>>98123970 Great bread, op. We all know what we're doing here. I TQ would be good, though. >TQ How many draw spells do you tend to run, as in spells that just seek to draw you cards without much synergy with the deck? Personally I tend to avoid them entirely, even if it really is better to put them in instead of meh synergy pieces.
>>98124029 >that just seek to draw you cards without much synergy with the deck? None unless the deck theme is so weak/generic that it doesn't have/benefit from synergistic draw effects
>>98124048 Right, but you only might have a couple of those in the deck. Taking out weaker synergy pieces for straight card draw means you can draw into your good synergy pieces faster and more consistantly. But for me, I don't care, I just want synergy.
>>98124029 I put draw in my command zone. I have a bizarre and janky deck which is a kaalia deck with Queen Marchesa in the command zone for draw and politics.
What you think monarch is: >People fight over the monarchy making the game more dynamic What monarch really is: >One guy hits you with an evasion creature on turn 2 and hoards it the whole game What you think initiative is: >People fight over the initiative making the game more dynamic What initiative really is: >It's too complicated and the rewards are too late so people don't attack you so they don't have to deal with it
>>98124028 Because pds >98124019 >98124029 >98124098 wasn't having a pissbaby freakout about the op and samefagging up the thread with his crying. All the trolling, offtopic spam, low quality posting, etc, is being done by 1-2 anons.
>>98124029 I actually like to run a bunch because sometimes you're topdecking and then you pull a synergy piece that does nothing because the board was wiped or something so it doesn't help at all but it really depends on the deck
>>98096489 Can't recommend this Choose a Background + Background combination. It's fun to play, but your opponents are getting extremly upset if you remove their 6+ mana threat for 1. Even on a budget this guy slaps. People will probably be less salty if you switch that Background for something less oppressive.
>>98124029 >Commander draws cards like 3 or 4. >Commander doesn't draw cards 7 or 8 It feels bad not having synergy pieces, but sometimes you gotta draw cards to find those synergy pieces.
Getting this order in was kind of a pain in the ass, like buying cards is a pvp activity. Managed to not get got, good luck bros. Worth it for the cashback.
>>98124911 but I love shit on the walls! wotc should print shit on wall cards for wider appeal. there are LOTS of us too so they are just leaving money on the table
>>98125652 >>98125656 I believe they have a way for sellers to see what is currently in cart AND are able to change the pricing of that item. ALL of those cards were the lowest priced NM when I added them to cart. Also saw people putting cheaper shit at $0.01 but with $20 shipping SPECIFICALLY to fuck over auto add to cart. Obviously look at your cart before checkout but this is just scummy shit.
>>98125557 >>98125560 Meanwhile USEA sent me 3 extra cards by mistake in my last order and when I asked if they wanted to just send me another charge to pay for em they said to just think of them as freebies and not worry about it.
This is going to be the Chinese century and it's going to be based as fuck.
>>98125560 I dont understand how americans accept tcgplayer as their man secondary mtg market. the platform sucks ass compared to cardmarket and cardmarket gets worse every year.
>>98125881 USEA is pretty cool. BL used to be THE Chang for counterfeits and USEA was kinda shit. USEA bothered to actually work on his craft (lol) and improved. Figured out foiling at a level the others haven't/can't. I just got in an order a few weeks ago and they're bretty gud.
>>98126223 Saruman The White Hand has army synergy which is cool. Effectively builds it himself nicely. Quickly growing an orc army and throw it at people is fun. Saruman Of The Many Colors could be interesting as a pseudo theft commander that doesn't actually steal, but I think you'll have eyes on you right out do the gate just for the fact he says mill.
>>98125720 Feels very suboptimal at this point in time. Not too enthused about it but I did work up the energy to throw it together before FNM. Will definitely be receiving some minor changes after tonight.
>>98126243 For WUB Saruman, I mostly just want a home for cool "second spell" and "second card" effects. He's too expensive to build entirely around imo. Is mill really so hated? I've never seen it in the wild, but it seems pretty bad without a combo in edh
>>98126286 Ah ok. A second spell theme would make sense then. If you have a theme in mind you may as well go for it then. Plenty of spells that should work well for that theme. As for mill and it's reaction, pretty much? Even if it's just incidental mill I've seen tables get uppity about it. I've played The Master Transcendent for a while and even when I exclusively mill myself I've seen players getting spooked at just the potential of having to mill cards from RAD counters. But I wouldn't let that entirely dissuade you. Just something to keep in mind.
>>98126339 Yep. It probably should be, and if it wasn't I'd cut that ancient tomb instead to still qualify for bracket 3. I don't really trust WotC's conception of the GC list, but I'll build by it.
