Question: If I cast an Adventure spell from my command zone, can I send it back to the command zone instead of exiling it?

I looked this up to confirm and not only is it true, but the creature portion doesn't get command tax applied when you cast it from exile. Makes sense but still weird.

after your commander gets moved from any other zone to your graveyard or face-up exile, on the first SBA you may chose to move it to the command zone. if your commander would be moved from a public zone (battlefield, graveyard, face-up exile) to your hand or library, you may -as a replacement effect- move it to your command zone instead.
'commander tax' is an additional cost applied to casting your commander from the command zone only. you don't pay 'commander tax' if you cast it from your hand or from any other zone or source of 'you may cast that card'. exile isn't the command zone, they're separate game zones.

as america shifts back towards being majority rightist (just look at opinion polls of gen z), attraction is going to swing back in favor of boobs. multiple people (read: online schizophrenics) on both sides have observed this before, leftists like butts, rightists like boobs.
my personal schizophrenic theory is that this is because rightism is inherently k-selective and leftism is inherently r-selective.

>How we feeling about prepared, paradigm, etc from Strixhaven?
Prepared is going to be a godsend in any deck that needs a spell to kickstart an engine. I know I will be putting a couple into my Neera deck. Too many times I've had pay-off on board but not had spells in hand to cast, in various decks.
Paradigm isn't going to happen as much as people think outside of decks with heavy cost reduction, but it's going to be annoying as fuck when it does happen.
They're mostly around the 5-8 mana mark iirc and there's definitely better things to be doing at that stage of the game than waiting around until your next upkeep, but it'll happen.
I've always strongly opposed effects that can't be interacted with, and this is pushing dangerously close to that. It is cast and it's still a spell so counterspells and protection will work, but it's annoying that it is being cast from exile meaning there's no way to turn it off permanently. I don't see what was wrong with letting it re-cast itself from grave instead, then graveyard removal could turn it off.

The only tangible difference is that if you put a hard line on comboing out (like say you can only infinite t5+, otherwise you might as well just combo out asap and do away with the pretension)

4 is still just playing junk, though junk with a bunch of powerful bullshit in it.
Most commanders, with the right cards can play enjoyable games at bracket 4. Might not win, might not go off super fast, but possible.
its also still a bit more chill.
CEDH is just, you are going to sweat and you know everyone is going to sweat and you need to know your lines, and see the other commanders and know their lines and play on meta rather than "yeah, I just like tutors and these dumb gorgons, so we're gonna see what's up."
The games are "fast" at least in amount of turn, and you need to have a way to deal with shit on turn 1 before you've even gotten your first turn.

the difference is largely 'printing counterfeits/proxies of mox's etc' vs just regular cards. Many of the staples such as cyc rift, orcish bowmasters aren't really all that rare, just demand caused their prices to spike. Not hard to get a hold of. There's a price barrier for cedh with mox diamonds and the complete absence of creativity. force of will is in about 65%~? of all decks. I can make a bracket 4 deck with no game changers that pops off, but has no chance against cedh decks that run instant win combos and value engines for a turn 2 or turn 3 win. Plus, many decks such as etali suck against normal decks because the shared pool of cards aren't as high impact. You can't expect to steal huge value hits consistently from them.
>>
>>97865938
Bringing Sisters of Stone Death to the average bracket 4 table is just starting the game with one less card, NOBODY plays silly shit like that in B4. It's all value engines, combos and fast mana in my experience.

>compare stax to simic, the latter being a real archetype
>>
>>97866020
It was a pretty far out example, but you can fill it with the most broken cards in green and black and it could still compete, I assure you.
Not like making infinite mana is very difficult.
>>
>>
>>97866030
>logical conclusion
You can run infinites, and other silly shit in bracket 4, such as MLD. It doesn't have to be 'WELL, THE BRACKET GUIDELINES HAVE NO RESTRICTIONS ON TURN 4 INFINITES SO OBVIOUSLY THE CONCLUSION IS THAT EVERYONE SHOULD PLAY META DECKS AND COMBO OUT ON TURN 4'.
https://archidekt.com/decks/17493977/azula_boronko
This deck can win on turn 4 if I added a tutor and added jeska's will back. It is not in anyway cedh. I legitimately struggle to understand why you people keep trying to make decks that clearly don't fit into a given bracket by trying to make them 'competitive'.

