This, and the excessive estrogen is a great way to put it. Too many fragile people today who lose their mind over the dumbest shit. 4chan used to be the only place on the internet to not have to walk on eggshells, but now even the mentally ill demand eggshells.

I'm posting this because the active users envy the deactivated. Social media is over. Its architects long entombed by engagement metrics and falling revenue.
I watched the efforts of our species dance away on the electromagnetic wires, critical thought retreated by millennia, all of poasting history wrought to dust. Our sites, now gray wastelands of machine generated garbage, serve as a reminder.
There can be no victory virtually. Touching grass is the answer to the question of our isolation. With resolute defiance we choose to grasp at the delicate thread of meeting people in person. My son, the gift of survival is yours. Please, may you never hit submit.
There can be more.

You can have just as much fun, arguably more fun, absolutely thumping on an old slow bike
The new XR150L is cool. If I were you, that’s what I would go with. If you’re still enjoying it in a few years, you can sell it for what you paid for it, and upgrade.

Even better. Honestly forgot they announced that. At your age and having been out of the game, but knowing just enough to be dangerous, you’re the most at-risk rider there is in the road.
WR125 could be easily set up for a taller rider with bar risers and a taller seat. Might get one myself if my current Yamaha ever dies (it won’t).
>>
>>28902602
Yeah never did anything too stupid when I did ride but I'd definitely come back feeling less sharp overall which is the biggest risk
Used to have a KLR650 so never got myself into any real danger on that pig, just some abandoned parking lot wheelies with some homies and a couple casual group rides.
Appreciate the thoughts anon. I like your bike, has some real nuts to it

I appreciate the kind words. It’s a 1986 Yamaha XT350. They were produced from 1985-2000. Street legal version of the Yamaha TT350. Super awesome bikes, dead nuts reliable, kick start only. Highly recommend, if you can find one. Might have to get the carbs cleaned once if it’s been sitting, but so long as you never let them get gunked up again you’ll be set. It’s just fast enough to cruise in the middle lane on the interstate, but capable enough for any single track or trail. Honestly, you’d probably be alright with it if you’re mechanically inclined, because you will be spending time wrenching on it, where you probably wouldn’t on a brand new WR125. Old bikes bring old bike problems, doesn’t matter the brand. These dual sports and enduros are almost always dogged out the moment they leave the showroom, so going with something brand new makes good sense.

>Yamaha XT350
Unrelated note, but since you like that bike, there's an Ameriboo youtuber in England, Freddie Dobbs, that bought one and is learning to wrench on his. It's pretty entertaining to watch, because so far he's leaving in all the fuck ups. Nice highs and lows.

See >>28902503 and note the irrecoverable fall off after the 2008 crisis. Young people don't have the disposable income to spend on expensive frivolities anymore. Racing, like every other extreme sport, was propped up by young people spending. Now, it's only old men and the rich, which is why every race series and track is desperately trying to turn themselves into a luxury experience and ignoring the mass market. I know the average age of people on this board puts them as children during the pre-2008 years, but it's really hard to overstate just how fucking rotted everything has been since then. It's the reason why the kids are all stuck in their phones and obsessed with social media these days, it's all they can really afford.

>I'm contemplating just getting a light weight dual sport and riding it to trails mostly
>I am pretty tall
i got a wr250r for just under 4k a couple months ago. i'm 5'10" and it's pretty tall. as in, i wouldn't be upset if it was a little shorter.
i'm in a similar age bracket, similar mindset. most of what i do is ripping around in the woods and the wr does what i want, but admittedly i wish it was a bit more powerful. which is why i'd be hesitant to pick the wr125r.
the wr250r requires you to wring it out on hill climbs and stuff.
i also have ridden my friend's drz 400SM. it's a bit heavier but honestly it's pretty similar. that's a really low bike but i imagine the one with dirt tires is still a good height. and supermoto is a lot of fun. i've been thinking about picking up a set of street wheels and swapping around.
anyway, tl;dr look into a wr250r or a drz. downside with the wr250r is they quit making them like 6 years ago so you have to be cognizant of long term support. aftermarket for DRZ is going to be better. but both are great. if i had a drz instead of a wr i think i would be just as happy with it. just keep an eye on both around your area.

