What are the best black guy haircuts for fantasy settings? I always see them with dreadlocks.

No it doesn't, black people in real life have essentially the same haircuts now that they've had since we first discovered them. That means that in 95% of settings prototypical black people haircuts will be appropriate and his question is legitimate. He even specified "fantasy". As if a black guy haircut in LOTR is going to be different than a black guy haircut in D&D just because of the setting change. Sheesh.

In one of my fantasy settings, a civilian alchemist developed a special ointment that could be worked into the hair of the darker-skinned nations. This would loosen their naturally tight curls and grant them a more wavy, wet look. It became wildly popular among those who could afford the time and expense of the treatments. To this day, many nobles and princes bear the curls of Master Jhe'ri

There are lots of truly wacky and ornate hairstyles documented from African tribes during the advent of photography, before the "black" identity became homogenised and with it, the culturally preferred hairstyles. These days, only a few tribes still use distinctive traditional styles, like the Himba. However, much the same was true for Europeans, with forelocks and tonsures and Polish plaits and a host of other styles that are very rare today but ordinary in an appropriately medieval setting, so do make sure you're consistent.

And bald if you count that as a hairstyle.
Especially on the women I find that hot.

Some black person preached about this in a video I saw, with a hair type that can do afros, you can use any shape you feel like instead of ones designed for straight hair. Go nuts, especially since its fantasy.
Bald, short afro, and big afro are all really cool more traditional aesthetics though.

I missed out on the old /tg/ days where this was a more active meme.
At least I was able to give a bitch to daddy Doom on the thread made in memory of James Earl Jones. He had an amazing voice.

"身體髮膚,受之父母,不敢毀傷,孝之始也" - Kong Zi
Or, in English, "Our bodies, hair, and skin are given to us by our parents; we dare not damage them, this is the beginning of filial piety."
Thus, tattoos and cutting your hair is a big no-no in Confucian society.
