They updated the OT rule on defensive penalties. Subsequent defensive fouls don't result in an automatic good try anymore, it escalates to half the previous distance. So instead of the 1, it goes to the 1/2. Then 1/4. Etc. No change to the offensive side, if you commit a foul on offense it will result in a loss of down, period. I'm sure nobody will scream about this in the future.

I will scream because I think the original rule didn't need much tweaking.

Honestly it gets ridiculous after the 1/2 yard mark. Should have just changed it to "If 2 consecutive defensive penalties, automatic good try." I think everyone would be fine with that.

No it wasn't, it was "2 penalties in the OT period". What I'm saying is the holding called on Louisville that ended the game should have moved to the 1 yard line, despite the fact that they had a penalty on an earlier try, and THEN if they commit another penalty the try is good. Also have the refs announce after the first penalty "You do this shit again and they're getting the points".

Work visa issues the UFL didn't think about, because they just assume Canadians want to play in the CFL. Which makes sense; skill position players are paid better than the UFL salary, the season is longer, and there's a bigger chance to be a star in your home market (which naturally results in endorsements and minor celebrity status). There's really no reason a Canadian born player would ever want to go to the UFL.
My dad went on a rant about how this is all because of orangemanbad and muh government workers being fired but it's really due to UFL's structure.
Camp is too close to the season starting.
If you're a foreigner and a team likes you and signs you, or wants to sign you, the season starts like a week later so for any non-US citizen, that turnaround is too quick to get a US work visa. At least with the NFL, things are a little more spaced out.
Elgersma impulsively tried out for the UFL without having this sorted. Or this was completely intentional and he used camp as a way to prepare for the CFL lel.

Wasn't in the states long enough. Could have been a matter of only applying for a short term one.
Maybe this was indeed a way to just get more reps and then get his name in the news cycle. Every article is essentially "potentially very good canadian QB without a home." Notice how quickly WPG signed him.

All sports are suffering right now. Tony Stewart just won an NHRA Top Fuel race with 500 people in the stands.
Sports are a better experience on TV at home, and you spend less money at home. It turns out that jewing people for tickets, parking, and concession has consequences.
