Shahed: $20,000 minimum
35mm programmable airburst round: $750
Rounds needed to destroy Shahed: 10 = $7,500 :)

yeah like a field
oh no better not shoot down anything because it will crash somewhere obviously

retard

>they still have more drones than you have 35mm
nah
their production rate quoted at like 1 million drones a year, or something, is mostly those shit FPV flying grenades which are worthless

you could easily produce millions of 35mm rounds in a year which would suffice for their entire shahed production
>>
Do we care when these 35mm rounds hit the population? Would a volley fired downwards take out entire families?
Seems like a breaks a convention.

>yeah like a field
not always

shooting it down doesnt really reduce its damage potential.

air defense doesnt even work

you dont have enough 35mm turrets to cover all the land.

4 platoons of these units (1 for each cardinal direction) in every big city would be enough

no it wouldnt

>$100m weapon platform
bro it's a truck and a minigun with a radar, it's not a "$100m weapon platform" at most it costs like $1 million dollar and, get this, it can fire thousands upon thousands of 35mm rounds in its lifetime... its reusable...
>swarm
a platoon is 20 units
how many drones would you like to swarm what? and consider that these cannons are truck-mounted, they're mobile. how do you swarm a mobile unit? a platoon of mobile units?
>>
>>527730712
Wow, slow, straight flying drone....imagine how hard it must have been to hit.
Now imagine 10 of these coming at the same time....you can maybe stop 5-6, the rest will hit.
>>
>>527732006
>Now imagine 10 of these coming at the same time
Oh wait, I remember....Russia is sending these by the hundreds almost every night...while hohols have been claiming for (literally years now) how they shoot down or jamming about 90-95% percent of them every single time....yet the damage they cause is in no way syncronizing with the mentioned 90-95% interception rate.
>>
>>527730712
Still salty about Poland spending a shitload of money on tanks and other obsolete equipment in order to prepare for the role of being Ukraine 2.0?
Don't worry Kowalsky, you'll have your chance to hold your own entrails while laying in the trench.
>>
>>527731982
>it can fire thousands upon thousands of 35mm rounds in its lifetime.
Except where are you getting that many rounds? Cz the Swiss, who make these have VERY limited production for it.. >>527731169 is right. Russia makes WAY more drones then they make 35mm rounds

All that boasting about the combined west having 50 times the economic power then Russia and Russia having the GDP of Italy....and they can't even make enough ammo for their shitty anti aircraft guns.

"Air defence doesn't work"

Found the retard. Don't bring up Maduro, they were paid.

Besides, a 500k missile isn't worth to shoot down a drone so a 10k soldier is expendable to take a drone to the chest
>>
>>527732084
>Don't worry Kowalsky, you'll have your chance to hold your own entrails while laying in the trench.

Unlikely....Russia will just pound the shit out of Poland with missiles. There ain't no way they will send soldiers there....WTF for?
Although, desu, Kowalsky will still probably get a chance to hold his own entrails while lying somewhere....just not in a trench.
>>
>>527731868
How do "a few" drones swarm?
>>
>>527732216
>"Air defence doesn't work"
it literally doesnt work.
look at Ukraine, gets all the "high tech" air defense from all these countrys and they cant stop russia from demolishing their energy grid.
look at Israel, iron dome couldnt stop all the missiles and iran fucked them good.
>>
>>527732084
actually our govt signed a week ago with our MIC a $4 billion contract for a comprehensive anti-drone system which we dubbed San (from the San river, each layer of our air defense network is named after some major river, such as Wisła, Narew, Pilica), which includes ammunition production and will total 700 vehicles comprising 18 batteries (each battery consisting of 3 firing platoons and 1 support platoon)

the brutal truth is, the WW1/Iran-Iraq tier slogfest that Ukraine-Russia is, is a sign of desperation and weakness on behalf of both shit thirdie parties
for example, the russians resort to an assault by FPV drone on armored positions. if 1 FPV drone doesnt do it, they repeat it. then they repeat it again. they repeat it so much until no apparent resistance is left and their meat assault infantry can move forward.
>a normal 1st world NATO nation
would get that armored position got with 1 missile strike
but theyre short on them and theirs arent precise enough to begin with...

we're that NATO nation.
>Ukraine 2.0
the point is deterrence, russia will not dare try anything. right now they're in a slogfest with fucking ukraine! with us there wouldn't even be a slogfest but real shock & awe on our behalf, like the russian retards wanted with ukraine but failed
>>
>>527730712
They are both an important part of the modern battlefield. Drones are the new air superiority. The interceptors are are new air defense. No one sensible has said you don’t need both
>>
>>527732271
Because Russia uses missiles to attack that infrastructure, to shoot down missiles you need ABMs not AA.

The Ukraine war is the reason AA works because Russia has a larger and better air force but Ukraine has so many SAMs that it's too hard to fly over Ukraine without detection or being seen.
>>
>>527732200
our $4 billion contract consists of ammo production & 700 vehicles
crude math gives us a figure of $5 million but that includes ammunition and the fact that the MIC always jacks up prices (to turn a hefty profit)

the real cost of one unit must be in the vicinity of $1 million
>>
>>527732351
>& 700 vehicles
thats not much.

>>527730712

I doubt one would kill a family unless they were laying in a circle with their heads together and it landed directly in the center.
>>
>>527730712
That's why Russia has started using NIGGERS

Way cheaper.

Kek

I don't understand OP. Posts a video where WAY more than 10 shells were used. Doesn't understand that one system in every "big city" will stop like 5% of intended targets.

I've heard he also likes dicks. Can't confirm though.

>Shoot down 1 drone

Errr, great success I guess.
>>
>>527731923
I can think of multiple ways where that would be countered

1. You could easily send small, $100 drones towards you to overwhelm your 12 guns (4 battery platoons of 3 guns each)

2. Including loads of $20 Decoy drones, like a string of kites with a heat source in them tied together, which could be used as well to draw away your fire, expose your position, and waste your ammo

4. No strategic context for an assault on a city given. No range, either. Some drones could deploy octopod drones which can approach your positions from behind ground cover and infiltrate.

5. You are wrong about the ammo only costing $750 for the 35mm. It is flak explosive ammunition and the fuses alone are pricey for each round.

At the end of the day 12 guns and all the ammo will cost the state hundreds of thousands of dollars. A drone swarm as I described for the same amount of money would overwhelm those guns.

I just don’t think he’s really thought it through. He’s speaking more about movie action than he is focused on logistics or strategy and tactics.
>>
>>527730712
Visual range only
very expensive if it is that German system

What limits russia the most is communications and that seems to be improving. Once you get that fixed you can pin point those systems and just strike them with missiles or with other drones that have counters to them.
>>
>>527730712
Probably old footage, I read they now just fly at 5km altitude, because 35mm can't reach that high. Easier to detect, but they just use cheap dummy drones.
