>[Dragon Gate] Shun Skywalker: “I don’t get what this even means” — A cage match on April 26 against Gahdokuro with “unit disbandment” on the line

>At Dragon Gate’s Korakuen Hall show on the 6th, it was decided that PSY PATRA, led by Shun Skywalker, and Gahdokuro, led by Kikuta Madoka, will face off in a six-way cage match on the 26th in Aichi with the disbandment of their units on the line.

>Originally, this cage match had been scheduled as a Mascara contra Cabellera match, in which the loser would lose either their mask or their hair, with PSY PATRA’s Shun and El Cielo set to face Gahdokuro’s Kato Yoshiki and BIGBOSS Shimizu. However, on this day it was decided that Homare of PSY PATRA and Minoura Kota of Gahdokuro, whose rivalry has continued, would also be added to the match. Then, after the main event, Shimizu got into the ring and announced that he would be absent due to damage to the meniscus and ligaments in his right knee.

>Upon hearing this, Shun made Shimizu sit in the middle of the ring and tried to cut his hair without even waiting for the match. However, Kikuta stepped in to stop him and offered to take Shimizu’s place himself.

>But Shun brushed him off, saying that the shaved-headed Kikuta “has nothing to put on the line, so there’s no point in you being in the cage.” In response, Kikuta made an even bigger proposal: “If, by any chance, a Gahdokuro member loses, we’ll disband. We’re entering the cage with each of our heads of hair, and our disbandment, on the line.”

>Shun still refused, but Homare went ahead and accepted on his own, saying, “Then we’ll put the disbandment of us in PSY PATRA on the line too.” Shun resisted, saying, “I don’t get what this even means. Don’t say such stupid crap,” but Cielo also sided with Homare. After that, under the mediation of General Manager Saito Ryo, the match was officially made.

>We regret to announce that Cyrus, who had been scheduled to compete in Champion Carnival 2026 starting on Sunday, April 12 at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, will now miss the entire tour.

>[Background to the absence]

>In preparation for Cyrus’s participation in Champion Carnival 2026, our company had been confirming the event schedule, flight information, accommodations, and compensation with him. After reaching a contractual agreement, we announced his participation and continued making arrangements for his trip to Japan, including obtaining a visa. However, we then remained unable to contact him for some time, and today, when we asked the airline through his agency to confirm his boarding status, it was discovered that the airline ticket he had originally been scheduled to use had been canceled by Cyrus himself. At this time, we have received absolutely no report from him regarding the cancellation of the ticket, and as a result, our company has concluded that it will be difficult for him to participate in Champion Carnival 2026.

>We deeply apologize to all customers who were looking forward to Cyrus’s matches.

>The replacement entrant for Champion Carnival 2026 will be announced at a press conference tomorrow.

Cyrus got a good pop from the crowd when he last returned. And it was light work, he'd do the same generic big scary gaijin stuff pretty much every time and it got a good reaction. Seemed like a pretty sweet gig for an older guy with no major company prospects. Surprised he'd throw it away.

I thought it was odd AJPW kept booking him when he seemed more hesitant about coming over compared to the other gaijins. I don't see AJPW booking him ever again unless he gives a good reason. In a weird way this makes me happy though. Cyrus isn't that interesting in the ring. I'd love to see AJPW use the slot to bring in an interesting freelancer or use Talos' connections with Billy Corgan to bring in a NWA rep in exchange for letting the Titans be in the Crockett Cup.

AJPW seems to be the only place he was working and the schedule he had was really light compared to the other gaijin. I'm baffled Cyrus would piss that away because at his age and skill level I can't see other promotions biting on him.

Coming in with an icecold boomer take but Shiro Koshinaka v Takada and Hash v Takada >>> Mutoh v Takada 1 & 2. The pop the first matches finish gets makes it worth watching, but Goddamn are those two matches fucking boring otherwise and I enjoy good hold based matches, Billy Robinson vs Inoki from 75 is the perfect pro match. Mutoh is so hit and miss its incredible, you'll watch him vs Tenryu from 2001 and walk away thinking "wow this guy fucking rules" and then you'll watch him as Muta against Sasaki in 97 and want to blow your brains out.

