My goblinoids are one single eusocial species. Goblins are juvenile females, kept in a perpetual childhood, most never become adults. They are the laborers, the "worker caste". Hobgoblins are juvenile males, the soldier caste, but they will eventually age out of their prolonged adolescence and become Bugbears. Bugbears are the adult males, analogous to the drones of a beehive. One Goblin begins to metamorphose into a Queen upon the death of the former Queen, and she is compelled to flee from the warren soon after she becomes fully mature, and is pursued by Bugbears, who she will test in their pursuit of her, against each other or against any hazards she can set against them. Many worthy bugbears will mate with her during this flight, until eventually she will return to the warren to begin her pregnancy. She swells to enormous size, ruptures to unleash hundreds of baby goblins, then dies.
