02/06/26(Fri)05:45:20 No.153279180 so clearly reaves breakout is enough for Luka to be replaceable right?
the thing is, reaves is way better off ball too, i cant believe it, i might become a reaves fan, nothing more i love than capable offball hybrid players. i dont think reaves is "great" off ball or anything, but hes a step above almost every ball dominant player averaging more than 25ppg not named curry
this was very very clearly a lucky streaky game, but even if he didnt shoot 70% from the field and 60% from 3, what he showed me with his offball game is enough upside for me to consider him an impact player, and maybe consider that those first games in the beginning of the season he played without Luka and was winning, maybe werent flukes. Maybe he doesnt have the cieling that Luka has, but that doesnt actually matter. Hali didnt have that cieling and took his team to a conference finals twice in less time than Luka, and a game 7 finals.
People need to start realizing, you dont actually need to be the "best, most skilled, most capable" player. You just need to be enough of a positive to help your teammates, and as little as a negative.
Interesting, an anon told me to keep an eye on Luka some weeks or a month ago.

Nearly every all time great has played for the Lakers. If you want to be the greatest you have to do it in a Lakers jersey and win big. Winning 5 MVPs on a dog shit team like the Nuggets is the ARod Texas Rangers type of MVPs. Most Lakers fans have no respect for LeBum for obvious reasons

hm, they've barely played together, and when they do, reaves typically stinks, i dont believe luka actually makes teammates better, but we'll see about that
>>153279116
Ive said this all the time from the get go. Its donovan mitchells problem too, but Dmitch has an infinitely better team to hide that fact.
its funny, I was about to say "Dmitch is a more willing passer" but Maxey had 12 assists, and there are a lot of retards that think lots of assists mean youre a good passer, because they dont actually go and watch how the assists come by
Mitchells teammates run around and look for gaps in spaces. Maxeys teammates will legit just stand around on the perimeter or park in the paint as he ISOs, and clear the paint as soon as he gets near.
So I dont blame Maxey as much, because even if he were less hero ball, he doesnt have the teammates and system to encourage that.

Reaves has been my favorite Laker for years. You’re absolutely correct about his off-ball stuff. His IQ is insane. He knows how to play off of Bron perfectly, picks and chooses his times to take over kind of like Luka except AR has a change of pace that is more Shai-like.
Pisses me off even more that Rich Paul would try and trade him for JJJ

Still a glaring issue in the front court. I'm not sure who they could even get this off season. Wouldn't of hated a swing for Vuc, I think Rui and Hayes would have made it work $ wise. Yeah he's a meh defender but an actual post threat would be a welcome addition. Too much outside chucking since no one respects any C or PF on LA's roster. I want to see Luka play with an actual skilled front court player just once.

02/06/26(Fri)09:34:03 No.153280104 wow looks like luka got injured, left the court with a +- of -10 and the lakers in a hole, but once he was gone the lakers dug themselves out of the hole and made a comeback and won the game easliy
the problem is for the lakers that while it was a timely injury you just can't guarantee he's going to get injured in the playoffs too and the trade deadline is already over

Austin Reeves went bananas in the 4th quarter. Not just from three either, I saw him out there D’ing up Joel. That was a sad way to snap a five game winning streak tho, Luka left the game early and LeBron is washed so it should have been an easy win. Austin Reeves decided to go out and change fate instead.
LeBron really is washed too. He looked so slow out there. He practically had his head bic shaved too, he almost looked like he’s finally giving up on trying to make those horrible hair plugs work and just embracing baldness. It’s crazy to watch him nowadays remembering how fast he played when we were kids.

Yeah I was a bit puzzled by the trade as well, Turner was about as good a defender but could step out and shoot 3's at least. Zubac has only attempted 12 threes in his career and 0 threes the last 3 years so it isn't like he's going to all of the sudden at it to his game.

Mathurin was always going to get traded. There is no real room for him with Haliburton, Nembhard and Nesmith in the back court. He was a 4th overall pick, so he clearly wants a starting role somewhere, but that was just not going to happen on the Pacers. The Pacers are a run and gun team and that requires good passing around the perimeter, something that Mathurin is not good at. He is a ball stopper/iso player. LA fans love that kind of ball after watching guys like Kobe, LeBron, Kawhi and Harden for decades.

Yea, the depth of last year's Pacers team is why they were one game (and a torn achilles) away from winning their first championship. They could just run teams into the ground by having a seemingly endless bench. But it wasn't feasible to keep them all together. Turner was/is a terrible rebounder, and Zubac is a massive improvement in that regard. I don't think Pacers will ever win a title. We had our shot after MJ retired and we had our shot last year. We will make a few solid playoff runs, maybe a couple ECF appearances, but last year was THE window.

No, the weight gain is a good thing. I've been saying for 3 years that he needs to add weight so he stops getting bullied on defense. As long as he keeps his ball handling, play making abilities and 3 point shot, the weight gain should only help his overall game, and help him stop getting injured so much.

Who bully's Hali on defense? He's a solid defender, he's never hunted on D which is all you can ask for from an offensive hub. There is also no correlation between weight and injuries. Tatum and Lillard are built and both suffered the same achilles injury Hali did.

Despite the criticism, Simmons is a two-way superstar. His mulish refusal to be bullied into taking garbage shots is a strength, not a vulnerability. While other players rebel against efficiency-based trends, he icily dumps data into shot-chart spreadsheets with stylized keystrokes: transition dunk, 3-point assist, straight line driving dunk, 3-point assist, dunk off a lob, 3-point assist. He has a handful of tricks that weaponize defenders’ instincts to sink into the lane, such as swerving into dribble-handoffs that free up shooters with ribcage-crunching screens. Before being sidelined with a back injury during the 2020 season, Simmons led the NBA in assists on 3-point baskets, was tenth among qualified leaders, and finished fifth in points created off assists per game. Even with his idiosyncrasies, he is the rare player who can sculpt a game to fit his own economy.
On the other side of the ball, Simmons’s defense is unholy. His size, discipline, and nimble feet make him a terrible date for volume-scoring wings: they can’t shoot over him, can’t cook him off the dribble, and can’t turn the corner to shoulder-shim their way to the rack. He is not spidery enough to block many shots, but ranks among the leaders in disruptive stats like steals, deflections, and loose balls recovered thanks to a motor that can go from purring to roaring in a blink. Measurements of defensive versatility annually place Simmons at the top of the NBA, and his assignments range from chasing gnats like Trae Young to manning the pivot as a small-ball center.
Over the last twenty-five years, NBA superstardom has been defined by scorers. Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant. Men who yearned for the final shot and vicariously fulfilled the fantasies of every kid who whispered down the final seconds of an imaginary clock on the playground or family driveway. From that perspective, Simmons’s paradigm-shifting excellence is as unrecognizable as an iceberg veiled by fog.
