Wages have been suppressed for so long while costs have continued to rise that a lot of industries are facing breaking points where most people are literally too broke to afford their products. It's a problem that has been a long time in the the making, but is only now reaching a tipping point where "journalists" and "market analysts" have to pretend to not see the obvious problem and keep trying to find other explanations as to why younger generations keep "killing" certain industries that they simply can't afford anymore. It's the simple solution that everyone pretends not to see
>guess people just don't like pizza anymore lol

Yes because Gen Z has even less money than millennials and Gen Alpha has less than Gen Z. Each generation used to be richer than the last, but now each generation is getting progressively poorer

That's what this article is about? And people are still falling for it? Christ, I knew exactly the reason why "Gen Z Doesn't Like Going to Bars" without even reading the article, it's because beer costs $8 a pop and a month's supply of edibles costs the barely more than that.

$8 for a pizza in 2026 and Americans say they can't afford to eat their fastfood slop.

That's certainly true too, but wage stagnation still plays a role. It's because people make so little money that they need to be more cost conscious and choose the month supply of edibles over the single beer. If people made more money, it wouldn't be such an issue to splurge on a few beers

you can't find a pizza for less than $12 anymore, unless you're buying a frozen pizza or something
and that's just a basic, single-topping pizza. A specialty pizza goes for about $20.
