If Naito's smart he'll start easing back and letting the young guys work the bulk of the match and he just come in to do a spot or two to pop the crowd.

Kento made some comments about Kuma being a former W1 guy. If Kento sticks to that theme Ashino and Honda will likely be future challengers. With the current schedule I could see Kento squeezing in a defense against Ashino then having to face Honda after the Champion Carnival if Honda wins the Carnival.

Thinking about picking up Wrestle Universe, which of the promotions on there do you think is the best to dive into first? My first thought is Noah since I caught some Kaito, GO and Kenoh matches in the past with each of them going against each other and they've always been great from what i've seen but that was years ago and I don't really know much about the modern state of the promotion outside of those three.
>>
>>20091250
I watch NOAH and Marigold the most. Also, keep on eye out for the Monday Magic/Universe Magic shows. They're typically pretty fun and feature wrestlers from multiple promotions.

NOAH works pretty similar to NJPW and AJPW so it's easy to pick up and watch and after a few shows you'll get a sense of the major names and factions. DDT has solid matches too but it can take a little more to adjust to at first because of the low card comedy matches even if the higher card matches don't feature much or any comedy.

It's fair on their end, of course anyone would jump if promised more money and other benefits.
Don't think anyone sane would be mad for that choice, but i'll start to raise my brown if the wrestlers who get poached made in the past statements about their loyalty to the promotion and shit like that
>>
>>20097397
It's not like AEW who just hire people on a whim with an already super bloated roster either. There are actual spots that need to be filled, so this isn't as offensive as other poaching attempts.

>[Zero1] Katsuhiko Nakajima wins his first-ever singles match with Hayabusa: “I savored the current Hayabusa to the fullest.”

>At Shinsei Zero1’s March 20 event at Tokyo’s Shin-Kiba 1st RING, “XX Style” Katsuhiko Nakajima (38) fought through a hard battle and defeated the “legendary immortal phoenix” Hayabusa in their first-ever one-on-one match.

>In February, Nakajima had shown up at the Zero1 dojo, leading to this singles match with Hayabusa after he said, “I’m interested in you.” At the Feb. 28 Itabashi event, Nakajima was on an upswing after defeating Zero1’s ace candidate Junya Matsunaga, and he started this match by attacking methodically. When Hayabusa targeted his right arm, Nakajima answered by damaging Hayabusa’s right knee with a dragon screw and stomps. He followed with a flurry of his trademark kicks, then cornered Hayabusa with repeated running “spear” kicks.

>Hayabusa refused to yield, firing back with a swan-dive senton and a moonsault press. After 15 minutes, they traded a backdrop and a German suplex and both went down in a fierce struggle. Hayabusa went for the finish with a Falcon Arrow into his Phoenix Splash, but Nakajima countered by raising both knees. After “shooting down” the phoenix, Nakajima sealed it with a vertical spike and a full-power Northern Lights Bomb.
>>
>>20102556

>After the decisive win, Nakajima praised his opponent and shook his hand: “I savored the current Hayabusa to the fullest. Hayabusa’s history is incredible—dense time, a wonderful history. But Katsuhiko Nakajima’s history has been its own journey too. Today felt good. I never thought it would feel this good.” He then offered Hayabusa a spot on his self-produced show on May 31 at Osaka’s Azalea Taisho Hall. Hayabusa accepted: “Of course I’ll do it. No—please let me.”

>In a post-match interview, Nakajima added: “He was beyond what I expected. I felt a similar ‘scent’ to myself. While learning the history of Hayabusa, I think he’ll create a new Hayabusa.” He also expressed interest in continuing to appear for Zero1: “As a freelancer, it’s great stimulation. If I get another offer, I want to come back.”

>>20107544

>>
Just finished the 3/20 AJPW show. My only particular complaint is the show felt a little long. The actual matches were good though for the most part. The Talos match against Jun Saito was better than his match against Kento Miyahara. Atsuki & Rising Hayato was a bit too safe a choice to win the tournament but it's fine. Kuma did okay in the main event but it wasn't one of Kento's strongest defenses but I still had fun with it. Having all of the Wrestle-1 guys come out to support Kuma was a nice touch. I'm really interested in Omori's comments he made after the show though about how he's the one training the young boys in the dojo now and we'll be seeing them in the ring next month. I'm happy to hear that because AJPW has been painfully slow with cranking out talent from the dojo so if AJPW finally has that fixed that's a huge plus.