>[All Japan] Aoyagi Yuma enters CC in place of Cyrus: “Now that I’ve been chosen, I’m aiming to win it”

>It was announced on the 9th that Aoyagi Yuma (30) will enter B Block of All Japan Pro Wrestling’s spring showcase, Champion Carnival (CC, opening April 12 at Korakuen Hall), replacing the absent Cyrus.

>The previous day, on the 8th, the promotion announced Cyrus’s withdrawal, citing the continued inability to contact him and the cancellation of the airline ticket he had been scheduled to use. At a press conference held in Tokyo on this day, Yuma appeared as the replacement wrestler. In November of last year, Yuma caused a traffic accident in Numazu, Shizuoka while his driver’s license had expired, and he returned from a three-month suspension at the March Korakuen show. He had not originally been entered in this year’s CC, despite holding the record as the youngest winner in tournament history (2022, at 26 years and 6 months old).

>Taking the microphone, Yuma appeared unsettled and said, “This came as a complete surprise. More than anything, I’m just praying Cyrus is safe.” When asked why he had been chosen as the replacement, he could only answer, “I don’t know.”

>Even so, toward Honda Ryuki, who is in the same block and is aiming to break the youngest winner record, he bared his fangs and said, “I’ll stop him even if I have to take him down with me.” He then added, “Now that I’ve been chosen, I’m aiming to win it, and if things had gone as usual, Omori Hokuto and Ashino Shotaro probably would’ve been in it too. I wouldn’t mind collecting their bones for them.” With this arrogant remark, he took a jab at two roster members who were not entered in the CC. He went on to vow victory with another caustic line: “I’m going to stand in front of every single person who didn’t want me in this tournament and raise the winner’s trophy right in front of them.” The festival is off to a turbulent start.

That article is wild. Seems like Naito was fleeced with this UNPASO thing. But also:

> Any pro-wrestling fan would probably want to point out that it's strange that Naito, the most popular wrestler in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, the top organization in the industry, would only contribute 1 million yen. It's true that he had assets worth hundreds of millions of yen when he left New Japan Pro-Wrestling, but he lost them due to personal circumstances before establishing UNPASO.

So it sounds like he got fleeced even *before* UNPASO? Or made a really bad investment at least.

I didn't see Suzuki mentioned anywhere so not sure what exactly his gripe is. The names in the article are all aliases (Mr X, Mr C, Mr A, etc) so I guess there's speculation he's one of those names?
>>
>>20217276
There is also a second part, I forgot to post it, my bad
>https://www.kk-bestsellers.com/articles/-/4241769/1/

Also I think now his name got removed from the article, Probably he got mentioned about the VISA issue since Suzuki Minoru is one of those japanese wrestlers who travel abroad a lot for work reason

>I can't understand why Omori Hokuto is being treated so badly. With Silas out, Omori and Ashino are among those who could have moved up, so why did they choose him of all people? It's understandable that people would think it's a farce, and I think they were planning to have him compete from the start.

Surprised to see AJPW fan being openly about this considered what happened before got minimal backlash
>Looking at X, it's clear that even among All Japan fans, there are mixed opinions about Aoyagi's Champion Carnival. Well, the people who were in favor were scary, to the point where they were truly fanatics.
>We don't really know why Aoyagi was chosen as the replacement, or if they even properly searched for Silas, so it's understandable that people would say it was a rigged match.
>I'm an All Japan fan, but even I can't defend the Aoyagi incident and Yano's signing. Entering someone who did something not much different from what Kanemura and Yoshizawa Hitomi did is just insulting, and deliberately picking up someone who committed a sexual crime and making them a trainee is just plain stupid.
>Shiozaki, too, betrayed All Japan once and returned to Noah, but then he left Noah again, so it's strange that he's returning to All Japan, and it's also strange that All Japan would accept that so easily.
>>
>>20217696
Supposedly Ashino requested the Carnival off in order to try to heal from injuries so he's being put on a lighter schedule. Even then however there's zero reason it couldn't have been Omori. If anything Cyrus is a Hokuto-gun member. It'd make tons of sense to replace him with Omori and let Omori be an underdog in the Carnival because Omori's proven he plays the role of an underdog really well. Putting in Aoyagi to me just signals that either AJPW is terrified that the Carnival won't sell well and is trying to put in someone they think will draw or Aoyagi is winning a politics fight backstage or AJPW is caving in to demands from Aoyagi's fanboys. I don't think AJPW needed to fire Aoyagi but since he's been back they've been booking him pretty strong instead of making him eat pins in low card matches so it feels like AJPW isn't going to even try to punish him. As for Yano what he did was shitty but I get why AJPW decided to bite. Yano apologized to the woman and she accepted the apology. It puts Yano on super thin ice in the industry but I get why AJPW is giving him one final chance.
>>
Does Nosawa still book NOAH?
>>

