Overpriced, underpowered, no manual, interior is from 2002, it does nothing a car $20k cheaper cannot, exterior styling is about as exciting as a crotch rocket, and the brand is known as a lesbian-mobile and charity. Also the engine is stupid known for German levels of expensive repairs.
Bring back a manual wagon for $40k and make it so people can easily tune and upgrade.

Your unpainted wheel arches exasperates your perceived wheel gap. Your dark wheels add to the void under the your fenders and make you look like a higher weight class that you encroach on, thus making you a glorified lowered cuv

You're ugly
You have barely more power than your predecessor, still less power than a more powerful version of it in Japan
You don't have an STI, didn't even get any STI stuff trickled down, like the diffs

No. Prior to 2026 there was only one trim level that came with CVT (the "GT" trim), all the other trim levels came with a manual. In 2026, there's still only one trim level that comes with CVT (the "GT" trim), all the other trim levels still come with a manual.

Subaru's interiors really haven't advanced in decades. You're still getting cheap cardboard seats and even cheaper hard plastic everywhere, but now they put a giant sized Nintendo DS in the dash that looks terrible even by the abysmally low standards of dash screens.
>>
>>28829832
Subaru has the worst possible era of touchscreen where it still has all the tracking bullshit you can't effectively remove, but it also lags and looks like garbage and isn't intuitive to use
There are AliExpress Maserati radios that work better than Subaru radios

Your products look and feel like cars designed by Fisher-Price. Worse interiors than even Goyota. Anemic horsepower and one of the worst engine designs across your entire lineup compared to your direct competitors. Your primary customers are lesbians and vape addicts who like to sit in Dunkin' Donuts parking lots making exhaust fart noises. Other people only buy your cars because of the generous 0% APR financing and the fact that you're a Jap brand priced somewhere between Toyota/Honda and Nissan.

>>
>>
>>28834151
I'm aware, just fucking with you. I've had an ej257 and an ej253, I know they're different.
But, your claim is that the N54 is reliable because "the turbos and accessories fail, not the engine block or rings" doesn't speak to overall reliability. And, let's be honest, most people turned up the boost on EJs when they were around, muddying the reliability waters, I certainly added 5 lbs of boost and it was way more common for a Subaru to be modded than BMWs.

I'm sure I'd enjoy it, but I like to live frugally and work as little as possible in life. I also don't like the added weight of luxuries and NVH, I just care about how it feels to drive and I like it raw. It should shake and rattle, it's a machine. Why spend *multiple times more* between the cost of the car and lifetime costs just for soft plastics and a luxury badge? Doesn't seem worth it to me.

You know, I just bought a miata for $4k last month. Bout to send the ol' impretzle to the junkyard.
E30 or C4/C5 would be absolutely sick, but I prefer what I prefer and reliability is nice. I wouldn't trust a hackjob turbo 40 year old car as a daily. I would trust a vette but their oversteer dynamics are kinda scary.
>>
>>
>>28834312
Vettes are fine the problem with them is that they can get expensive real fast if you get a crappy one and the huge amounts of grip make them not that fun on the street.
The real problem with them is people not used to a car oversteering at 100+ mph when they're used to half the speed. There is literally nothing bad to admitting to this btw, everyone forgets the faster you make a car the faster the turns come at you.
Otherwise it's the natural progression for RWD Sports Cars (Miata -> S2000/E36M/350Z -> C5 Z06 or C6 just like going from a 250 -> 650 -> 600/1000 on a bike).
I'm personally gonna go for a STi swapped GC8 because I don't see the point in a 400+ hp car on the street. 2700lb AWD with 300whp is more fun to me.
>>
>>28834364
>The real problem with them is people not used to a car oversteering at 100+ mph when they're used to half the speed. There is literally nothing bad to admitting to this btw, everyone forgets the faster you make a car the faster the turns come at you.
Yes, and because of all the grip in the vette, when the rear does go out, it shoots out quickly once you overcome the tire limit.
I am good at oversteering <150 hp cars, but part of drifting is living to do it again another day. Corvettes scare me. I have very little self control and powerslide for giggles, in a vette I'd be dead.
STis are fun, I had one '07-'12 or so. I found myself driving 120mph in-town normally, and racked up 7 tickets in 5 years. It just was too risky for me though I never even curbed it, I just got scared of myself. I now get my automotive kicks sliding around at like 20-35 mph and I feel safer that way.

I bought a 2016 STi and its not as fun as I was expecting personally (feels big/heavy and wide), so I'm hoping buying a GC STi will fill that void being 700lbs lighter. I kinda settled because it was a great deal (75k miles, $16k, low mileage used motor put in) but it feels too much like a daily when its supposed to be a weekend car. Its kinda boring. I wish I picked up a ND Miata or didn't settle for a VA and went straight for a GC but I kinda got myself worked up because it was a decent deal (and still is, only real issue is a PS leak that's pretty common on all EJ cars and that's probably the rack).
Was hoping to sell one before buying the other but I'm talking to a guy selling one at a decent price, hoping to get a decent deal since he wants out of everything but its 14 hours away in Wisconsin. If it was Florida where my parents are it'd be more of a definite yes since I can easily get there from NYC. Asking a million questions right now.
>>
>>28830124
Looks great. It might have an "iPad", but at least it doesn't stick up above the dashboard or go horizontally across the whole dash like most cars. All the controls are real buttons on the steering wheel anyway so it doesn't matter when you can use either.

I have dreamt long about such things. I would've gone with a built EJ257, but a lot of people prefer the 20s and they're supposedly more reliable and can take more boost due to thicker cylinder walls.

Yeah I like the 207 a lot more, its my bucket list engine. I love the high redline. I short shift the 257 around 6-6500 since it doesn't seem like it likes the revs. I also hate the pedal lag, its genuinely bad. I have to drive in sport sharp after a lifetime of cable throttles. I just know I'll be fucking pissed if I had to do a motor in it because I'm really not in love with it
I was really shopping for a JDM STi v5/v6 since the 20Ks seem like bombs....but this came up and I'd rather have the newer engine (twin scroll + AVCS in the v9s + 8000rpm redline). I think this is as strong as a 257 only let down by the pistons (ringlands at 380-400whp).
Its a EJ207 v9 + 2001 6MT + 5x100 R180. Supposedly has 4.44 FD which I'm not sure how but it might be a gravel spec trans or similar since it spins at 4-5k @ 70-80mph. Should be nuts. I wouldn't change a thing other than paint the rear spats/skirts and put a 2.5RS trunk on it so it looks more like a STi.
Only shitty part is its Wisconsin 14 hours away and everything is frozen over atm. I'd be more ready in 2 weeks.

>without MODIFYING the suspension?
In suspensions, changing one thing can have butterfly effects that make other things worse. I just do sway bars (fat one in the rear for max oversteer), that's it, I don't want to mess things up. I do prefer lowered (slightly, like 1.5") visually, but it's not worth it without doing a lot of math imo.

You don't think those beancounters went and adjusted everything else that needed to be adjusted when they put those lift-kits on those cars, do you?

>It's a hatchback, he thinks it's a "hot" hatch probably because it's not the "base" model, to use the parlance of our times
It's a 5 door SUV, not a "hatchback". Your califag idol considers it a hot hatch because for the era it was quicker than the vast majority of them when it had the 190hp 4.0
>And if it's better than any BMW, why. Is it slower and less luxurious than even my oldest, cheapest E39 that I got for $2400?
Smoothbrain beaner cannot read. I didn't say "car", I said "engine" specifically. With a mild amount of boost (17lbs) and mostly stock components it can easily make well over 600hp and 700 lb-ft of torque.