The New Year show was a big increase compared to last year, I know that for sure. Don't know about the other shows.

I don't completely understand what's going on with the Carnival storywise. Omori is claiming he's annoyed he wasn't put in it and plans to run an unofficial "C Block" and called out Ashino and Yuma Aoyagi as people he wants to face in the block. My gut says Honda will win the Carnival and get the Triple Crown off Kento then the winner of "C Block" will be the one to challenge Honda but I could be wrong.
>>
>>20110472
the fact that shunma was coming back and ddt got a new stable was a dead giveaway for losing the six man tag belt but to me losing the kod against that guy is questionable for several reasons.

Just finished the 3/21 AJPW show. Filler show so little to comment on except I'm a little surprised AJPW is protecting Yuma Aoyagi this much since his return. He's having to wrestle a bit more toned down and be more respectful to the crowd but he isn't eating pins so far. He wrestled Hideki Suzuki to time limit in his dark match. Omori ate the pin on the 20th and in this Aoyagi pins Kofuji. Hideki Suzuki did ban him from Baka No Jidai but that doesn't seem to mean much beyond Aoyagi can't expect the faction to back him up on anything. I think AJPW is wanting Yuma to evolve as a character from the incident but I'm not sure what that final transformation will be. Also it was killing me to know what the Baka No Jidai music is and I finally found it.

>>
>>20107544
He actually did. Didn’t blow any spots. Hit the rope walk DDT and the Destino perfectly. He was also bumping all over the place. Bushi mentioned Naito being down ten pounds in the backstage interview so that probably helped.

>Announcement: Kazusada Higuchi to Retire from Professional Wrestling

>Kazusada Higuchi will retire from professional wrestling following the April 5 Tokyo Korakuen Hall event.

>During a routine health checkup regularly conducted by the organization, a subluxation of the first and second cervical vertebrae was confirmed, and the doctor diagnosed that "continuing contact sports is dangerous." In response, we have carefully reviewed and discussed the possibility of continuing his active career with Higuchi himself, the doctor, and the organization, but regrettably, we have reached the conclusion of retirement.

>Note that Higuchi will not hold a retirement match, and a retirement ceremony will be held within the same event.

>We sincerely thank all the fans who have supported Higuchi up to this point. We kindly ask for your warm cheers until the very end.

I imagine retirement is a bitter decision, but everything comes down to being alive. I pray that your life after retirement will be filled with many fortunate days. Thank you.

>>20118497
Oh to be clear on this, There was no tear or anything lik that. Ueno added this surgery is happening not because of a trauma he sustained during the last match but it's just genetic stuff. Fortunately they doing regular checkups and found out that beforehand
>>
>>20118424
Really unfortunate news. Higuchi was one of my favorites when I was more active in watching DDT.

>>20118573
The fan reaction to having Aoyagi back has been really positive even if the wider puro world haven't been so thrilled. The match was apparently also aired on tv so I'm guessing AJPW just decided to let people see it and call it a day. I think Hideki Suzuki put it best in that in situations like this there isn't really one right answer so you just have to do something. He also hinted all of this will be playing part in Aoyagi potentially changing his gimmick so we'll see where that leads.

I see some good match potential in this year's Carnival though I'm not super thrilled about some of the people in it. Odyssey at least does a lot of AJPW shows so I get why they gave him a slot but Cyrus is only a part timer at best. If they didn't want to use Ashino or Omori for story reasons they could have at least borrowed another Dragon Gate guy or something.

>[NOAH] OZAWA gives Tetsuya Naito an “end-of-life planning” notice — senses decline on first contact: “He’s already hit his ‘limit.’”

>NOAH’s OZAWA (29) has issued what he calls an “end-of-life planning” recommendation to Los Ingobernables de Japon (LTJ)’s Tetsuya Naito (43). With a GHC Tag Team title challenge against champions Naito & BUSHI (April 12, Nagoya) looming—OZAWA teaming with Jun Masaoka—OZAWA had his first-ever encounter with the “Ungovernable Man” at the Shinagawa show on the 25th. He says what he felt, trading blows up close, was the charisma star’s “decline.”

>On the day, OZAWA wrestled in a trio with the villain unit TEAM 2000X’s Masa Kitamiya and Takashi Sugiura against LTJ’s Naito, BUSHI, and RYUSEI. The match ended with Kitamiya pinning RYUSEI with a diving senton, bringing victory to their side.