>>
>>20218851
I think the Carnival looks decent this year ignoring the controversies. You have some like Odyssey that aren't that good as singles wrestlers but there's a lot of solid matchups like Yuma Anzai vs Go Shiozaki this week. Even ignoring whether Aoyagi deserves to be in it or not he will put on better matches than Cyrus so there is that pro.

KWAB to New Japan for somehow losing original TMDK members especially as the tag division gets revitalized.

Just finished Night 1 of the Champion Carnival. Damn good show. Daisuke Sekimoto vs Yuma Aoyagi and Yuma Anzai vs Go Shiozaki are the must watch matches of the night. A surprising amount of blood in this show between Sato having a bloody mouth, Sekimoto scraping his head open by accident, and Shiozaki busting his nose. Sekimoto getting bloody then getting back in the ring to a monster pop from the crowd will definitely be one of my favorite moments of the year. You can tell Go Shiozaki is really motivated too though I'm sure NOAH saying he can't handle doing a N1 last year may have played a role in that. The only weak match on the whole card was Xyon vs Hideki Suzuki but it's so short it doesn't suck too much energy out of the show overall. If the rest of the Carnival is this year this will easily blow last year's Carnival out of the water.

Togo's role is to be there for the top heavyweight in HOT, which was EVIL and Narita. They don't need him for BOSJ outside some tags

I totally forgot that last year for the same show he was booked tagging with sasaki vs takeshita and ueno. But thanks for the clarification.

I don’t know. Naito mostly just sold during the last tag match and they were definitely holding back for this singles. Naito has looked better and trimmed down but it’s still 2026 Naito. I think Ozawa is athletic and flashy enough to smoke screen Naito’s limitations.

Go vs Anzai was fantastic. I only saw the main and semimain I have to watch the rest still.

Apparently Yuma Anzai is going to be on Japan's version of The Bachelorette. Kinda silly but it's following what AJPW has been doing lately where they're trying to get their wrestlers noticed in other things to generate interest in the promotion. The Saitos got popular with people off their food videos and they took on the son of some famous comedian for a young boy so this seems to be continuing that trend.

they need to recruit some more college shooters

So that explain why he disappeared out of the blue for like a month kek
Looking at how wrestling promotions trying to lure new people to get interested I think that Anzai being in the Bachelorette might not work (it might just give public to the show, because Anzai's fans will watch it). I think for japanese Saitos' are more appealing to a wider demography because their mascot-like look.

It's interesting to look at this kind of "new" marketing strategies because clearly wrestling as a whole is trying to get in their public younger people, especially women.

In few hours DDT Korakuen show

Weekday Korakuen for DDT is unusual. Don't expect to see the show fully booked even with YOH presence.
I wonder why they picked today instead of the next Sunday show. Maybe is because of YOH or Iino's schedule (since Iino is signed to an american rugby team i noticed he missed few shows)
>>
It's been a while since I saw DDT pull an hardcore like this. That was good, not fully sold on Okatani because the silent character is lazy but he and Naya pulled some nasty bumps

he can’t keep getting away with this. he can’t keep looking that hot while getting his ass beat
would’ve been cool to see harashima be a triple champ but alas.
it was a fun show regardless, i wonder if higuchi was supposed to face ueno next instead of ishida

>>20247403
Ishida? No challengers this time, there is King of DDT. He was just encouraging him in his post match mic.