>>

i never claimed to be talking about cedh. i never claimed anything about being "sweaty". i never claimed anything about stax even. all i said is that the power level of my decks are not determined by the turn they "win" on because a lot of my focus is on preventing people from winning which pushes the game into much later turns.
>inb4 "what do you mean you never said anything about stax? you said you prevent people from winning!"
not all control decks are stax decks, retard. also, i don't play with cedh shitters because they don't have a thought of originality in their heads. the vast majority are netdecking retards who only know "their lines" and will actually fold against lesser decks if they don't win in the first few turns because they don't actually understand the game and "their lines" become less clear as the turns pass.
>>
>>97866094
>all i said is that the power level of my decks are not determined by the turn they "win"
That is totally a (You) issue that you dont want to face reality but the ability to consistently win asap is in fact a determiner of a deck's power level, otherwise rogsi wouldnt be facing a 3v1 all the time
>frothing at the mouth over originality
>while being in the bracket that gives you all the GCs you want
B2 has more originality than you, or at the very least has more restraint lmao enjoy playing all your broken cards suboptimally

Both seems fun and don't have awkward mechanics that make it so even if they never see the light of day again, they can still fit into lots of different decks without issue. Just have to be careful with how easipy prepared can happen because that one that makes pests feels pretty free.
Also, where is that teya art from? I was looking for art for a proxy a while back, looking through scryfall using the teysa tag, but I never saw that one.

The more you pivot to a good deck by including blood artist etc the further you go from your original plan, barring maskwood nexus and such
However one should not shy away from jank, so try it for sure

paradigm is such a edh coded mechanic that it becomes kinda lame. You can't stack it or copy it which makes it kinda ass in constructed. cool in draft. *Personally* I'd be fine with someone doing that below b4 since you
>Need two cards + your commander + at least one other creature
to
>basically win via craterhoof etb
It's extremely interactable, so I'd be fine with it. In practice I assume you're actually going to be running other 'when a card leaves your graveyard' effects and maybe even storm payoffs, which can make it harder to deal with, but there are several spots where people can see what you're doing and interact to stop it.
I'm not everyone though, and some people might be mad just because you're using an expensive card like LED at all.
anyway you can also get infinite ETB/LTB/LGYs with Diamond Lion with the addition of a haste source (easy) and a cost reducer for artifacts/creatures (harder) or an ability cost reducer (literally just Heartstone and Zirda). on second thought don't bother.
>>
>>
>>

The way I have it figured
>LED+Salavgers to make infinite mana
>Now with the mana I cast the prepare spell over and over (Looping LED to reprepare) milling my deck, giving creatures haste (Anger gets milled) and trample and counters
>Win with combat
or alterntivily
>Winning with some random flashback spell of I can't combat
I've thrown together a rough deck and now I am just cutting, adding draw and more self graveyard interaction. I've ended up sorta going a Voltron route with equipment as well, but will likely end up cutting all the equips except for sword of light and shadow.
>>
>>
>>
Man, how do people enjoy running 4+ mana commanders? Well, unless the commander is just some value engine.
>3-5 turns to cast your commander and actually play the game
>immediately gets removed
>now you sit there like an idiot and are basically out of the game
>>
>>97867099
You build so you can recast or run protection and interaction. It's not really that hard.
Alternatively, you already were waiting 3 turns to cast your commander, you set up an additional turn so when they come down you've got the shot.
Haste is your friend.
>>
>>
>>97865946
Yeah, as I say it’s only close to not being interactable. I would really rather not see Vexing Bauble become a staple at more casual tables though. If it just copied itself in the grave it would already be much easier to get rid of
>>
>>
>>
>>97867099
You need to be running more ramp budski.
I think my Neera deck has like 12 mana rocks just because she costs 6 to cast.
I have a Rankle & Torbran with a treasure sub theme because it’s 5CMC and a lightning rod for removal due to constantly forcing opponents to sac their creatures
I would say in both decks I’m only “out of the game” the 3rd time either of them get removed

I remember spending new years eve for a brief moment there about a decade ago. we were sitting around this tiny kitchen table trying to not die of boredom, putting various songs on their speakers from our phones in an attempt to lighten the mood. >The games are "fast" at least in amount of turn
but not as fast as people make it out to be. games reaching t6 is pretty normal when everyone knows how to play and what to interact with. in terms of time, 2+ hour single games at cedh tournaments happen all the time.

