For each date that I go on, I would like to give my date something that I have folded myself. My first date is the 7th and I will be gifting a crane then.

Do you guys have any more suggestions? Traditional is preferred, but contemporary or from something (like an anime or video game since she really likes those) is also welcome. My origami skills need honing, though, since I took a several year long break, so simpler origami is preferred for the time being.

Thank you for your help.

Unfortunately, I have contracted Dengue, so the date is now on the 14th, but I folded the crane on a custom cut 3" square of paper. Feel free to laugh at my poor folding job.

I'm not an origamist but happen to be a woman, and I wanted to say this is really sweet and I would personally love it.

Is she into Star Wars?
this Yoda isn't hard to fold and looks really great with the right colors:

Don't straight up fold the wings like that, pull them apart to make them slightly curved and make the "body" 3d

Thank you. I am just glad that she never lurks this board, since I said it was a surprise.

At risk of doxxing each other. She goes to to a Disney Park a fair bit and has ties to another major park.

Reminds me of some of the Michael LaFoss guides. Might need to lurk for those.

The crane suggestions nshould be put right easily. Thank you.

Doing it on the first date and every date seems a bit excessive and weird. Second date would be my vote

I suggest asking what things she likes. I gave my gf this horse because she said it was her favorite animal.

Agree with this anon that one for each date seems a bit excessive desu.

Would it perhaps help that I further contextualize this by saying that we have been talking to each other for nearly a month (exactly a month on the 13th) and that we talk for several hours each night?

Good idea to ask about a favorite animal. Where can I find the guide for this horse in particular?

Not to make this too much of a blogpost, but I have not been folding while I was ill (I still am not well, so I might need to move our date back, which unfortunately might not be until the end of the month, at least). I plan on making a swan next, though, more as practice, but of course, it or one like it will be gifted later on. Stay tuned...

No clue why I sent that lizard... Oh well.

That's Hideo Komatsu's horse. It's in his book "Works of Hideo Komatsu" which I'm pretty sure is out of print. I'm sure there's bootlegs of the book online and it looks like there's a few youtube tutorials too.

It's an incredible model (one of the best ever IMO) but it might be a bit complex if you aren't super into origami yet.

Thank you for the information.

I am gifted with some great used book markets in town. I could probably find said book in one of them (at a good price too). I will probably be doing some book shopping this weekend among other things.

I took a bit of a break from origami to do some modeling (plus take care of an ant problem). /toy/ is the board that I am most active on, but this is my first mech that I have built.I picked this up specifically because her favorite anime character pilots this mech. Once I am done with detailing it, I will return to origami.

Pics coming soon.

Neat model, but my experience with papercraft is nil.

Very nice, but beyond my skill level. Unfortunately, my grandmother was gravely ill, so I had to nurse her and cancel my dating plans until 2026. The current offer for a date is out to lunch on Wednesday, but she said that she would let me know tonight, since she has some travelling at the end of this week.

She did however say that she want to be by my side and that we both want for us to have the best life possible. So that is not to say that there was no progress after nearly a month since my last post. Origami posts will be done tonight, I need to cut some more paper first, though.

Unfortunately, my main means of photography (my mobile phone) is out of action awaiting a new charging port. I have however folded a swan (the night of my post) and a heart (a few nights ago). The heart contains a message on the back asking if she would like to be my girlfriend, we agreed to decide whether we should truly continue dating or not after the first date. I just thought it was a creative way to ask the question. Everything has been folded on a 3x3" (7.6x7.6 cm) square, which were cut from standard A4 paper. The heart was colourized using two crayons, hatched along the axes. Is colourizing a good way forward and should both the crane and swan have added colour?

The update on dating was that she was unable to meet with me on the 14th. I know that some anons may question her motives, but it is because of a very tight work schedule, I will not say much more at fear that I will reveal too much information. She wishes to meet on the 1st, but if not, then the 8th, it depends on her next schedule which releases soon. She already is hinting at a second date on the 14th before we even have had the first. I think the long initiation helps with this. We both really like each other and that the first date is the final piece to the puzzle before we decide on truly becoming boyfriend and girlfriend.

Truth be told, I came very close to saying a certain three words tonight, but I still think it is too soon, even if it has been two and a half months tomorrow. I am feeling very lucky this year, for a number of reasons, so I have a newfound sense of confidence, but I must reign it in for a time.

I wish to ask the people of this board, in case any other anons are watching. I would like a beginner friendly guides for the following.
>flowers (roses, hydrangeas, bluebells and primroses are her favourites, but anything would do, I am particularly fond of plum blossoms)
>house pets (cats, dogs and rodents)
>small birds
>fish
>horses (her favourite animal)
