I'm quite new (2,5 years here) so I may be wrong, but it can be annoying for three reasons:
1. Anonymity is broken if you start signing your posts. You probably doesn't matter with anonymity being broken, but some users are annoyed by that.
2. The name/tripfag is just annoying and a low quality poster attention whore.
3. The name/tripfag creates recurring threads that are just annoying and pointless (specially if you are a neet obese retarded woman or a girl manifesting a high iq autistic man)

In the defense of avatarfags, some users like some few avatarfags that are kindly contributing to this board and having a nice chat with anons.
