What is the 2026 STEM degree equivalent of last decade's Comp Sci degree? Easy job easy money.

Airplane pilot
Risky af though. A friend of mine wanted to put me into their air taxi company and they were doing all sorts of crazy shit.
Pipe on the plane broke? Grab the one from the truck and put it in, whatever
Autonomy of 600 miles? Lets fly at 16000ft instead of 8000ft on a tiny plane to get there faster
Before you go to airlines you have to drive tiny shitboxes from the 80s. I wasn’t taking chances, we’re not in the 80s anymore. The planes are all maintained by brown people.

15 years ago Boomers all wanted flashy new tech to make life easier, so they pushed everyone into STEM.
10 years ago Boomers all wanted tech startups to invest in, so they pushed everyone into CompSci.
5 years ago Boomers all wanted cheap labor to work on their houses, so they pushed everyone back into trades.
Now Boomers are all looking at retirement and they're pushing everyone into nursing.

You need to take like 10 tests for iq, reaction speed, multitasking, orientation, physical ability, general medical knowledge, physics, math, psychological, personality, etc to get in AND THEN you need to get a fuck ton of very expensive certs just to be able to fly ONE plane.
Very high effort, high reward

Nurse practitioner or physician's assistant. Because people live longer and have better access to healthcare and nursing homes, wealth goes from the dying elderly to the healthcare industry rather than to their descendants.

Why? Aerospace is such a niche field. Aeros have a harder time getting a job compared to like every other major engineering major. Just get a mechanical engineering degree, which opens you to a lot more broads fields you can work in. The difference between MechE and AerospaceE is like a semester.

Comp Sci probably is I agree, but there is still a large demand for other skilled STEM positions. ChemE MechE EE CivilE you name it. Niche fields like Aero or Nuclear might have a harder time than those large 4 fields.

Correct. With AI and EVs there is going to be a upshoot in electrical demand in the next decade, which requires skilled EE's with an emphasis in Power.

No there's no jobs for electrical engineering