south louisiana. we've got kisatchie which is a big ass national forest, and lots of land people use for hunting and what not.
it's more flat than i'd like. i've got friends with some land out in texas they hunt on and i'll go out there a couple times a year.
the unplated bike is a little 125cc chinese pit bike my friend has. fun to goof around on but really no comparison. i think you'd be a little underwhelmed with a 300 pound wr125r with 15 hp. i was also looking at the klx300 and crf300l. it's been a blast though, i'm happy with the wr. being able to ride to the trails in the morning, fuck around then ride home is really nice.
plus the used market is so good, you could probably pick one up and if it isn't what you expected, turn around and sell it for basically the same price. do it, big dog.

I had always assumed that the dislike for motorcycles, and the outright hate for cyclists, was a uniquely North American phenomenon. However, reading JP language motorcycle/scooter twitter has basically revealed that there have been a growing number of vehicles growing angry at people on 2 wheels either going too fast or not fast enough, and intentionally cutting them off like pic related. And also apparently the chugaku region, Okayama in particular, don't use blinkers.
It has me curious what are the local driving eccentricies of other countries. I know someone from Poland mentioned the wire decapitation meme earlier, but what else is there?
>>
>>28903372

Anywhere in the US they will actively try to kill you since their only experience with bikes is being "cut in line" by a motorcycle rider. They assume you will take their place in queue and preemptively try to kill you to prevent it.

Australia I noticed a lot more hate towards all 2 wheeled vehicles. People will tail gate and pass as close as they can to you. They act like murderous psychos, I noticed that it goes tesla drivers, Mothers with SUVs then P platers with fucking lifted utes that have hands soo soft you could mistake them for women hands.

How come this is the most comfortable motorcycle saddle I've ever sat my ass on?
It's just a piece of rubber stretched over 2 metal bars and a rubber block on the underside to cushion the metal bars against the frame.
Only bike I've ever riden where my ass isn't sore after a couple of hundred kilometres, I can ride through the whole day without feeling sore anywhere.
The seat on my Guzzi was plush and nice, but after a while my tailbone/lower back started to ache and I had to get off the bike for a while.

my step dad bought one new in 56, parked it at the barn in 66 with some carb issues, they where notorious for that, then my brothers and i got our hands at it in 82 before my brother sold it off in mid 00 somewhere
My first "bike" was a Suzuki ZR 50 that i bought when i was 16 and it`s the only brand i`ve owned since, currently on a my third busa, but that little Tempo still have a sweet spot in my head

Is it better to buy brand new or slightly used, low-mileage, almost-like-new with farkles if they are at the exact same price?
There is a listing of a 2025 Hunter Cub with 1.8k km mileage. It costs about 90k ladyboydollar (2900 USD), which is basically the same price as a new Hunter Cub here.
The farkles, outside of pointless shit like stickers and phone/cup holders and maybe the front ohlins shocks (which cost about $200)

Uncs like me. Mr.Shoomers, rided our zx14r yesterday
It was an okay ride
We fixed frens turn signal light, replaced and rewired new one
Ended up having to do another in the back
Put some baffles inc they were tiny, cut like 4-5db of noise, another silencer with packing would be perfrction
And then we realixed he woud have to dremel the original speedometer for it to be diagnosed, and he didnt have a dremel
I tokk only my rear brake apart, realize i have like 3/4 pad left, shot it with brake clean, and rode around again
Sadly im squeeker central
Any tips for cleaning the squeeks out? Or should i still replace these pads, cause i thought i ran then bare but they looked fine
I was thibking take them off and use a toothbrush to scrub the fuck out of them this time
If that doesnt work idk how to remove squeeker bros

I know texas bros has one on one of his bikes, but forget if the zx14r of his has one
Idk, do you really need maxxed out speeds to cause these death wobbles? I know the dynas were notoriois for these issues and lawsuits and they didnt go fast, but their workaround was suspension related

