I have a pack called 'The Ultimate Finnish Language Learning Pack (2013)' sitting in my hard drive.
I lost the original torrent file though so I had to make a new one. Did try searching for that original distro but it was the least of efforts. So if anyone happen to have the original torrent / magnet link please share.

Does anyone else feel like the native speakers of Pimsleur speak too fast?
I understand that you need to get used to fast speaking, and it helps the lessons go faster, but when trying to replicate a pronunciation, the slower the better.
I'm always tripping over my tongue trying to speak as fast as the native speakers, and it makes it hard to get the accent right.
I've done some of their French and Korean lessons and both have the same problem.
I'm going to start listening at 75% speed to see if it helps.

Bopomofo is an alphabet for the phonology of Mandarin. You can learn that quite quickly if you can accurately hear the phonology, e.g. distinguishing zhe and zhi. I'm fluent in TW Mandarin, which is just the standard Mandarin used in TW, which has just slightly different pronunciation, has a few words and some colloquial grammatical structures that are different from the standard CN Mandarin. I advise you to type and in general romanize Mandarin via pinyin and not bopomofo. I type faster than native speakers that way, all while using traditional characters.

There are a few TW Mandarin channels on youtube, those are better resources than most of the ones you will find here. Ask anyone here if they've learned a language through these resources and tell me if you get one yes. They're just data horders. I will give you better sauce.

If you want to learn the TW Mandarin variation you probably have some connection to TW, so channel that connection, avoid mainland CN resources. If you're a complete beginner, I recommend:
>getting a TW Mandarin teacher, to whom you will emphasize that you want nothing to do with mainland Mandarin (Mandarin teachers in TW are usually trained to teach mainland Mandarin)
>avoid learning grammar or tones (you will acquire them intuitively, cause everything you memorize or learn via the intellect/rationally will not make sense from an Indo-European mindset, TRUST ME). If your teacher can't transcend the compulsion to teach grammar, look for a new one
>first memorize radicals, then learn characters via flashcards in a way where you write them on your phone, not type them. Traditional characters are easier to learn because characters are learned via muscle memory, not visually
>talk to people on tandem or irl a lot, and find language partners
>don't fear embarrassment
>look into Chris Lonsdale
>consume and memorize media (the parts you like most)

I found out that the most efficient way to learn a language is to mimic how kids learn their native language. Since that's how we're wired to learn - why not use the most efficient method - by listening.

What I came up with - is to cut a bunch of audio clips from Movies and TV series and listen to them repeatedly with AnkiDroid.
