it's my favorite cartoon of all time. i could gush about it for days. feels like it was tailor made for me as a fan of 1950s sci-fi manga. it has so many deep cut references it's insane. you can tell Ciro Nieli was genuinely passionate about this stuff and the show feels like a passion project through and through. he even insisted on getting Japanese animators on it when most cartoons use Korean ones because they're cheaper, but he wanted that authentic feel. i wish TMNT 2012 resonated with me as much as SRMTHFG but it felt too restrained, must've been the executive meddling from Nick. only the last season feels truly Nieli.

i don't trust the modern Western animation industry to do it justice, unless Ciro decides to go full indie like Jorge Gutierrez and Dana Terrace did recently. but above all else i'd just like to see a movie or special picking up from the cliffhanger in the last episode. that's all the series really needs. Chiro's VA is dealing with parkinsons which impedes his acting at the moment so i don't see it happening in the near future.

i remember him too. and my answer to his question is: go full indie. regardless of what you think of their cartoons, GLITCH is singlehandedly saving the western animation industry. as for the Japanese one... all they need to do is stop bending the knee to the West and trying to appeal to the international market. people like anime specifically because it's Japanese and carries the values of a different culture. if you make it indistinguishable from any other cartoon, then it loses what made it special. OH, and that anime is Mashin Hero Wataru, it's a fun fantasy mecha series from the 80s.

i get that. it's hard to break the ice when you're first meeting someone and you can't really gauge the energy they're giving off or what they're all about. that's why i never start off with voice chatting. i like getting to know someone through text for a while first, and then when we're more comfortable we can jump into vc and it'll be less awkward because we'd have already formed a bond through text.