>get swung at with commander lethal, has akromas will >be dimir morphplayer >block with my colorless creature >flip it face up >phyrexian obliterator >no trample >sacrifices all of his permanents
>>98126568 I'd honestly be fine with numangara if he looked anywhere near as cool as OG Mangara Unfortunately all modern mtg negros must conform to american nigger aesthetics. The WotC quest to visually transform all blacks into heckin wholesome inner city dwellers continues
I shall be constructing a radha predh deck posthaste. All my boys that got pushed out of the spotlight deserve a second chance. Imagine flashing in a Bogardan Hellkite off her attack trigger. Kino I tell you.
>>98126480 So just get a proxy made of Mangara the Diplomat with Mangara of Corondor's art. Keep the official printing handy to prove you aren't "proxying for power." Simple fix no one could complain about.
Why does Pantlaza have more decks than Gishath? Is it simply because it costs less so it's out earlier? They are very similar cards but Gishath seems stronger
>>98127244 Pantlaza is much stronger. You're guaranteed to get another card, and he doesn't need to connect. He's also way cheaper, typically coming out on turns 3-4 instead of 5-7. His cheaper cost also means you can get away with running less ramp and more cool dinosaurs. Gishath is basically higher risk with a higher investment, but a potentially bigger reward. A gambler should follow his heart on which he prefers.
>>98127655 >Post on here about 7 person EDH game >People all agree it's a terrible idea >Comes to the day >4 people flake Typical normies. I guess a 3 person game won't be terrible. Maybe we can find a fourth. I'm just glad I don't have to torture myself with that slogfest.
Finally updating my Zada deck, after half a decade of not touching her. Keeping all GCs out of the list, and I definitely need to tune the draw/buff/trample/token ratios.
Anyone have some secret/spicy tech for my girl? I already know that Chaos Warp is fucking stupid to essentially trade my entire board for all the permanent in my deck, and Devastating Onslaught is just funny.
Now I don't know if I should wait until the Fantastic 4 decklist releases on the 9th or pick up a copy of Temur Roar at my LGS. Just have a good feeling the F4 precon will suck as all precons with 4+ colors usually do.
Turns 1-5: Everyone is just setting up. Maybe a few potshots of damage, a few exchanges, but everyone's life should be above 30. Anyone who was mana-screwed or flooded has had a chance to try and catch up, and everyone has at least one form of removal to contribute to the group's "Fuck that" fund.
Turns 6-10: Players start swinging. Anyone that attempts a combo gets it shut down, anyone that amasses an army or a nasty voltron or a big pillow fort triggers a board wipe, and most of the damage is done in increments of 5-10 damage to a player per turn.
Any player that has amassed too much power is targeted by everyone else, and is often eliminated early as a punishment for spending too much on cards. If a player has 60 or more life at this point, using a combo to kill them is appropriate.
Turns 11-15: Players have been eliminated, and there's opportunities for really big plays that end the game.
The winner is someone that's been engaged with the board state throughout the game, has dealt at least 5 damage to each other player, has disrupted at least one game-ending combo or board state, and the only time they focused all their attention on one player is either with the consensus of the rest of the group or that player is the only other one remaining.
I made a mono-blue bracket 2 deck that pretty much just draws excessively and mills opponents, but can also pull off some beatdowns if need be.
I miss the older aesthetic, so I spent some time in MSE today remaking all of the more modern cards in the classic frames. I'll upload photos once I'm done running back and forth to the printer
>>98128235 You happen to have any lists for Necrobloom? I've been needing a Landfall list forever, and it's either gonna be him or imma bite the bullet and build Lumra.
>>98128245 One of my favorite decks, though you're not actually building it right. The stickers fall off if the creature goes to hand so the mass bounce is bad.
>>98128439 It's not that complicated. I've had a few LGS players bitch about it being confusing, but they're your run-of-the-mill EDH players so they're inherently stupid.
>>98128547 It's not that it's hard, it's just not fun. You're a self-absorbed moron and prioritize your fun over the table's. Some decks are fun for everyone, some are fun maybe for the guy running it.
The design of vehicles is shit and a permanent scar on the game. Tapping creatures to "crew" is too thin and abstract. Creatures should have been equipped to the vehicle.
>>98127778 This framework is fundamentally incompatible with how many ridiculously overloaded cards exist in the format outside the banlist. A Rhystic Study on 3 either delays your opponents so much, you're going to win, or draws you so many cards, you're going to win. In a scenario only one player has access to Rhystic Study (e.g. luck of the draw), their deck has to be built exceptionally poorly (granted, this is extremely common for most EDH players) in order to still lose from that position, even if all 3 opponents are trying to slow them down, specifically because Rhystic Study is slowing your opponents down even further. >But player removal Playing creatures is casting a spell. It is subject to all the same principles that make Rhystic Study a good card.
