Welcome back San Antonio

Just got home what a shitshow but it was fun and luckily avoided rain. Im happy i got to finally got to watch a game in person and what a spaghetti fest it was. It was as i thought the best seats i have ever had for a football game. Beer was limited to 25oz cans of budlight for $14. The scoreboard is complete ass it doesn't even have an indicator for timeouts remaining. The downtime for refball is terrible and we had no idea what was going on. There was a play where play stopped for over 2 minutes where refs were having a conference before even anouncing the play was under review and after another 2 minutes what i thought was being reviewed (potential interception but dual possession) ended up being something completely different. The audio for the halftime show was complete ass which is surprising because the stadium literally is made for concerts with a stage built in. I wanted to take a smoke break for halftime but they dont have a smoking area which made leaving at the start of the 4th an easy decision. Fun crowd i even started at give us sayin chant but ginn ignored it. Honestly even after getting bootyblasted the team seems decent minus the qb he has to go asap if they want this team to stay in columbus

Fake leaker (that may not be fake) dropping in again.

The league exists in a void where it just barely justifies itself. TV ratings are comparable to Nascar trucks or Xfinity. Not enough to kill it, but not successful. It is literally borderline, game to game lol.

Mike Repole is cool and the sentiment overall is that we wish he was involved from the very start of this whole spring football wave. It's not that he's got some magic plan, he's just normal and reasonable. Also open to any idea so long as you make a good argument. I don't fear going into work.

We're facing an uphill battle because we just can't get people to care or get asses in the seats. Football fans aren't stupid, they know it's a reject league with no stars and teams move or leagues fold every 1.5 seasons. Austin Reed is promising but we've learned our lesson (officially) from shilling Luis Perez that you can't just fabricate a star.

There are three ideas on the drawing board.
>21 point mercy rule. Game would automatically end and the winning team gets an extra point in the standings.
>Celebrity coaches. We won't get Mr Beast but imagine Mr Beast calling offensive plays for a half and you can watch a special coach's feed on YouTube.
>Sponsor teams. The teams with decent attendance stay, the rest are road-only teams sponsored by brands.

Mercy rule will probably get rolled out for Week 6 (halfway point of the season as a surprise rule change for the playoff race). If you don't see it, it's because TV executives are fearful.

There was shall we say tangible asspain that none of the games so far have been particularly good and coaches are more than happy to play ticky tacky time of possession strategy. This is not compelling TV. Nobody wants to watch the Columbus whatevers exchange field goals with the Louisville something's.

They want eight Austin Reed's, ideally, but only one of those exists so you artificially create more of them by saying "game ends at a 21 point lead" which suddenly impacts playcalling and could therefore manifest more Austin Reeds. I get the idea at least.

There's also the desire to limit injuries that happen during garbage time. Everyone is trying to make it to the NFL but already more than a few careers have ended with random injuries during meaningless 3rd or 4th quarters where the game was already decided.

Can't get injured during garbage time if there's no garbage time.

Like the anon said in the thread, that bullshit rule should only really apply if it was a consecutive penalty on the same try. That shouldn't end the whole OT. Also imagine if that was someone's first UFL game which, considering both the Storm and the Kings are brand new teams, that's very likely to be the case. Imagine ending on that shit. Imagine how the league looks with that and how you may have lost a potential, highly invested watcher of the UFL with that. Sure he may be coming back for the occasional home game, but he for damn sure isn't going to be watching other UFL games after a finish like that.

I know I'm blowing it out of proportion and it's not actually that serious, but goodness what an anticlimactic finish and a not great impression. Something about that OT rule has to be tweaked.