>After his first match against Naito, OZAWA told reporters: “No matter how you look at it, he’s not in shape. You can tell just by how he runs, even before you get to the moves. Tetsuya’s already hit his ‘limit.’” He likened Naito’s wrestling life to music and cut him down: “The song called ‘Tetsuya Naito’ is already nearing its end. He might think he’s still in the ‘chorus,’ but he needs to be moving toward the finale. That’s exactly why there’s a gap between his ideal self and who he is now…”—a blunt dismissal that also presumed to analyze Naito’s mindset.
>>
>>20135392
>OZAWA then laid out his own theory: that Naito should make this an “Naito Final Season” by adopting a completely different style and moveset. “I’m still totally in the chorus myself, so it’s hard for me to give advice,” he said, before sending an overbearing suggestion anyway: “But guys like those ‘Dragons’ who kept wrestling past 70, or—can’t remember the name—‘Take-something’ whose knees were always bad… I think in their later years they dropped down a gear, two gears, three gears. So maybe he should just copy the predecessors.”

>He kept provoking ahead of the title match as well: “I just don’t want him to self-destruct. Like his knee starts hurting in the middle of the match and he can’t move, or the ropes start looking like five or six and he can’t move. I sincerely want him to at least make the match happen.” Which side will the goddess of victory smile on?

>Suwama Moves from President of Pro-Wrestling Evolution to Executive Director Following Business Transfer:

>At Evolution’s March 28 Shinjuku show, Suwama announced he would step down as president. The promotion’s business operations will be transferred to Only Advance Co., with Suwama taking on the role of Executive Director.

>Following the show, Suwama appeared in the press area alongside Chairman of the Board of Directors at Evolution Co., Ltd. Keiichi Matsuki. Matsuki explained, “Our core business has become quite busy, and it has become difficult to devote resources to Evolution. Therefore, we are announcing that the business will be transferred to Only Advance, who will continue the operations.”

>From April 1, Evolution will be operated by Only Advance Co. Suwama expressed gratitude to Chairman Matsuki and declared, “This marks the revival of the ‘Rampaging Executive Director’! I still want to keep building excitement.”

>To everyone — this is a notice.

>First, I sincerely apologize for causing you concern, as my appearances at matches and my SNS updates have been delayed all of a sudden.

>Up to now, I have held repeated discussions with the organization about my future, but after coming to understand each other’s ways of thinking, we reached the conclusion that it would be best for each of us to walk our own path.

>Therefore, after reconsidering my own future and life, I will be leaving at the end of this month.

>In addition, in order to take a break and reset while looking toward the future, I will be temporarily suspending my activities starting April 1.

>The experiences and lessons I gained in the organization are an irreplaceable asset to me, and I am grateful from the bottom of my heart to everyone involved. I would also like to once again express my thanks to all the fans who have supported me every day.

>Going forward, I will continue forward on the path I believe in, and work hard so that I can return to the ring as an even more grown person.

>I would be grateful for your continued support.

>[The Ranking: An in-depth investigation of things people are curious about] Suwama (49), the “runaway president” who leads Pro Wrestling Evolution and is a member of All Japan Pro Wrestling, named the finishing moves he found most memorable to take from opponents.

>The first one he chose was 34th Triple Crown Champion Taiyo Kea’s Wave Riding Suplex. Passed down to him by Johnny Ace, it is a move where he applies a cobra clutch and then throws his opponent backward in one motion. Fitting for Kea, who is from Hawaii, he renamed it “Wave Riding” and made it his finishing hold.

>Suwama warned, “That move just drives straight into the top of your skull. It messed up my neck too, and it’s dangerous. It’s probably better not to force it.”

>The next one he picked was “either Keiji Muto’s Shining Wizard or Moonsault Press.” The Shining Wizard, also known as the “flash wizardry,” uses the force of stepping off the knee of a kneeling opponent to drive a knee into the opponent’s face. The Moonsault Press, meanwhile, is a backward somersault from the corner post that crushes the opponent under the wrestler’s own body weight. The runaway president narrowed his eyes and said, “More than anything, they felt fresh. They were sharp, too. Muto-san was cool.”
>>
>>20161646
>And the “dangerous move” he least wanted to take was a stomp from former yokozuna Akebono, who passed away in April 2024. Akebono had original finishing holds such as the Akebono Splash and Yokozuna Impact. But Suwama revealed, “It’s not even about it being a move from Yokozuna-san (Akebono), who I also served as an attendant for. It’s just that he gets on top of you and steps down. That’s the toughest thing.”

