gedo's awful booking. I want to like NJPW and support them fully, I've kept my NJPWWORLD sub despite barely watching in months. however, other than WK, all the shows have been filled with rando tagslop which I truly hate. based on the shitty attendance I don't think I'm the only one who dislikes the booking. More than 50% of every card is rando tagslop and tony khan snatches up anybody who gets over.

I only watch Japanese wrestling at this point and this is the thing I hate most. It feels like the backbone of both NJPW and Stardom and I'm shocked the latter is doing as well as it is given putting two multi-person teams in a ring together is lazy, not storytelling.
I only watch because not watching means I won't be watching wrestling anymore. Guess I'm back at that point.

It all went downhill after they dumped Meij because he had problems with NJPW and AEW working together.
Dude was smart enough to guide NJPW through its biggest boom period. Dude was also smart enough to know that working with AEW would be a disaster.

the only stuff I've really been enjoying lately are NWA, JCW, and CZW, but I still watch some NJPW because they still do some great stuff at times. but yeah, the problem is that the good stuff is buried in mountains of endless tagslop. the multi-man tags wouldn't be so bad if there were stories built around them, but they're always random as fuck. i'm always like "why is this match even happening? there's no reason for these people to be fighting, usually no real connection between the team members, and so it's just a huge messy spotfest with nothing on the line. I agree with you that it's lazy, and it's a shame to see such a great promotion dragged down by lazy booking.

I mostly watch it because it was the company that got me back into pro-wrestling after 15 years away. And I branched out into other Japanese companies. But pro-wrestling really feels like it's dying there.
Yeah, there's still good matches in every company. And I suppose there will always be companies doing wrestling. But it doesn't feel like it will ever be a big deal again.

allegedly having a subscription for months while sounding like the usual newfag who started watching a month ago is really funny

I think it will be big again one day, but not until something big changes. in the current situation, all these companies are like crabs in a bucket keeping each other down.

I know it's normal to do a lot of multi-man stuff on those "road to whatever" shows. but again, attendance has not been very good so maybe that's not what people want to see? I mean, they sold out the dome at WK with 3 good singles matches as the main attractions, which proves that they can still draw megadimes if the booking is right. I honestly don't understand why they wouldn't stop and reevaluate the way they book after that.
>>
>>19824622
>attendance has not been very good so maybe that's not what people want to see?
Nothing so far this year is out of the ordinary outside of Tokyo Dome and your issue isn't with the small show formats at all.

They lost all their big name talents without having those big name talents put over the younger generation. Now they're stuck with a bunch of young guys that nobody cares about that don't have any established stars to feud with to get themselves over.

Even Kevin Kelly who hates Tony Khan with every fiber of his being said Harold was a fucking idiot who almost cost NJPW their tv deal and asked questions like why would you have heels on the roster if they just get booed.

To be fair if Sanada had what it takes to be the real Reiwa Inoki he would have grabbed Gedo by the balls and told him that he was going over, and Gedo would have said 'Yes, sir!' or Sanada would walk out the door.

Is this company run by literal morons?

New Beginning in Osaka just sold out faggot
The Jap fans are all in on the new era. The only ones who aren't are gayew trannies that haven't watched since 2019 anyway, and butthurt joshifags like yourself who have a grudge against Bushiroad because you hate Stardom.

Oh no Tanahashi has ruined everything! We should've stuck with Inoki-ism when he was drawing 9k at the Dome!

sorry if some of us require halfway competent booking to enjoy a show. rando tagslop SUCKS and only the smarkiest of smarks would enjoy watching shows that are more than 50% pointless tagslop spotfests. gedo is a lazy homosexual dwarf and his beard looks like he stole nia jax's pubes and glued them to his damn face.
>>
>>19825548
first, Gedo hasn't been the booker in over 5 years
second, you watch WWE sloppa lmao nice reference queer
third, the tag matches are a function of Japanese wrestling's touring style which consist of a bunch of house shows leading up to a big marquee show. the house shows have the multi mans so the paying fans can see as many of their favorite wrestlers as they can fit onto a card. the main shows are not filled with multimans.
you're a newfag and an e-drone and i would make fun of you more but it's just redundant at this point

It's long but has tons of juicy insider details from behind the scenes back then you don't usually hear. Harold Meij & Michael Craven were a NIGHTMARE for all NJPW staff to deal with & their business partners too. They tried to tank NJPW's long standing historic TV deal with TV Asahi who own the entirety of the NJPW video library for one such example. Just listen to it all

One of the top merch sellers right now is a Young Lion who hasn't even gone one excursion yet (Murashima)
Yuto Ice cut one of the best promos in NJPW history at New Years Dash
They've got a gaijin young lion in zane that is the best looking white guy NJPW has ever had contracted as fujo bait
the future is incredibly bright and they are stacked with young talent which is why they don't mind getting rid of older guys, even high profile ones like Hiromu and Naito

Are you saying you need a new era? Because I know just the guy.
>>
>>
>>19825665
No, I didn't. That was someone else because I think ZSJ has a weird lopsided dysgenic bong face, kek.
But to answer your question: it's important in Japan when at least 70% of your audience are fujos who come to watch muscle men have emotional storylines with each other.
>>

>>
>>
>>19825587
hm its almost like the booking is not the problem; but things outside their control like a Nepo-goblin that literally has finances the size of international gdps both greater than and insulated from all the rest of wrestling affecting it, and the unique unheard of event of global oligarchs shutting down economies thus and especially hamstringing the normal and practical functioning of live entertainment events that dont run episodic tv who were stuck in an already hypochondriac land.

More like Inoki going batshit insane in the 2000s by making NJPW compete with Pride FC and K1.
Lol.

I’ve been watching Sanseitō and Conservative Party of Japan.

I understand why the joshi companies do endless tags and 6man tags, so uncle nobu can spend 15k yen on a portrait of his oshi and talk to her for 30 seconds and use the hand he "accidentally" touched her when taking the portait to jerk himself off that night.
outside of tag leagues I really don't care for undercard tagslop in AJPW, NOAH and NJPW because it's just muh faction warz with no real purpose other than wrestlers wrestling because it's a wrestling show.
>>
>>19827443
what kills me is this, they have all these different factions and those multiman matches could be used to create stories of conflict between those factions. sometimes they do that, but usually it's just random people.

*click* always has been. Kenny kept it alive after realizing he had been delayed in changing the world by the villain tonikan, the malformed nepo-libtard soicodork, who tricked him by not revealing his colors before he contract tampered with the elite bout machine. Using the power of the Seven-Star Match, the cleaner sends his energy to broadcast out from conduit Golden Ibushi into japan, keeping the home of inoki alive until he can return and takeover again where he left off.

There obsession with white boys and chasing the late 2010 American indie fans. No Bullet Club and Tony remains an a PWG fan who pretends to have seen a bunch of Liger matches instead of a guy who wants his own promotion.

This isn't talked about enough, a lot of 90s\2000s heel guys that hung out with Yakuza have too much influence in today's wrestling, the face and heel dynamic in Japan is just as messed up as it is in the west.
Everyone's character is either a corny face a cool heel or le crazy Jap and they all do flippy shit and they all sexualize themselves for perverts.
It shouldn't be like this.
