od 1 was ass but at least i can give it props for being something different and od 2 was decent having had to carry over the mess of od1. Once they got to willdress and beyond its felt derivative. It couldn't be helped as they fired some of the overdress staff and reoriented the anime to being a traditional TCG anime again. Sure some things were new for Vanguard but never really felt innovative as other TCG anime had done them. And Bushi just keeps rehashing a lot of the same themes from past series like "Vanguard is actually fun" and exploring it through character's trauma except for the fact we already have a lot of characters from past series with similar arcs so most of these new characters don't feel fresh. And all of the foreshadowing for the serious plot feels half baked like they just kept adding stuff as they went on. Like a lot of divinez s2 and PC. Or they wasted time on fluff like deluxe when they know they have clearly limited episode counts. I think they've run out of ideas and this potential year and a half off bc of the remaster should be good to get some new ideas in the room.

Wait, is there another season after this? Feels like it.

DivineZ arguably suffers from Akina being benched too much and too little depending on the season. He's the biggest victim of the 12 episode format because you can't develop the MC, handle all the side characters and do all of their fights in that short a span.
If we're doing 12 episode seasons from now on, the show needs to be more like Shinemon where the entire plot revolves around the MC and their actions with the side characters feeding into that.

Deluxe arc simply did irrepairable damage by putting his shit into a normal torunament when he had no stakes but everyone else did. Even Megumi had more of a reason to win than his ass and she was basically just wanting to do Blackout proud.

I wonder if DivineZ will truly end tomorrow. On one hand this season feels anticlimactic and it has been mostly terrible. But on the other hand would another season do anything to salvage this one? Feels like they've resolved pretty much whatever they tried to set up. Another season forcing some new conflict loosely connected to whatever they could potentially set up in this last episode could just make things worse since they have no idea what they want to do. I guess it'll be interesting to see if they have any last tricks up their sleeve.

I don't see why they would announce a final season and then announce a brand new series on top of that. You do that after the end of the series. Plus if this was another 12 episode season it would start in July like it always does. Why would they even consider a theatrical screening when they've never done anything like that besides Neon Messiah which was an actual movie. They're going to do the remaster rerun until 2027 like we all thought and start the new series after that. There's barely any plot left so they can shoehorn the 3 or 4 episodes worth of it into a movie.

I also hope it's another cour, but I don't even know if what's left has enough "plot" for 12 episodes.
We have 3 main characters left, 4 if you wanna include Megumeme and one very clear final boss.
The entire side cast has already been used as one off enemies in the manga and anime.

I think what's more likely is it's 4 or 5 episodes worth of content they'll first show as a movie and then air at a later date. There's just not enough to justify another season without repeating the same shit over again which would just make things even worse.
