arctic island, which Trump has threatened to seize.
"We are NATO partners with Denmark, and so our full partnership stands," Carney said in his first remarks on the intensifying diplomatic brouhaha. "Our obligations on Article 5, Article 2 of NATO stand, and we stand full-square behind those."
The issue of Greenland has come to the fore again thanks to Trump’s escalating rhetoric on U.S. interests in the Arctic, which has sharpened tensions between Washington and the EU.
Denmark and several allies announced this week that they would step up their military presence in Greenland.
A day after Danish and Greenlandic foreign ministers held talks with senior U.S. officials in Washington, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the EU has "doubled down on investments and supporting Greenland" and that the bloc would “continue our work on Arctic security with our allies, our partners, including the United States.”
Carney said Greenland and Arctic sovereignty also featured in his discussions with Xi, adding that he “found much alignment of views in that regard.”

Some day, this will all be in the history books, and the question that will be asked most by the children of the future will be "What the hell were the Americans thinking?"
And my answer to them will be "Not much at all."

If Trump wants Greenland or any other iceburg those fags should just give it to him. Do they want peace or are they warmongers?
That Carney fag needs to go back to the carnival hustle. The bitch ain't gonna hustle the USA.

A tweet from Nick Schifrin (@nickschifrin), a Foreign Affairs and Defense journalist.
>NEW:
>@potus letter to @jonasgahrstore links @NobelPrize to Greenland, reiterates threats, and is forwarded by the NSC staff to multiple European ambassadors in Washington. I obtained the text from multiple officials:
>Dear Ambassador:
>President Trump has asked that the following message, shared with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, be forwarded to your [named head of government/state]
>“Dear Jonas: Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America. Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a “right of ownership” anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also.
>I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland. Thank you! President DJT”
Is this guy going to start a war because he didn’t get a participation trophy?

>>rape is when the US provides 70% of NATO defense funding and sets strategic boundaries to prevent future Ukraines
Yes. Exactly. No one ever forced the US to spend so much on NATO or on its military. And now the US is using that to justify its aggression. It's a rapist mentality. “I did the dishes every day this week without you having to ask me, so you can at least give me a blowjob even if you don't really feel like it.”
>>
>>1479274
>No one ever forced the US to spend so much on NATO
but that's not true. we haven't forgotten about our friends in nato throwing a shitfit over ukraine funding. europe wants the benefits of a us alliance but isn't willing to take the necessary steps to ensure a more democratic global order
>>
>>1479275
Again: no one can "force" you to do anything. If Biden had said, “We can't afford to give anything to Ukraine,” there would have been grand speeches from Macron and whoever the German chancellor is, but that's all. No “punishment,” no trade repercussions or anything else. The United States invested because they believed it was the best way for them to protect their interests. But no one held a knife to their throat (except perhaps the Russians).

europe can't apply force because they are totally reliant on the us for everything. only now does europe begin increasing its own defense commitments. they're going to have to make sacrifices to their luxurious lifestyles if they're serious about preserving the future
>>
>>
>>1479277
Okay, so we're back to exactly what we were saying before: it's a rapist mentality. “My wife doesn't work, she'll have to make sacrifices for her luxurious lifestyle.”
I really like how the US tries to present itself as the strongest country in the world and at the same time as poor victims of the European ogre. When you point out the obvious contradictions in this way of thinking, they quickly revert to “do what we want or suffer the consequences.” Rapist or bully mentality.

it's more like the us is in a relationship with a bpd hoe that's actively been attempting to sabotage the relationship. and now that the us is asking her to contribute to the relationship, she's started making false rape allegations

No one thinks they can defend Greenland with a hundred soldiers; that's not the point. The idea is that now that there is a military presence from various European countries on Greenlandic soil, in the event of an attack by a third country, several countries could invoke Article 5 of the UN Charter. If Denmark alone complained, its request could be dismissed on the grounds that it is a “small country.” But if France or Germany did so, or even both, along with other countries, the UN would be obliged at the very least to listen, if not to act. On the other hand, this would force the US to go to war not against Denmark but against Europe. Which, even from a purely domestic policy perspective, makes things a little more complicated.

Nothing ever happens and I refuse to believe eurotrash actually cares about this. Denmark probably does because they’re stalling for more money or something, but this is propaganda on both sides in America and European saber rattling over getting their populations riled up to prepare for Russia (only to beg the US to enter the war anyway)

To use your metaphor: the guy can leave. He can break up and go find another gf or even stay celib for a while. The law does not force anyone to stay in a relationship if one of the two is unhappy, or feels manipulated, or whatever. On the other hand, what he CAN'T do is rape his gf and say, “Yeah, but you're a bitch.” Legally and morally, that's indefensible.
The United States has NEVER been forced to remain in NATO or any other alliance treaty. If the United States had wanted or wants to leave all the alliances it is part of, it can do so, and no one on earth would think for a second about invading the sovereign territory of the United States. The fact that the US uses its continued membership, strategic spending, and geopolitical choices as justification for its current warmongering rhetoric is neither legally nor morally defensible.

>wait a minute, why are we spending/contributing more to this than every other member combined?
>pony up paypig
>no, time to give us a return on this investment
>reeeeeee stop being a bully how could you
Honestly, people are sick of Europeans whining and I genuinely would not be shocked if the US and UK formed their own partnership and abandoned the continent entirely. France and Germany can team up if they want, Americans don’t really give a shit about Russia anymore and view China as the main threat. If you want to kneel to Beijing, go ahead.
Either way, I still refuse to believe Europeans actually give a fuck about this.

It's more like the husband has had a stroke and now suffers from dementia and violent mood swings. All his previous family menbers and friends are waiting him out and hoping he makes a rapid recovery in 2028. Stop waving a gun around and demanding your next door neighbour's garden is yours. Get well soon USA, we care about you.