Something has happened to this general. We used go have good discussions, but the past year most of my posts float on by without a single reply unless its obvious bait. I must be getting too old for this place. Weird.
>>
Is it too ambitious to try weave landfall and lifelink together in a Tayam, Luminous Enigma deck? (which is inherently a counters-matter deck as well)
The landfall seems to be a very solid inclusion, because if there's a sacland in the graveyard, Tayam can create two landfall triggers for 3 mana and 3 counters as many times as needed. There's plenty of overlap between land and counters too.
There's also a big overlap between lifegain and reanimation, but I've had trouble finding good ways to make the lifegain mesh with counters or landfall.
Betor, Ancestor's Voice is in counters and lifegain and revives, but the revives care about life loss rather than life gain.
Shelinda, Yevon Acolyte is a great source of counters that happens to have lifelink, but no lifegain payoffs.
>>
>>
>>
>>97867570
Oh right, I forgot Summon: Ixion which is another counters+lifegain card (in second and third act), but that card was an easy include anyway because of how disgustingly powerful the first act becomes when Tayam can cause it to repeat indefinitely.

youre right channel should stay banned as should any cards that help green more than the ultra-handicap they're already given by GōtC.
Demonic Tutor is a very fair card and is baseline power level for a black magic card.
Ancestral Recall is strong but should be reprinted and legal in commander just like Timetwister is (banning it unfairly nerfs blue). Or maybe an updated version called "Based Ancestors" 1U: Target player draws 2 cards at their next upkeep, and no forests can be played until that upkeep"

they will literally be selling a Harry Potter Magic set in 2027 or 2028. Whenever tells Hasbro to jump, they will jump. Right now a sports card maker is making a collectable card series for HP; next year it will be an actual TCG product for MTG. (and thats a good thing!)

Normies love Harry Potter. Hogwarts legacy made billions of dollars. It's a tiny minority of troons and bluesky users who whine about it on reddit. They don't represent reality. The hope is that several high level wotc employees resign in protest. UB Harry Potter will be the biggest selling set of all time no matter how much reddit complains.
>>
>>97868024
Naruto is far more likely than DB as their pick for an anime crossover. Dragon Ball's card designs aren't clear since you'd need to give everything flying and crazy power to please the audience that wants it. Naruto's setting already uses what's basically mana and has hundreds of easy slam dunk flavor designs that work in magic without a problem. DB is more popular but if that was all that mattered they would have picked it already over stuff like Who and Turtles.
>>
>>
>>
>>97868026
>amount of damage it would do to the game
>thinks literally broke troons fund this 30+ year card game
I know you can't ACK-nowledge that you will never be a woman but the small minority of troons, faggots and other left-leaning people they've been catering to since 2020 do not carry the sales of the game
Harry Potter will be the best sales they've had since Final Fantasy or LOTR, since the franchise is beloved.
GōtC keeps thinking parents will buy their young children Spiderman and TMNT sets and they don't, but HP sets would sell for younger kids.
Similarly, troon groomers who can't accept JK Rowling speaking the truth don't have/arent allowed around children. Groomers of the coast actively wants 30-40+ adults to be buying sets for their young children, thats one of their core markets.
If all homos and tranny's left MTG tomorrow, the game would immediately start doing better and selling better, so if a Hogwarts set caused those "people" to leave, it would be the greatest boon to MTG since Final Fantasy.
>>
>>97868054
Normies dont buy a case of booster boxes for a game they'll never play.
Wotc sends out polls all the time to dedicated players. They ask for oppinions on UB sloppa. Its how we knew about shit like monhun way before it came out, and why I can tell you for certain Power Rangers is coming next year. Harry Potter was on like, 2 surveys and then was never seen again, so likely they got a massively negative response so it is shelved.
Also read another book etc etc
>>
>>97868072
After monster hunter got buttfucked, Shueisha won't let WotC near any of their IPs.
Demon Slayer and JJK would make good UBs, but again, Shueisha won't allow it. Maybe wotc can get Fairy Tale or something lol
>>

