I was driving my 2001 Honda Civic EX today and it randomly decided to only put out hot air. I changed the control panel to put out A/C, turned the dial to cold air, etc. Nothing worked. The engine wasn't overheating (it was halfway temp which is normal when I drive it). After I started it the third time consecutively while out, the A/C suddenly worked. My friend (he's a mechanic) thinks it's the actuator or the heater control valve. It's strange on the 3rd startup, everything worked fine. Will provide further info. if needed. Thanks.

* Had this similar issue with my accord, not sure if civics have them in the engine bay but it one easy thing to diagnose just by opening the hood and flipping back and forth from hot to cold just to see if it actuates properly

Check your refrigerant lines. If one popped a leak, you just need to patch or replace it then refill your refrigerant. Refill packs are cheap as fuck. Mine has a slow leak so I just refill it once a summer and it's not failed me yet doing it that way.