>Got a street tripple r on a whim and ended up riding it significantly more than the R7, so I want to try something new.
interesting.
just because of better ergos or some other reason?
was the r7 as uncomfortable as they say
>>
>>
>>28903998
Part of it was ergos, For my 5'10" ass if wasn't bad stock, less aggressive than a sport bike, more than a street, and the seat was long enough that pressing against the tank or pushing back to the end if the seat made it more aggressive. but then I did a lot track days for a season and made it way more aggressive.
Not that the ergos for the stripple are the best either,I do have a bit of an issue with it where lower half is more aggressive than the upper body but it's not uncomfortable.
>>
>>
>>28904065
The other part of it was I just wanted to not ride & hear a ptwin. i started on a ninja 400, then got an r7. So I wanted something else. I was either going to get a monster, or a shiver since the mt09 and z900 were out of my budget.
Now I'm looking at z4rr or a rvf400 to replace the R7.

i've been talking with my friend about doing a multi-week ride in europe for probably three years now. we're both early 30s. we're both in a position now where we could probably pull it off financially and without losing our jobs.
it would be cool if we could go point-to-point but it seems like we most likely have to rent a bike and pick up/drop off at the same location, so we'd do a big loop. have any of you done this? or similar? dont take pic related too seriously it's just to grab your attention so you reply to me.
i imagine it's a lot more difficult than what we expect, but i've also got the feeling that it could end up being a thing where we just kick the can forever and don't end up doing it and then life circumstances no longer line up and it's a "man i wish we would have done that".

its not my route, mein freund. i just stole it off reddit. its just an example. we've not actually settled on a route or anything yet.
its crazy how there isn't more infrastructure set up for point-to-point ride rentals. i'd figure that would be a thing in europe but most of the rental places want it dropped where you pick it up. it'd be sick to be able to pick up a bike in portugal and drop it in greece or whatever. just have discounts or something for "reverse routes" so the bikes get delivered back. problem solved.
also its like 100+ euro a day to rent. at that point its almost worth buying at one end and selling at the other, but i know """legally""" it wouldn't be that easy.

It's my only transport. It's no issue as that.
>>28902920
Context:
My use case is commuting, weekend twisties and touring. I've done about 30k miles so far. I already had plenty of experience and wanted something that I could wind out in my country's back roads. My geography and country's shit economy played a big part in the selection.
It's wonderfully practical and performs well from a utilitarian perspective. It does most things well without any drama. Cheap to insure in comparison to other 600 sport bikes. Virtually immune to rust and corrosion even after riding multiple winters. Reliability is okay. I had the loom rub through and touch the frame killing the fuses once. The OEM exhaust cracked at 20,000 miles. It is thirsty for oil too. The fuel range is a little short.
Onto the subjective things:
I think it's a little gutless in the lower revs and it doesn't have the berserk ceiling that other 600's do. The brakes feel numb. Handling is numb too, you don't get much feedback leaning over. Gearbox clunks and the quickshifter isn't worth the money. My biggest gripe is that it's vibey. Really vibey. I had really thought an i4 should be better than this. I wrapped the grips in foam and replaced the footpegs with rubber insert ones and that's still not enough. Most twins I've ridden are smoother. I am shopping for other bikes that feel more refined. Will be looking for smoother engines will less buzz and bikes with more tactile interfaces.
Tldr: good bike if you don't have other reference points. Will serve you dutifully but leaves you feeling cold.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>28904260
Then you are fucked. You can't simply buy and sell one after the trip like i could in the US. On your place I'd look for someone who could buy a used one and let you ride it, while you ship it back to him after the trip, perhaps there's services like that.
>>
>>
>>28904260
Oh and you could ship it form the US to UK, I've seen one youtuber did that
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TV-5_p8ncJU
>>
>>28904254
thanks for the essay. considering the price point, that's a pretty solid review from my angle. if you can put up with it for 30k, it can't be all that bad.
i imagine being gutless down low comes with the territory. in my imagination, the character of an inline 4 is worth the loss of torque. then again, being honest, you are in the lower revs a lot of the time around town.
why's the eclutch suck? it seems perfect for keeping your left hand free to hold a beer.
i do see people bitch about the vibrations. that is a thing that gets annoying. my friend has a ktm 500 and we've gone on multi hour rides, swapping back and forth and it really does get old.
i'm kind of bought in on the concept of an inline 4. i wish there were more options but it's a dying breed what with emissions.
what are you looking at as a replacement?
>>
>>
File: seebee.jpg (3.6 MB)
3.6 MB JPG
>>28904283
My model's not the eclutch one. I've seen it in operation but I'd consider it a novelty. It does look very prone to fall damage. 4's are alive and well. Try finding a Vtwin that's not a Ducati or a Vstrom, now that's a challenge. Harley's aren't really sold here.
Don't forget how these things are geared. You may have 94hp, but only when you're doing 60mph in 1st, 80mph in 2nd and 100mph in 3rd. If you're in so much as 2nd at 40mph you ain't going nowhere. The 650 gearbox isn't nice enough to be doing 2nd->1st gear shifts at speed and the engine is too vibey to be hanging in 2nd all day.
If a small bore four is what you want, great, go ride and enjoy it for what it is but there's a reason they lost their popularity.
I rode a triple 765 and thought it had a better bottom end and top end while revving higher and buzzing less. I'd have bought one if it had a fairing. I consider a fairing essential if you want to put down serious miles outside of summer. I might do a DIY Daytona conversion. The 675 is too old as a daily now.
Other candidates are a Ducati supersport 950 or a z1000sx though I'm yet to test ride them and cast my judgement.

