H
Happy Sunday!

With exactly two weeks until Valentine’s Day, I’ve decided to offer a matchmaking service. Inspired by several previous posts with similar ideas, my approach is a little different. Instead of matching people based solely on looks or what applicants think they want, I pair people using a blind-date principle.
By minimizing the variables, more matches can be made. Finding a match isn’t about ticking boxes or avoiding every potential flaw. Everyone gets one red flag they can raise, that's it. This should make matchmaking easier and help more people find matches.

Doesn't work out? No problem, I can always try to find you another match.

I'll do my very best to give as many people as possible the best experience.

FAQ:
>What are the rules for applying?
Be honest in your submission. Unfaithful submissions, such as submitting the form multiple times, will result in complete disqualification.
>How will I be contacted?
I will contact you through email, so make sure to provide a valid email address. You can always arrange for a different method of contact with your match if you so please.
>When will I get a response?
I will try to reply to every serious applicant, even if I haven’t found a match for you yet. You can expect a confirmation within 24 hours of submitting your application.
>Does my location matter?
Yes. Applications without a general location will not be processed. Location is important for making meaningful matches.
>Will you share any information about applicants?
I value transparency. Periodically, I will share anonymised statistics about applicants. Identifiable information will not be shared without your consent.

If you have any other general questions, please post them in the thread. If you want to ask personal questions, you can do so by replying to my email.

Good luck!

There's like five threads for it on the catalog already. What retard thinks he's getting something out of this when it's going to be the million fags that already spam this place and a handful of "females", most of whom will be catfish or trannies?
>>
filled, lets see if i hear back from this one
>>
>>34739097
That's grim but it is the truth.
>>
>>34738975
I like the concept and wish you luck.
Would love to see how it compares to more structured methods in terms of success rate and user experience.
>>
The day before valentines, we should have a community speed date event, that's streamed on something like cytube so we can all watch. Voice or Video is required. Both people talk for a minute (or longer depending on if there aren't many participants) and then press a button to either go next or match. Both people need to press the match button for them to be taken out of the dating pool. People in a discord lobby will have the ability to object to a match and will be immediately queued to talk to the person they want to talk to. The person they want to talk to will either skip or match. If they skip they're matched with their original match

Thank you! I started this exactly because I want to improve the user experience.
I've read many replies in the other threads, giving me a good idea on what can be improved.

One of them is simply the odds. By asking as little information as possible, with as little eliminators as possible, odds increase dramatically.
The other big thing is communication. Going without any response for days or weeks just doesn't inspire confidence.
>>
>>34740572
There are multiple kinds of odds. It's always a SNR question and whose perspective you look at. For example, women generally have to tread through thousands of adds to decide what makes sense for them. Men, on the other hand, have to treat through thousands of deserts to find the one drop of water. The way to address either side is different.
Blind date formats address mostly the source imbalance (so the male side of the issue), but don't address the female side of the issue (huge amount of noise to little signal).
>>
So are the mods going to do something about this retarded shit or what? We don't need dozens of identical copycat threads where guys are trying to farm women's contact information with this retarded gimmick. These threads should be ban on sight they're so fucking stupid
>>
>>34740611
Of course, that's why I decided on some quality factors without enforcing ultra-selection.

I truly believe this format could help. By having an escrow you eliminate that feeling of getting overwhelmed.
>>
>>34740690
Yes, I am looking forward to it as well. I think it's more of a minimalist vs maximalist question. Mostly other approaches so far have been maximalist. If your approach works better, it will not only reduce the workload on people currently working on maximalist approaches (thus improving responsiveness if they were serious so far and it wasn't just a scam), but also bring people together in a safer way than what is currently available out there. Win win.
>>
>>34738975
This is just do gather data and to get contact infos from women nothing more.
>>
>>34740650
>>34740718
I don't intend to farm anyone's contact information. Sadly, there's not much I can do right now to prove that I'm acting in good faith. That's something only time can show.
>>
>>34740798
None of that changes how fucking stupid it is to have one of these threads pop up on an almost daily basis. If this board has a single mod that paid any attention to it they'd nuke all this gay shit.
>>
>>34740712
Less is more. :)
>>
>>34740890
Ultimately these threads, fake or not, are entirely within the domain of /soc/ since their point is primarily meetups.
>>
>>34740650
>We don't need dozens of identical copycat threads where guys are trying to farm women's contact information with this retarded gimmick.
Because every thread in the catalog not spent on cuck, gooning and literal pedo shit is a tragedy, right?
Fucking idiot.
Even if not a single one of these is honest, they're an improvement.
>>
Good morning everyone! These are the statistics for gender and age distribution of just the first day. As more applicants role in, I'm able to disclose more precise statistics without risking deanonymising anyone.
>>
>>34743091
Thanks for the stats, this is really cool.
>>
>>34742658
There's entire open source messengers that fall under the domain of /soc/ but are banned on sight. Are we pretending like moderation on this abandoned board isn't totally arbitrary now?