>>

>Harry Potter was on like, 2 surveys and then was never seen again, so likely they got a massively negative response so it is shelved.
Keep dreaming, sister. Hasbro will force it by mandate and no, it won't kill the game. At best it will drive away some of the troon and rainbow hair demographic wotc has been courting, but that's a good thing. And even then many troons and wokes still love Harry Potter. They had no problem buying and playing Hogwarts Legacy and invented cope reasons in their head to justify it. JK is based and owns their souls.
>>
>>97868093
Not to mention them making TMNT in the first place. MaRo and crew are boomers and several years behind knowing what the players population actually wants. They also care too much about appeasing the tiny vocal reddit woke community.

>>
>>97868110
>Im just telling you what happened, if reality hurts your feelings that's OK. Hope you enjoy black snape.
They took it off the survey because results overwhelmingly said yes- hence them making Strixhaven 2. Chuds and wokes are uniting in their hatred of black Snape. Personally, I assume he's the best actor ever, and think it's funny how much universal rage his casting has caused. Personally I like the movies but I feel no need to watch the new HBO slop show that's goingto have 2-3 years between every season.

bingo. this is the same type of jewish number manipulation record companies and other media companies will do. like if they say "Taylor swifts latest album went platinum (1 million copies) in a week!" it means they shipped 1 million CDs and records to target and other retailers, + combined it with botted streaming numbers.
The truth is a few dry women bought a copy or streamed it on the way to work while 50 of those "sold" copies sit in each kiosk in every target across the country.
then they can lie and use fake chart data (or box office data, sales data etc ) as free marketing points to investors i.e., "the art of the scam"

Upper deck who mostly makes sports cards is currently making a collectable (non playable) HP card set. this is intentionally double dipping by hasbro because the Magic Harry Potter set will be collectable and playable but the Upper Deck one will be the "first" in this current series (there already HP cards out there through out the years)
strixhaven is a very poor cope to try and appease the cultivated base of freaks and throw a bone to their in-house garbage writers.
its so bad they're having to staple on Power 9 cards to this slop of a set to generate interest

This is the reason I don't think we'll be getting a HP set very soon. HP is doing very well right now as a brand. They don't need a crossover with some slowly dying tcg and they can demand a premium for licensing and royalties, etc.
>>
>>97868269
>and if they didn't use his likeness
They wouldn't. Using actor likenesses is a pain in the ass and also means you'd need to get 3 forms of art approval (WOTC, The IP holder, and the actor/their estate.) they only do it when required, like Doctor Who.
>>
>>
>>97868248
Its because these "fans" havent actually engaged with any of the franchises media since they were 12 lol. They pretend to like it for political brownie points. They have no oppinions, they just want to be in the "in" group.
I reread Potter during the coof and it was just really mid. Goblet of Fire still went hard but even for childrens/YA reading the plot just stumbles at the end. So many seemingly important plot threads and themes (like Dumbledores comments on the statue of the wizard holding up his wand over lesser beings, and what Voldemore replaces it with) just go fucking nowhere. Or the shelf with "all" the time turners on it that Neville knocks over and destroys all the time machines in the universe forever.
I still firmly believe that she changed her mind on the ending very late for the sake of trying to make it in to an appealing brand. The final book is so fucking safe. All the build up and hints just to do a very plain good va evil ending (magic slavery and magic caste systems still exist also Harry is now a wizard fed in the broken systemhe spent half the series fighting against).

Wow, I am only hearing about this now and that's hilarious.
Capcom has made a lot of stupid decisions in recent years but every once in a while they do something based. Absolutely 0 chance that JotC axed this because of fan feedback (equally ridiculous to believe them when the designers said 'we are big fans of MH too and that's why we did this SL') so the only logical explanation is that Capcom was the one who put their foot down.

Do you pay 3 life for all 6? In a deck with a high likelihood of having 40 of them? Not to mention whatever demon I just grabbed could be something like Vilis where all of that saved mana on casting them can be spent to just draw more. Yes, that's a highly specific scenario but I'm trying to demonstrate that it isn't some kind of infinite combo but it can be quite scary in the wrong position.