>He then added, “He stands on top of your body and just stomps with his feet, but he weighs 200 kilos. It’s rough because of how hard it is, but every time he stomps on me with that weight, I automatically fart. Like, brrt. Even if I try to hold it in, it still comes out, b-brrt. That’s embarrassing, isn’t it? You just can’t stop farting. That one was really a problem.”

less than amicable breakup:

>To all fans and affiliated parties,

>We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support of DRAGONGATE’s activities.

>We are writing regarding the announcement made on social media by our contracted wrestler Dragon Dia that he is leaving the promotion.

>We would like to provide our explanation from the company’s side concerning this matter.

>First of all, we deeply apologize for causing concern to everyone, and also for the delay in providing an explanation.

>Dragon Dia had previously informed us of his desire to leave the promotion.

>However, because this arose during the term of his exclusive contract with our company, and because responses and adjustments were necessary in various areas, our intention was to proceed properly through discussion.

>We were not insisting on strict performance of every aspect of the contract, and we believed the best course was for both sides to meet face-to-face and discuss the matter. We conveyed this to Dragon Dia as well.

>Nevertheless, Dragon Dia notified us through his representative that he would leave the promotion as of the end of February 2026.

>Because discussions ended up being conducted through his representative, we were unable to have constructive and smooth talks, and as a result we had no choice but to proceed in accordance with the contract.
>>
>>20161927
>From our company’s standpoint, we simply could not accept his departure in a way that left behind the fans and affiliated parties, and because discussions were being conducted through a representative, we had refrained from making any announcement from our side.

>We also made every effort to ensure that the March 15 Nagano event could be held as Dragon Dia’s homecoming show, but we were unable to make that happen. We offer our deepest apologies to the fans who had been looking forward to it.

>In light of Dragon Dia’s announcement, we determined that an explanation from our company was also necessary, and that is why we have now issued this statement.

>As we believe further discussions through his representative will be necessary going forward, we ask for your understanding that we are unable to explain the details at this stage.

>Naito further commented on the attendance of 1,012 people that day, saying, "Did you see the turnout at Korakuen Hall today? It was about 75%." He continued, "Some people might think that this means LTJ's momentum is waning. But this is Pro Wrestling Noah's ring. OZAWA, Kiyomiya, and Inamura should be bringing in more fans, shouldn't they? I certainly feel responsible, but I want them to also feel responsible for the empty seats today."
>Naito then added, "I'm an outsider, and yet I feel a sense of responsibility. It would be strange if I didn't feel it even more than that. Well, if you consider that, I think you can go far above me."

They heavily bloated their numbers pre-CIMA and the old president leaving. Today they are posting more realistic numbers (though still bloating some events)

>To Everyone

>Regarding this matter, since there has been an announcement from the agency as well, I would like to provide some additional clarification to avoid any misunderstandings.

>First, regarding discussions about my departure from the group, we have held multiple direct meetings since last autumn.
>During those discussions, there were talks about the conditions associated with the departure (such as penalties or activity restrictions), and since the content was difficult to assess based on my own knowledge alone,
>I consulted with experts and have since been proceeding with negotiations through my representative.

>Additionally, regarding my intention to depart, as well as the timing and content of the announcement, these were communicated in advance to the other party's representative through my representative before proceeding.
>All of these were measures to advance the discussions in a more appropriate and calm manner, and were decisions aimed at achieving a smooth resolution.
>As negotiations are still ongoing, the details I can share are limited, but I will continue to approach this with sincerity moving forward.

>On my end, I intended to make the departure announcement without touching on any aspects of the negotiations with the agency.
>However, since the agency's announcement includes descriptions of the circumstances, I am reluctantly providing this supplement.

>I would appreciate your continued support and understanding.

YAMATO is going full scorched earth on Magnum, CIMA & Kotoka

>"Some of my old posts are resurfacing now, huh. I find myself wondering what that promo at the time was really about. Got my hopes up, I guess. I know it's pointless to expect things from other people. But I still got my hopes up. I guess nobody can really replace YAMATO after all."

>"A lot of things happened over 20 years. I myself have had plenty of moments where I questioned the company's stance. Every time, I went and asked the company directly. And every time, the answer that came back was something like — 'Oh, so that's what that was about.' Answers that made sense.
>The guys who dumped all over the place on their way out are just saying whatever's convenient for them.
>Truth is, I really can't stand dishonesty.

