Conservation of land while banning human access doesn't make sense.
Who are you conserving it for??? If you aren't conserving it for human use, there is no point of conserving it at all.

What a fucking retard.
1) Animals avoid humans.
2) If human activity is noticed, animals will leave an area.
Ive hiked through areas that had been closed for a year or two and there were snakes and small game that were not present before the closure.
Once people returned the animals left again.
Im talking about places ive hiked for decades.

Dub Vee is more jagged bro
Its all the peaks in your photo
As far as the eye can see usually
The thing that really makes the photo no depict WV is the flat area in the foreground.
Thats why people don't sense the mountains here, there are no foothills only little jagged peaks.
Posted from a steep valley, the other 50% of the state

no, NC has way more serrated peaks than WV does
WV overall is more rounded especially in the interior

I mean
Not trying to undermine your credibility regarding the two mountainous areas bro.
But do those peaks in the posted pic qualify as jagged to you?
Are you saying the WV peaks in general are more rounded than those?
Cuz I been literally all over this state, from huntington to morgantown to lewisburg over 11 years.
And the peaks I see every day are the same or more pointed than those in the pic.
In fact I thought the pic was kinda mellow when I first posted regarding its similarity to WV.
But anyway, its a dumb thing to argue over.
Just wanted to say that I see a SIMILAR view all the fuck over this state.
In fact I comment that its almost monotonous after a while.
Good day to you.

this is just a zoomed in photo meant to illustrate the contrast between peaks and housing
in general ive found nc to have more jagged shaped peaks
post some jagged wv peaks (but no cheating by posting quartzite outcroppings)
I mean you have things like baker rocks, seneca rocks, those are jagged but those are just quartzite left behind when the sedimentary rocks erode
I'm pretty exhausted right now, but I have plenty of photos I think of jagged NC peaks and less jagged WV ones
>In fact I comment that its almost monotonous after a while.
there's always a uniqueness to the fractals, subtle differences in the design
there's this gorgeous view you can only get from a road somewhere in extreme southern WV south of panther wildlife management area and its just stacks of rounded hills but they are in a unique shape
I want to go back and get a photo but its a narrow road with no pull off and no trespassing signs everwhere
sort of like a ridge road up at 2000 ft above panther creek

Well, in pic related I think you are about 3-4 hours from some of the major piedmont cities of the south, so its like a weekend and holiday retreat to be somewhere more quiet, and also there's ski resorts in the area
>but there's a a lot of land for people to camp out and rob you or kidnap you for ransom
you don't really hear about that happening
highlands nc, also, is filled with gated country clubs and estates and they probably have security too so I guess if you are rich enough, you've thought of that already, and also, the terrain is forbidding so it's gonna be hard for bad guys to even get there

My legs were exhausted by the time I reached the top and I didn't want to risk dying. The sign says the view is just as good from the allowed view-cuckbox but I don't think it is.
I hate scary rock outcroppings with no railings and believe me I spend plenty of time on them.
I watched a fit early 20 something couple ascend off into the fins, and I think other people too. Kinda sucks they can't put a proper path into the fins to a better view. I guess the actual better view is from Roaring Plains, but that's an annoying one because you have to be there sept 1- dec 31 for the road to be open otherwise its a much longer walk.

There's a similar place at the top of Mt. Laguna in San Diego.
Nice railed area for viewing but if you hop the rail and walk around the corner theres a ledge.
Its basically a shelf thats 6,000 feet above the valley floor. And its slightly sloped (towards the drop off of course).
Friend and I sat there and had lunch after a hike once. One slip and it would have been flight training with no recovery.

it's 800 ft of up. It's not nothing.
I think Roaring Plains is ~ 700 ft of up if you do the loop (for 7 mi vs 2) but I would just take the pipeline to the views and then out and back it the wilderness part is in rough shape.

800 feet is basically nothing. The hiking trail is quite boring and so is that viewing platform. Technical rope climbing and freeclimbing is where it's at on Seneca.
