I'm thinking about getting a macro lens and use it for a dslr film scanner setup. It'll work fine in a static setup like that. But I need something that can shoot higher resolution video, better auto focus, cleaner iso and something MUCH lighter.

I never used Magic Lantern on my 5dmkii. I just had that Cinestyle picture style that I shot video in. Worked fine for me, but I always missed not being able to get a 2.35:1 frame on the screen to frame it better. I always ended up using a bit of painters' tape on the screen for more serious stuff. But I was so used to framing in that aspect ratio that I could just eyeball it fairly accurately.

I shoot mostly fomapan100 that's like 5 dollars a sheet fresh, and expired ilford film I buy off ebay that's like 4 dollars a sheet. Fp4+, my love, doesn't show any base fog if it's stored well and under 10-15ish years expired. It really isn't that bad. I make my own developer that costs pennies per sheet to use. 5dmii was the peak of digital cameras designed for making the photo look as aesthetically pleasing as possible.
After that sadly specs took over, higher megapixels or dynamic range became the thing that sells, all involve moving away from the image looking nice.
5dmii got so much shit for its shadows but looking back it renders shadow so nicely, and the fake ugly shadows that came in the future that only claim is they can be lifted 4 stops in post look fake and worse. 5dmii has inbuilt protection to stop ppl overcooking the raw by making it break.
Also the 5dmii has quite heavily edited colours that look nice, not some word salad gimmick white balance thing all the modern cameras have that produce ugly looking colours.

I was able to snag a mark iii with only 500 on the shutter, so basically new. It's my second camera and the first I bought myself. My first was an eos 400d which feels pretty similar to the mark iii, just very slightly worse in most aspects and alot worse in build quality and storage. The mark iii feels great to take photos with; it feels great in the hands. It's kinda like how wearing a suit makes you feel a bit better about yourself than usual. Its a great camera to shoot on and very resonably priced. The mark ii would be the same except even cheaper and with no video (which isn't that bad cause the video on the mark iii is a bit poo). That said if money wasn't an issue I'd get a newer mirrorless, simply because they're smaller so I wouldn't need to carry a camera bag.

If the 16mp of the D4 does you fine then a 36mp would get you that with an APS-C crop, a 42mp body gets you a little over 1.6, 60mp gets you almost 2x crop. Lmao if you can't shoot good pictures with the relative top ends of all those brands then you are a bad photographer. All those brands have nearly identical sensor performance and af is not really that different either unless your a spec sheet YouTuber. Anything past about 40 megapixels will let you print big enough for a gallery. Hell 20 megapixels is probably big enough for a gallery. Just buy whatever brand feels the best or you want. It doesn't really matter.