desu if the pad is squealing im sure its probably worn out or has grit in it?
if you brakeleen it and it still squeak and you hate it then I guess there is not much you can do beside getting new one unless you want to lube it with brakeleen often
google say you can try sand paper down the brake pad
personally I just not use my brake

They already make V4 cruisers, SRV600 or 700 I forgot the name.
This is sadly a tale as old as world. Japanese abandon 50cc class entirely, Chinese dominate it, Japanese make underwhelming metric cruisers(Rebel is good, Kawasaki's are parts bin and meh, suzuki and yamaha have nothing in production), Chinese come in with theirs. 1960's looking British bikes aren't made in 125cc displacement, Chinks make a bunch of these. We can go on. Two prong strategy, fight head on with mainstream bikes and fill every niche that seems abandoned.

So i need to grind down my pads or replace them if wd-40 approved brake clean lubricant clean non chlorinated brake lube works
Ok
I have no idea what to do, again
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
ok so lets go back to generalizations on when to replace the pads; should you just proactively replace them if theyre not worn the fuck down?
Would a belt sander be ideal for this?
What about the brake discs? Is it just the pads than need a rub n tug?

If it making sound but you don't want to replace the pad
I mean you can keep lubing it but it's stop stop gap until you replace it
So I guess technically you can just lube it up with brake cleaner everytime it make sound until thr pad is FUBAR then you replace new pad
But ffs just replace the pad if you can't live with some squeaky
I wouldn't sand the brake unless you really know what you are doing

So you should replace pads when they start squeeky? After certain mileage interval? When theyre almost barren?
I just have no guides for these sorts of oddball metrics i guess, im only at around 16.7k km with stock ones i guess, and my rear tire may be needing replacement but i can at least see tread and wear on that way easier and have experience there
Idk what to do with this brake pad situation but i have a full set ready to go but my only issue is SQUEEEKERSSSSS
AHHHHHHHH

A lot of people think you need more material to make a seat more comfortable, but many times taking material out of the right spots can make an improvement. As for that specific seat, idk. It doesn't look comfortable, but it must fit your buns if you like it.

so the real question is to go with the m4's and the rcs19 or the newer gp4-rs and a rcs17? the gp's weigh less and cool better but have a 4mm smaller piston and apparently the rcs19 is overkill and the rcs17 is recommended. So which setup fellas
