Have to say I've not been feeling very bothered about the start of season. The Ashes was a lot and then the meme20 came on top and I switched off, was feeling over-saturated with cricket and Englands cricket clown show. Then its felt very slow for Essex this off-season, it usually is, but it came on the back of what was a fairly disappointing season for Essex: crap in the white ball and a frustrating championship. I don't expect much for the champ. this year, Essex does have a strong side so should not be looking at relegation but it depends on absences and getting to firing on all cylinders again. Naturally the club will be focusing mostly on the white ball, but not convinced they'll really challenge their unless they've made a big improvement.
>>
I've said it several years in a row now but; wouldn't it be interesting if they could organise a match between the County Champion and the Sheffield Shield Winner like they have the World Club Challenge in the Rugby League.
I thought that in previous years matches between WA and Surrey would be close, especially if played in England. But I reckon SA would roll over Notts rather embarrassingly easily.

>>
>>154100963
Agreed, would be a nice spectacle, and increase interest in the county game a bit more
Could do the same thing for the white ball comps too, maybe some short of short international T20 comp that pits the winners of the main domestic tournos against each other
>>
>>
>>
Interesting to see Dan Lategan get the start for the Pears this season
Very highly rated prospect, I expect him to have a good season (although he might be more of a white-ball player, not sure)
At £4.5m in the fantasy cricket league, he's surely an absolute must-have

Haines looked good for Sussex last season and did good for the Lions, hopefully Fatty Key and McCum aren't lying and there is actually a hope for him or someone to replace Zakky C.
Already scored 2 4s off a couple of pies in his first over.
>>
>>
>>
Not really a fan of >us signing Olly Hannon-Dalby on an emergency 14-day loan because of the Swanepoel situation
Means the likes of Finch, Gibbon, Home, and Darley all don't get a look in
Yes, OHD is probably better than them, but the whole point of having a squad is that if one of the first XI misses out you've gotta give a chance to a younger lad
>>154101158
Emergency signing from Warwickshire, unfortunately they're very sickly in that neck of the woods. No green and pleasant land near Birmingham
>>
>>
>>154101172
It's only for two weeks, he'll probably still play for them at some point this season. But he's fallen behind the likes of Bamber and Gilchrist in their pecking order, so they've loaned him to us to keep him match fit for a couple of games. Don't like the system at all, myself, but hopefully he'll contribute
>>154101186
Seeing as we're all watching for free with adblockers installed I guess that's still a £50 loss desu
>>
>>
>>154101197
Honestly don't know why they signed Gilchrist or why he was on the Lions, didn't look anything special for Kent and Kent have had a dogshit fast-bowling line up for a few years, especially when like last season they lost both their overseas in the championship.
Yadvinder is absolutely shitting all over the bed btw the atm against Sussex, no wonder Worcs got rid of him. already 22 off 2 overs.
>>
>>
>>
>>154101230
I guess they see him as a decent long-term prospect seeing as he's 25 and has a respectable average (32), but you'd have thought OHD would be ahead in the lineup
Hadn't seen that Yadvinger had been picked up by Leicestershire, that's interesting, assumed he'd just go back to the Birmingham league. He looked ok as a fill-in option (which is all he was, he was one of a few players we picked up as emergency signings when 3/4 of our bowlers were crocked) but a little out of his depth. Interesting that he's getting another chance, and in Div 1 too. Don't expect it to go well, but you never know
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>154101267
Probably the best up and coming opener, if they continue to ignore the likes of Sibley and Hameed
McKinney at Durham another option who I think they like the look of, but Haines has been more impressive in his career so far
>>154101306
Unfortunately most Hindus lack the mental strength to succeed in England
They just don't have the stones for it
>>154101322
He clearly has lots of talent, but has never proved that he's got the grit or staying power for the red ball game
I'd make the same argument about Bethell, although he did demonstrate it to an extent with his ton in the Ashes
>>
>>
>>
>>154101350
Yeah potentially he has so much natural talent that it was the right decision to parachute him straight into the Test XI despite not having much experience in first-class cricket
Suppose that worked for the likes of Tendulkar, in the past, so it's not always a bad call

Charlie Allison looks very good, had a good season last year as an opener although got moved around but has come out looking very strong as a middle order batsmen, like a slightly less reckless Harry Brook. Has been an important partnership with Critchley.

>kiwijeet again resorts to reposting AI slop he’s already overused in ad hominem attacks
so you don’t like cricket, don’t consider anything “real” (you’re just being disingenuous) , don’t want to talk about cricket, spend your whole time moaning about other anons on here … why are you even here?

Post skin colour
at the end of the day I’m one of those posters who comes to post about cricket whilst you don’t, pretty sad when you consider this is supposed to be a cricket general.

Not sure it’d be “miraculous”, they’ve a first inning lead and now have pushed up to 187 in the second innings. There’s a fair amount in that pitch from watching the highlights, especially for the spinners (best figures for each side are Crane and Bess). If Glamorgan can put up a bit of a lead and then put Yorkshire into bat at lunch they could win, but they could easily just make it a draw as well; either way Glammy is in charge really, only way they are losing is if the batting collapses in the first session.

He's one of the weaker players desu but seeing as he's club captain and has the whole family connection with the club I don't think he'll retire any time soon

Yeah rescued by Brookes and Waite yet again, familiar story from last season
Bowling obviously wasn't anywhere near good enough, although looked like the pitch wasn't offering too much for the bowlers (only reason our batspeople managed to survive)
