I recently purchased these 3 position slip joint pliers, and I really like them. It's a copy of a more expensive Snap On model. As far as I'm aware, Icon and Snap On make the only two models of 3 position slip joint pliers on the market.

I had some knipex slippers at work, but they might be more than just 3 position, having that toothed adjusting system like on the cobra pliers.

I managed to snap one of the claws off a clamp like that, hit me right underneath the eye and gave me a black eye for a week.
Was a brand new clamp too, first time using it.
Shit flew off like a bullet, I didn't even realise that it snapped before it hit me in the face.

need a 3" in/out offset inlet muffler but there is going to be a tight clearance between the inlet and the body of the muffler, anyone know a good one?

also straight-through only, no chokers and boomer tin cans.
>>
>>28826752
Ouch. Yeah, you definitely don't want to cheap out on these things, especially if you do suspension work regularly. If I did this sort of stuff more often, I would definitely consider getting a Hazet safety spring compressor, it's has a good design and it's made in Germany. It's a little pricey, but as an investment definitely worth it imo. The compressor I got has safety lock pins on each claw, so I think I should be fine.

honestly some spring setups unironically need a in-wall professional shop compressor

had to beg a buddy of mine to use the one at his auto shop when i did the front shocks on my nissan frontier, the front springs were tall and stiff with next to no room for claws once fully extended on the strut

I am such a fucking dumbass. I am nearly done with a Serpentine belt installation for my 2014 Honda Civic EX but i am stuck on putting the rubber on the last pulley. I have velcro for one portion of it but i need to find a easy way to secure the other rubber to another pulley so i can finish it.

Any easy way to secure the A/C pulley so i can finish putting the rubber on the alternator pulley?
>>
>>28827576
Did you use tensioner as described in the technical documentation
>>
>>28827620
I am double checking. I think i will use Painters tape since it doesn't leave a residue if i cannot figure it out. This is entirely a skill issue on my part so thank you for the help.
>>
>>28827620
painters tape fixed it. Runs fine now. Thank you.
>>
>>28827626
>>28827644
you can drive a car reasonably without oil in the engine
>>
>>28827662
You can't drive without the serpentine belt(you sure as shit can try) anon. You can delete the A/C for more power but you need to get the right belt length.
>>
>>28826089
I got a passed down Chevy sonic, and this weekend I am going to try to do the oil change myself for the first time.
Tell me all the ways I can fuck it up so I'm extremely afraid and scared while I do it.
>>
>>28827728
Learn to tight lightly on both the socket for the drain plug and the oil filter. Be sure to get oil on the rim of the filter(where the rubber is) then you are fine. Once you are level again (off of stands or ramps) you need to wait for it to settle, then measure the oil, check for leaks, then run for 5 mins and do it all again. This gets the oil through the system.

Brands don't really matter if you change every 5,000 miles, but it really matters if you want to race.
>>
>>28827534
Knipex does not make any 3 position slip joint pliers
>>
>>28826096
Tekton is fine they have some USA made pliers. Of all the tools you need the most variety from its going to be pliers bar none.
>>
>>28827434
Annie Body
>>
>>28827831
What this guy said, you don't need to crank the hell out of the drain plug or the filter (or filter cover if it's a cartridge type) when putting them back on. Filter is something like a quarter-turn past finger tight if you lubed the gasket. Also don't forget to put oil back in it, or forget the drain plug before filling, I've seen both of those done.

Oh and be careful about wind, even a light breeze can have shitty old oil whipping all over the place as it's draining and then you're spending more time on cleanup than the actual oil change.
>>
>>28827851
Speaking of clean up. Cat litter works great on concrete. Clothing i recommend toothpaste and dish detergent with a good scrub of a tooth brush and let it sit for 30 mins before washing. Works well enough to remove stains but you are fucked if gets on leather.

If you run out of laundry detergent then 2 table spoons of dish detergent and 2 table spoons of baking soda works great in a pinch.
>>
>>28827856
Actually 1 table spoon of dish detergent is enough. But generally if you use laundry detergent you only need to use 2 tablespoons of either powder or liquid. You can buy the premeasured spoons for that to make your life easy.
>>
>>28827831
>>28827851
Thanks. I have a garage so no worries about the wind. I'll be on my way to vatozone to get the oil, filter and pan.
Wish me luck.