Can every single thread on the catalog be a matchmaking thread because they all individually fall under the technical rules of /soc/? How many threads before it's decided that it's too many? 8, 12, 30?
>>34742856
>what about these threads that should also be banned
Uh yeah they should also get banned and deleted fucking retard. /soc/ should have been made SFW a decade ago.
>>
>>34743191
Look forward to daily updates. When I get a decent amount of respondents I will release the statistics to date.
>>
Here are the statistics from yesterday. It was quite a slow day with few submissions, so take it with a grain of salt. I suppose nobody likes Mondays.
>>
>>34746168
get me a gf you lazy fuck
>>
Has anyone actually been contacted yet?
>>34746168
Grim stats
>>
>>34747011
It tracks with the claims from every other matchmaker thread. Roughly 10 men to every 1 woman, and the women have rather tight radii they're willing to date in.
>>
>>34747011
>>34747049
It was a very slow day. Percentages might be a bit misleading because we are biased towards larger numbers, but if you translate them over it shows about a 7:1 male/female ratio for the day. Compared to 7:2 for the first day.

Most male correspondents are from North America while most female correspondents are from Europe.
>>
>>34747250
>while most female correspondents are from Europe.
what the hell is happening in euroland to cause the female loneliness crisis
>>
>>34747389
>sample size of a dozen people
>crisis
>>
>>34747401
Just a strange quirk that most of the women are from Europe when the site is mostly browsed by Americans. I'd have assumed that because of that there wouldn't be a differentiation between sexes.
>>
>>34747424
an inordinate amount of posts here are american, and guys, american women dont need to really make posts or seek out people in ways like these, european women do however, theres not that big of a sample of european men here just because its not as popular outside of america, and most of the userbase is male
>>
>>34746168
88+13 is 101 Scam alert. Are you indian?

>>34747443
Despite language barriers, by user statistics, there are about 45% EU users, and 40% US users. EU is just bigger.
American sensationalism is american culture, americans are more outgoing as a result.
European men and women are more introspective by default.
>>
>>34747529
It's just my charting software making funny rounding errors. Lots of rounding up, but no rounding down. And no, I'm not Indian. I'm British, hence why I go silent during those sleeping hours and start answering again in the morning. Not sure if that's any better though.
>>
>>34747640
From my understanding of bong demographics that doesn't technically disqualify you from being Indian.
>>
>>34747650
No, it does not. Maybe my lack of "dear sir/madam" puts you at ease.
>>
It's been over 24 hrs and no confirmation email
>>
>>34748196
Check your spam box, I got the confirmation but it got moved there automatically.
>>
>>34747529
i guess i shouldve specified but i meant specifically this board, and most of the people you see signing up for this stuff are most likely the same people you see making posts every day on threads here, i agree that americans are very much so more outgoing, but states differ, and european countries have a lot more diverse cultures and personalities (purely stereotypes here) in order to bunch them together in my opinion, you could say states are wildly different too but i think most americans behave a certain way

but i dont imagine zeitgeists actually play a big role on the statistics here, 80% of posts here are american guys (number i pulled out of my ass but you get the idea)
>>
>>34748196
I really do send every serious applicant at least a confirmation email. So far I've done my best to honour my commitment. It all happens manually, if there's a really long delay I might just be sleeping.

All emails are sent via an iCloud email address, so while I don't expect my emails to be instantly flagged as spam, they can apparently still end up there.

If it has already been longer than 24 hours and the confirmation hasn't been moved to spam, I'm happy check my outbox to see if I sent you an email. Just the first three symbols of your email address should be enough for me to have a look.
>>
>>34748213
Would you mind telling me what email provider you use? I might have to investigate this, since the email address I'm using otherwise has a 100/100 trust score.

lol
lmao
I'd be lucky to even have someone in the same cluster of countries as me
>>
>>34750162
Thank you, I'm investigating this right now.
>>
>>34749594
I didn't get any confirmation but I got your update email about changing the location question, so I assume my application is still being considered?
>>
>>34751087
If you received the email, you’re in the database. That’s as much as I can say without more information.

You talk like a fed.

Actually, it's a constitutional monarchy and not a federation. So I'm not a fed, I'm an Officer of His Majesty's Secret Intelligence Service.
>>
>>34738975
Have you made any matches so far?
>>
>>34751337
Yes! I finished writing an email for a match just now. Just to be on the safe side, when there might be a match but the details don’t line up exactly, I send an email first to check if it’s alright. I've send out a good few, but waiting for replies makes it a bit sluggish.

It's so over.

Sorry Bong, I'm already in the system and my country tossed your stupid dumb tea in the water so we can become the greatest nation on the planet earth.

Just know these things take time, I've only been doing this since last Sunday. Even formal matchmaking services can take a while.

If you want I can sing you a song to help pass the time.
>>
Today has been extremely slow. Good night everyone, sleep tight.
>>
>>34738975
Submitted an application. Not expecting anything out of it, but was still funny to fill out for the hell of it.
