Tell me why the United States can't have a federal jobs guarantee that would borrow the architecture of "New Deal Job Program" instituted under FDR's leadership?
This would put people to work building roads, bridges, airports, parks, hospitals, schools, dams, and other public facilities/infrastructure. We should embrace a guaranteed jobs program not as charity, but as strategic imperative to economic resilience.

The concept I propose involves institutionalized, lifelong guaranteed employment for citizens, confined to projects that directly improve national infrastructure, rather than transitory welfare arrangements.

>guaranteed
Does this mean I can't be fired if I don't do the job?
If so then I think we can all see the problem.
If not then it just means outsourcing HR to federal bureaucrats, and I daresay we can again all see the problem.

You don't have to trust private individuals; they aren't taking your money unless you give it to them.
On the other hand you do need to pay taxes either directly or through inflation, and unlike private ventures public ones can't go bankrupt.

Let's lay it out like this:
>Private company seeks investors for project
>You as a potential investor decide if you can trust them
>If you do then maybe you invest and if not then you don't
Contrast that with:
>As a taxpayer you are invested in the federal government, you don't get to decide
>You might however influence what laws they make
>You decide if they can be trusted with HR responsibilities for project
>If you do trust then you might vote to move ahead with project
>If you don't then vote against
So do you trust them?

Thank you for clearing that up. These factors illustrate why a centralized authority figure of sound judgment and shrewdness would benefit America.

Socialism just doesn't work. However there should be a socialist sector of economy. Not the modern obscene welfare state but more like soviet austerity. If someone wants free money or a flat they should do some government job even if it means digging a hole and filling it. And unions there should be illegal, how the fuck are there public sector unions

The United States already operates within a mixed economy between private enterprise and socialist elements (social security, unemployment benefits, subsidized housing, the VA being a form of socialized medicine, other community welfare, fire departments)..
My point ultimately is that private markets are prone to boom-bust cycles, so wouldn't it make more sense for the state to step in and give jobs to everyone who's out of work, instead of relying on the private sector or welfare systems?
>>
>>527721138
Who gives a fuck about some academic nonsense like boom bust cycles. There's an enormous obscene redistribution system, it's a moral question, not some "boom bust cycles" autistic spreadsheet optimisation one

>>I place no greater trust in these private corporations, that tolerate a massive underclass of tens of millions trapped in homelessness and exploitative, unfullfiling, underpaid work.
A moral question, you say? See my earlier comment above.

Private enterprise/welfare is the true source of your exploitation and national decay within the capitalist framework.
Now I ask you, how is it exploitation when the government provides a buffer for people and uses it to enhance the country's infrastructure at the same time?

tired long argument about sweeping isms that don't really exist in reality
>However there should be a socialist sector of economy
there already is in virtually every government
>the modern obscene welfare state
there isn't an obscene welfare state in the usa
>but more like soviet austerity
raw socialism doesn't work so why would communism
>If someone wants free money or a flat they should do some government job even if it means digging a hole and filling it
you do not necessarily deserve a flat for digging a whole in a world where a machine can do that for $10 or whatever
>And unions there should be illegal
yep you're fucking retarded.

Socialism and capitalism do actually exist in real world. They don't exist as described in Econ 101 but nothing does.
>However there should be a socialist sector of economy
>there already is in virtually every government
There is redistribution section, not really a production one.
>the modern obscene welfare state
>there isn't an obscene welfare state in the usa
Lol, there is

It's just to get 90IQ people something to do, not to create value.

They set it up to fail deliberately, so later they could wag their finger and announce, “See? Private investment is the only thing that works in practice".. They are the investment class saboteurs, and public perception is everything to them.
There's no way they'd ever let California of all states build a cutting-edge high-speed rail system that makes the rest of the country look bad by comparison. If it's to be done, it will be done by their corrupt hands alone.

Because our government is corrupt, incompetent and we have $38 TRILLION in debt. We are not China, we can't just build things, everything our government does lines the pocket of some corrupt contractor and wastes billions on red tape, corruption and just general incompetence.
Government is not going to fix our problems. We need much less of it not more of it. Get rid of the red tape and regulator bureaucracy that keep us from building things, eliminate taxes on the working class, cut government spending and raise taxes on the upper classes to balance the budget.

Yeah, you nailed it. That word gets thrown around way too freely, with every person carrying their own unique version of it in their head, which only ever confuses things further.
