Automatic transmissions are demonic.
All who use them are unknowingly participating in demonic ritual, and all who use them and know the truth about them (which now includes you) are doomed to the outer darkness.
It really is that simple.

it really depends on the person, everyone that knew i manual swapped my car asked me about traffic jams. i just shrugged because they were a nothingburger

Im guessing you've never commuted in a major city where it takes 3 cycles to get through a single traffic light. Even more fun in a city thats not some valley floor or out on the prairie.
Take a manual to San Francisco and drive around at 5 o'clock.

>Im guessing you've never commuted in a major city where it takes 3 cycles to get through a single traffic light
i dailied it in sydney for two years. granted, i didn't have to really rev it even on hills. wasn't a diesel, it just had enough torque that I didn't have to stomp the gas too hard to get going.

>>28829648
manual hell, the eternal hillstart traffic jam, reserved for those who can't control their roadrage. the only rest is found in parallel parking spaces that are flooded so you can't get out without getting your socks wet.
>>
>>28829623
autos shift like ass, the gears feel mushy and the gear selection is equally trash, now you'll say
>but what about semi automatic, you get the best of both worlds
why in the fuck would I opt for a cucked attempt of having a manual gearbox, I select the gears how I want, use engine braking exactly like I want and I don't get irritated from the car doing whatever I don't want it to do, if I'm in traffic so be it, the amount of times this is a problem is maybe once in a while, city driving is fairly straightforward as well, the car is overall much simpler in its construction, less electronic bullshit to go bad

>modern overhead cam fuel injected p.i.t.a. to work on nanny car
DOHC and EFI are not really things worth complaining about. Some of the easiest engines to work on are that way and well-tuned EFI is more-reliable than carb since you can tune the whole rev / throttle range.

Oh yeah anon, Im sure youre super swamped being a part time particle physicist while also running a really successful restaurant
>get off on manual
I think this is what psychologists refer to as projection
It's fun
>b-b-b-b-ut muh traffic jams!!
Skill issue
If you find yourself trapped in some car choked shithole like LA or Houston, spending 2 hrs every day in horrible traffic jams
Look at your choices
>>
>>28829648
people always say this but I've dailied a 6spd around Atlanta for a very long time. yeah nobody moves when the lights change, takes several cycles. yeah there are hills everywhere, don't care. sitting in traffic sucks no matter what, doing it in an auto wouldn't be any better

Manuals are the poorfag choice. Automatics are better in every way but they are more expensive up front and in maintenance which leads to a lot of cope.

>Have you replaced your clutch cylinder yet? Your clutch pads? Your clutch yourself? Your shifting cable?
yes, I've also replaced synchros inside the manual transmission after cracking it open. You can actually fix manuals in your garage, good luck finding a professional mechanic that you give money to willing to do anything more than swap a refurb/junkyard automatic transmission in

I'd only ever change my manual for a pdk or sequential. Only times I've ever gone WOW
Not even a new M2 does it for me. But honestly if we aren't talking about a performance car then I don't give a shit what slush box automatic it has if anything a dsg in a non sports car is dumb.

automatics were better when they were simple
>have 3 cars
>30-year-old 4 speed auto
car always just goes, sometimes hunts on certain inclines
>5-year-old 9 speed auto
hunts all the fucking time, sometimes when you floor it will hesitate for a second before sending power, not great for pulling out into traffic
>20-year-old 6 speed manual
always does exactly what i command, when i command it

Americans associate them with car enthusiasts. Only performance or 'fun' cars really had them in the states. In the rest of the world, nobody gives a shit. We used manuals because they were better at the time. That's it. Now automatics have gotten better and manuals are obsolete technology. Notice how the American does the opposite of what is logical:
>for decades, automatic transmissions are awful
So in America we drive automatics.
>now technology has improved, the manual isn't relevant anymore
Noooo!! You can't take my manual away! From my cold dead hands!

I would literally get out of my car, stand on the roof, and shoot myself in the middle of traffic if this ever happened to me, and I live innacity

I hate trying to get my 4Runner (Auto only) up ramps. I've only ever driven manuals before and clutch control just cannot replace even the 'creep' you get with autos, as at a certain point they just stop and you have to work the throttle BUT NOT TOO MUCH, then ham on the brakes.

I dailyd a manual five years in NYC before I moved to Pennsylvania
It’s literally not an issue, you need the basic self control to resist the urge to crawl forward as soon as you have one tenth of one inch of extra space.

Learn to drive a manual and you MIGHT learn why. Ask your mom for permission to put her auto into """sport""" mode the next time she lets you drive it. You'll feel a difference. Manuals feel even better.

Accurate. If you're lucky you can even just let it tickover in first at idle. It actual makes life easier for the autolets behind you, even though they seethe about LOOK AT THE GAP HE'S LEAVING

Manual
>put in gear you want, accelerate, no slop
Auto
>press pedal down, wait, engine revvs up, not gaining speed fast enough, transmission downshifts 1 gear, then 2 gear, now it finally starts accelerating, and it feels sloppy.
the choice is simple.

Right. All the delivery vans here in Bongistan are manuals. I don't see their drivers in London with it medieval road layout and commie anti-vehicle traffic light phasing collapsing from exhaustion.
I like Americans but some of you do talk some shit.

Instead of having sex with a woman, why not rub one out in 20 seconds? Much more efficient. Shit, why live? Get me straight to the finish line.
Do you see what I'm getting at?
It's not obsolete if people like it enough to pay for them. Some humans "enjoy" things, crazy concept, I know.

Cars are machines and useless parts on machines don't last. Manuals are going and they're not coming back. Engineers don't keep aspects of cars that make them objectively worse in every way, besides providing an autism stick to car nerds.

>Replacement needed, $8k after labor.
>"Oooh! I can get a new car!"
>Totals it through insurance, car is scrapped at barely over 100k miles
Meanwhile I just pop in a new clutch for $800 and go on my way in my paid off car instead of perpetuating a cycle of indebtedness.
Oh yeah, and it's really fun.

>In reality its tiring as fuck for a daily, especially.on a city.
in clogged peak traffic from europe to asia to africa, everyone drives manual. your grandma drove a manual.
consider all the third-worlders driving to and from a death-march shift of gruelling manual labour. do you think they've got enough time for a good night's sleep? if you can't drive manual in awful traffic then you just can't drive manual.

I'm slowly getting used to manual driving and was able to handle one of my nightmare scenarios today with ease.
>pulled up in a line of cars at a Stop Sign
>It was an uphill slope
>Instead of panicking, I played the balancing act of keeping my foot on the gas, engine roaring, partially kept the clutch engaged to climb the slope slowly without creeping backwards.
>Got up to the top where it was my turn to wait at the stop sign and took off quickly before the car could roll back for longer than a moment.
I wasn't even tense, I just did it.

Lol the NPC pathfinding algorithm can't have a gap. They will literally go into a homicidal rage if there's a car length that can be filled. This is why NPCs really are no higher than animals, they fundamentally cannot comprehend the future.

I would do that.
Sex is for producing children, it should not be about a fulfillment of lust, because then it's fornication.
So it should be as efficient as possible. The lights should be off and the deed should be done in a few minutes maximum.

Well, see. I make it into an event.
Do a bunch of adderall / speed. Foreplay for at least 30 minutes. Take water breaks. Gotta make it at least 2 hours.
What do you want in life? What do you go to work for? Why do you wake up every day? Furniture? Funko Pops? Burgers? For me, what keeps me from blowing my brains out, is drugs and consensual sex with women in their 30s.
We are not the same, and I will not play by your NPC rules.
