Ford Focus 1.0 EcoBoost Stage 1 02/01/26(Sun)20:35:27 No.28829278 I have a 2018 Focus EcoBoost 1.0 with 125HP. I'd like to do stage 1 to it, at home on my own, is this a feasible idea? I have no actual car tuning equipment but I can order shit from china and have a laptop. I found some shady .bin files online with alleged programming for stage 1 for some other year's model but I fear I brick my car if I try.

Don't worry the wetbelt will brick your engine before too long anyway

I changed it early. It was already starting to break apart...

Your best bet is e85 conversion, increased boost, and a tune.

Not really, it's just easy shorthand
Stage 1-remap
Stage 2-cooling, intake and downpipe
Stage 3-fuelling, bigger/hybrid turbo

If memory serves, this stage thing was originally conceived by some auto manufacturer, but I can't remember was it Volkswagen or some American company who sold factory performance kits for their cars.

>1.0 EcoBoost
I wouldn't touch anything, honestly. That motor is not known for durability.
Anyway, I have the 1.5 EcoBoost and bought a chipping kit from some Bri*ish tuner company. They sent me the device and mailed me the tuned configuration after having me send them my original one. Super easy process and the results with this engine are great.
They had this summer sale offer, cost me ~€270. With the device they send you you can always reinstall the original mapping if you want.

02/02/26(Mon)15:13:05 No.28830197 Leave it stock. If you want performance buy something else. Enjoy the car for what it is and use whatever money you were going to spend on ruining it toward a faster car

I'd leave it stock. I've had the exact same thought as you but a stage 1 would only bring it up to 150ish, far eclipsed by a lot of cars on the road.