If you were at 36 or less, you just lost.
You pay all 6, he'll get a blood letter, if you pay less, he'll get Vilis to keep drawing, or runescared to get another combo piece.
And just keep going until you're dead.
Both he and I have pointed out how this will just keep going until you're dead one way or another. All of this coming from a 3 card engine.
So, he does all of this "until he wins." So yes, its a combo. Now stop being dumb.
>>

Baked into the term of art "combo" in magic is the implication that it deterministically wins the game. It's correct to state that an infinite loop in isolation isn't a combo, there are plenty of loops that do nothing. Likewise there are plenty of combos that aren't infinite that win the game. Storm is the classic example. Cards that work together to achieve powerful ends are not combos, rather synergies. Connotatively a combo must deterministically win on the spot, barring interaction, in order to be considered such.

FINALLY. Someone else points it out. I've been saying this for years but GōtC keeps trying to only push creatures so that UB has the same footing as in-universe.

I dont know why it's 15 bucks since I've had it for a long time (I made that comment about boon reflection, beacon, ajani, etc). but it can be really useful. its 6¢ on MTGO.
the original card is from Shadowmoor which is about 15 years ago (2008ish?)

my only expensive commander is Koma, because he's got "can't be countered" and then "ward 4", and even with that I run a lot of blue counterspells and green "hexproof/indestructible" protection.

>>97869329
A lot of removal is instants, I think she works great.Just give her vigilance, and you have a very stable lifegain source. The only issue is that the other players can indefinitely put you beneath 30/40 life, where she will just be demoted to a 4/4 lifelink, and eventually if she gets removed several times she's not worth casting.
With an ideal start you can gain some life before turn 4, cast her as a 5/5 menace lifelink and snowball life from there. (When in doubt, exquisite blood + sanguine bond...)
>>
>>97869336
You say this like people run instant speed spot removal like responsible players instead of:
>No removal except StP (most common)
>All removal is boardwipes
>All removal is an enchantment aimed at locking a commander
>>
>>97869357
If the removal stuff happens then it happens, regardless of who your commander is.
Locking out the instants is still a good thing, if that's what your opponents have drawn at the moment. (I still run several black recursion spells like "if it died this turn, it returns tapped with a counter on it or whatever")

>Swordfag is so beyond shameless that I doubt samefagging to defend himself ever crosses his mind
This is so demonstrably wrong I legit think you could be swordtard trying to persuade people you don’t samefag.
Whenever swordtard gets criticized, suddenly multiple “anons” leap to his defense. When you point out how obvious that is, one of them will claim to just be “le trolling xD”
Whenever swordtard isn’t around and someone brings him up he gets absolutely dunked on without any defense.
It could not be any more obvious. He wants to cultivate this chill guy persona and be liked by the communities he posts in. That’s why he trips in the first place. So when he gets flak, he posts under his trip acting like it doesn’t bother him, and then makes multiple posts anonymously to defend his honor

I know you think youre 300IQ for tying to rubber-and-glue the shit people say about you onto your critics in hopes of discrediting them, but the problem youre having here is that you are not critical of yourself and just repeating back the same shit people say to you when you DEFEND yourself (trip back on etc) doesnt make any sense so people won’t fall for it

that was not I who posted the trinket mage video. I would never say that planes walkers should be commanders. in fact, I borderline think the commanders should only be elder dragons or similar mana value to elder dragons

Garbage OC. Why in the ever-loving fuck would I want to be forced to sac all my books instead of drawing 1 off each as needed? Also why doesn't it cost anything to activate? Also are you aware that's just strictly better clue tokens?
>>97869873
Rooms 2.0? A brand new card type that will receive moderate support in the set it releases in and not see any more support for years because WotC has a 2 year design cycle and needs to see how it was received by the playerbase first.

There's an older more obvious one than rooms, those are still enchantments at the end of the day and can at least synergize with any old enchantress deck. Battles however...

you know, the more I think about it, the more I like the mechanic.
>free to use, but need at least 2 of them to draw a single card
>lose all other books in the process
>perfect synergy for token+artifact aristocrats
but here's another idea:
>Token Artifact - Book
>1, T, Sacrifice this artifact: Each player mills a card.