I finally found my dream truck the exact way I want it. I had this exact one when I was 16 but had to sell it before joining the marines. But now I saw this NAM and I don’t know what to do. I don’t know shit about cars and stuff like this. He accepted my offer of $5700 but now that I see this I just don’t know. Any of yall have experience with this? The test drive was fine and everything was perfect aside from the terrible headliner that’s gonna need replaced:
>>
>>28827978
Here’s the eBay listing. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

>>
>>28827978
If it's what you want then $5700 probably isn't bad some of those old Broncos are getting hard to come by. What year bronco, what engine and transmission combo? How many miles? Overall good shape other than the headliner?
>>
>>28827984
You posted that link while I was still typing my earlier post. A bronco 2?! Lol.

Nah I'm just ragging on you Anon! If it's what you wanted then go for it man.

entire cat back on my 2015 f150 rotted out this week. sounded like a riced out civic. straight piped the resonator and bought a new muffler from napa.
when i was done i realized the mounting hooks on the tail piper were all rotted off. i thought about nigger rigging it with some sire and clamps, but just left it off.
now it's dumping exhaust all over my rear axle. i'm debating whether or not i want to fix it.

also did the front and rear brakes/rotors, and mounted a new set of Duratracs.

feels like a new truck.
>>
Gotta replace the oil cooler lines on my dad's 19 silverado. Anyone know if I can get any upgraded lines or am I just looking at replacing them again in another 5 or so years when the crimp starts leaking again? Thought about maybe cutting out the crimps, flaring the tubing and installing some kind of stainless steel mesh hose so they're still flexible but that seems retarded too.
>>
Good thing I'm good at wrenching so I can fix my car after I crash it (again and again) because I simply can't drive.
>>
One of my cars needs parts that I can’t find and the other one needs an engine and trans and rear end and like a hundred hours of work. I’m so fucking tired bros.
>>
I was about to put the strut together but then I realized I don't have an offset wrench for that top strut nut. Gonna try Amazon's finest offset box end wrench set .
>>
>>28828975
I used to cut a flat notch for a flathead screwdriver that has a hex on the shaft and use that to hold it from spinning.
>>
I want to replace this corroded component in my R129's radio amplifier. The car is making a constant high pitched noise I think due to the amp, although it does have an old aftermarket stereo. Based on the C#### adjacent to it I am assuming it is an axial ceramic capacitor, like its identical neighbor C2103.
How can I find the values for this? Google search only showed color codes for 3+ stripes, this only has one.
I guess I should have removed the identical cap and measured it, but I dont really trust my multimeter for capacitance measurements.
>>
>>28829137
Looked into this further and it could be a "0-Ohm resistor". If so I can just substitute it for a jumper wire. Maybe the C#### stands for component not capacitor.

I thought I could just get a passthrough socket wrench set and do it, but it turns out all the local tool stores only have sets that go up to 19mm, and I need a 21.
>>
What should I also replace (as a "while you're in there") when doing a headgasket?
>>
>>28829320
Water pump
>>
>>28829320
Cam and crank seals, timing tensioner (and timing belt or timing chain+chain guides depending on which it has), valve adjustment (if applicable), and of course any seals/gaskets you have to take off to remove the head or gain easier access to, like the valve cover gasket, thermostat and its housing (especially replace if it's plastic), hose o rings, things like that.
>>
>>28829256
>Those are box joint pliers you wrenchlet
they arent you retarded poor, twingrips are slip joint just like the cobras and other water pump pliers

Triton seized. Boutta scrap. I have lockouts and the tuner. Wondering if I should rebuild a core, scrap it, or just shoot myself tee bee aych

Scrap, buy shitbox.
>>
>>28829774
I have shitbox but I miss driving a pickup especially in the snow.
>>
>>28829779
Buy shitbox pickup or SUV. Just depends on your time. If you really want to rebuild i guess go for it. Just a pain in the ass. Scrap prices aren't great right now though. I always get offered like $200.
>>
>>28829784
Yeah that's what I'm worried about. I'd part it out but thirteen other motherfuckers are parting out 5.4s. At least mine is the one with the revised heads, 09.
If I were to rebuild I'd probably buy it from a parts truck
>>
>>28829787
You can't part out these trucks, no one is buying the shit. Just buy another one and use yours as parts. Yanking a triton is a pain in the ass and an entire other truck will cost you the labor to have a shop do it
>>
>>28830219
It takes forever to part out anything. I had an NP233 transfer case listed for free on offerup, and it took a year before someone came to get it.
>>
>>28829734
Swap in the cheapest used you can find, rebuild the original on the side to have it ready.