>There's no way I can talk about everything that happened on X. 'You need to hear both sides' — give me a break.
>Since I'll take all the mud on behalf of DRAGONGATE's honor,
>Aoki Yasuhiro-san— let's do a closed-door, pro wrestling world dark money seminar. I'll spill every last truth about the guys who dumped all over the place on their way out.

the one time ddt posted numbers was months ago when takagi was out and went over to indonesia or whatever, it was about 1.2k for the previous jp show iirc
akito said people get too obsessed with numbers and that’s why they don’t post them anymore

But it's pretty easy to tell when a big show or a house one is selling well just looking at the tickets left.
Last Korakuen shows sold out, not sure about the upcoming one since Higuchi's retirement was planned quite hastily (was surprised to read he not going to do the classical autograph session, but i understand why)

I guess Dragongate is putting all the blame on Dia and none on New Japan if they're not pulling Hyo?
>>

It seems to be more of a contract disagreement between Dragongate & Dia.

His eyes were fine. He did not suffer a retina tear caused by a trauma. During an examinations done by the company, classic checkup, they found that it is possible he may tear it (he said he's genetically predisposed). He undergo a laser surgery to reinforce it. The doctor advised to not do any physical activity for a week.

ah, i see, thank you for explaining. i was expecting him to look like naito for a while, glad it’s nothing major
>>
Bit behind but finished the 4/3 AJPW show. I suspect they're going to keep Yuma Aoyagi busy this year by having him do a lot of story with Hokuto Omori at this rate. I'm not that familiar with 2AW but Ashino's match was decent. The main event has Hideki Suzuki being one of the gems of the promotion.
>>
>>20189179
No thankfully was nothing serious, I didn't know shit about this procedure so expected him to stay indoor like when you get lasered your eyes but the day after he was out on a date with Takeshita kek
>>
Finally, Harashima with a fucking belt. Mao and the other dude were getting stale.
>>
So are the two tagging with Shunma friends with Higuchi?
>>
>>20189306
that boy doesn’t sit down for anything, does he? lol
>>20189408
as much as i adore mao, i gotta agree, their title run wasn’t the greatest thing ever and i love that cheerful 50 old man
>>
>>20189471
DNA first generation. I think the last ones active in DDT are Shunma, MAO, Ueno, Iino and Yoshimura.
>>20189492
IKR which make me think what he gonna do since he not in the BOSJ lineup and King of DDT

Is that young bussin guy Reyes in LTJ good? Also their merch is on point

No idea what's up with him, not saying that he's bad but outside the first defenses and the really good tag in January, to me he in a slump. Can't tell if it's the booking or this new stable.

i get impression from him lately too. i understand him wanting to lead a group after him pointing out that everything revolves around 37kamiina but i definitely wouldn’t have guessed that this is where he would end up after BOSJ last year kek
SLC is just a weird ass group of people, maybe that’s the point given the name but it feels so thrown together to me. i’m hoping mao goes back into singles now that they lost the tag belts
>>
>>20190228
This is my personal impression, sorry for the tl;dr but him leaving sauna boys was probably to split him and ueno and not have too many strong players (and characters) in one stable.
At first I thought that what he was doing with SLC felt like a pet-project to try to raise a mid-carder like kanon as top guy. Now, I geet the reason because DDT needs heavyweights but kanon doesn't have thee star qualities.to me. (the match he had with ueno was amazeballs because ueno is good and knows how to sell others, but kanon's mic is severely lacking)
I think he's focusing a lot of other players, in the same way that Brookes took first Masada and now Kasai's kid.
But SLC is kind of random especially since they added Naya, Iino (because Iino is doing his rugby side thing and Apex couldn't wrestle together all the time) and now Keigo.

>>
>>20191229
It's heartbreaking to see him leave but better like this than in another way.
>>
>>20191245
It's wild to see Higuchi have to retire but guys like Takagi and Akiyama are still trucking. Just shows you never know how long you'll last in the business.
>>
>>20191262
It's wild, but unfortunately the kind of injuries he sustained are the worst ones and you can't do much... which is why I'm paying for Yoshimura to stay healthy for long
>>
Nothing confirmed yet but there's some claims Titans of Calamity won NWA's Crockett Cup. If it's true then the Titans make the first AJPW tag team to ever win the Cup.
>>
>>20192125