Question, if I manage to copy isshin and having 2 isshin on the battlefield, when a the trigger abilities go off, how many more do I get? 1 more per isshin copy for a total 2 extras or do I check stack and it multiplies? Resolve the first Isshin, so I get the original trigger and a second one, then resolve the second isshin and the 2 trigger abilites in the stack for a total of 4?
>>98127948 A lot of laminating and cutting left to do still, but 18 sheets of prints are finished. I know that most people seem to hate the "reissue" look, but the first cards I was given as a kid were mostly 6th edition, so I have a soft spot for blue frames on white borders.
>>98126371 I've been listening to a lot of Tales Under the Oak lately and I've been thinking of building this dude to make a deck that channels those same whimsical frog folk vibes.
>>98128625 >1 more per isshin copy this one isshin himself doesnt use the stack also how do you plan on getting around the legend rule to have multiple isshins
>>98128619 >This framework is fundamentally incompatible with how many ridiculously overloaded cards exist in the format outside the banlist rhystic is banned in b2, and generally speaking the anon you replied to describes b2, though games at b2 usually end at T9+
Actually just had a interaction where I had Isshin and Windcrag Siege out with Mardu option selected, I just said 2 isshins on the previous post since I could only post one pic at the time, but both are the same ability.
>>98128642 The game changer list is, unfortunately, not comprehensive enough to creature this ideal. Many cards that basically read "I win the game" still exist outside the GC list, even if you ignore the elephant in the room that is Sol Ring.
>>98128645 >muh sol ring sol ring only shows up in your opener 8% of the time the fact you're crying about it proves that you dislike early wins no matter how unlikely/likely they are and that's why disallowing combos/alternate wincons until your natural T9 in b2 is the correct way of using brackets
>Everyone on here tells me Krenko is shit >I've never seen Krenko win a game >Anon you stupid fucker you haven't played commander in too long you don't understand how it works anymore >Play commander with some friends for the first time in a long time >One of them has Krenko >Wins turn 5 with infinite combo You fuckers
>>98128999 >You see anon you have to run hate specifically for Krenko >Don't play your own commander just hold removal for Krenko and his combo pieces >What somebody else was doing something too and you stopped them? How dare you! FOCUS ONLY KRENKO You are insufferable.
>>98129003 >You see anon you have to run hate specifically for Krenko no? those cards are universally good and you should play them in every deck where they don't affect your gameplan >Don't play your own commander just hold removal for Krenko and his combo pieces yes you retard, if someone is playing a deck that wins faster than you, you should stop them first >What somebody else was doing something too and you stopped them? How dare you! FOCUS ONLY KRENKO nice strawman but you focus the player who is currently the biggest threat >You are insufferable. and you sound like a whiny bitch
>>98128942 My group typically plays a bit slower, but one guy has a Krenko deck that obviously just does Krenko things. We've come to know it and how to deal with it quite well, so there was one game where the rest of us were especially slow he ended up casting Krenko for something like 14 mana by the end of the game.
>>98126223 >>98126286 >>98126243 I have built the Esper Saruman and it's mostly just ramp, card draw and goodstuff and every game plays different because I play other people's spells. The problem is you have to go through graveyards a lot and think about what you want to be doing so it really makes the games take longer than if you played something else. Oh, and only retarded noobs hate mill. Which is to say that you run into it a lot.
My LGS has got LotR precons in stock, which will probably disappear very quickly. I don't usually play commander, I do pioneer, but I've been thinking of getting into it a little more and I'm tempted to grab one of these precons while they're about, eyeing the hobbit one in particular. Is anyone familiar with it, is it fun and reasonably effective out of the box? I'm unlikely to invest much in it, maybe a sensible cheap upgrade here or there but for the most part I'd expect it to be something I bring out a few times a year and play largely unmodified in a casual pod.
I am thinking of becoming a "Universes Beyond, unmodified precon ONLY" player. I don't care about winning, I only play Commander as a vehicle to socialize with humans IRL. I do not respect the deckbuilding process for Commander (I will brew decks for other TCG, just not Commander). I'd rather have a weak deck that has a consistent lore/flavour than play a deck of goodstuff. Thanks for reading my schizo-rant.
>>98129311 You don't really have to play precons only for that. You can make block constructed decks or semi block constructed decks with cards from only one specific setting but if you don't feel like sifting through many many cards that's fair enough.
>>98128942 To be fair to the hyperbolic retard(s) who post here, Krenko usually IS shit because at a competent table he's a removal magnet and at an incompetent table he wins the game turn 5-6. So either Krenko becomes 10+ mana to cast real fast or gets imprisoned in the moon and the krenko player is sitting there playing a B1 aggro deck, or the game is over because Krenko was allowed to combo off.

>>98129355 Wasn't this decently popular? I mean as SOL high school hobby niche manga go, I got the impression it had a decent run. Didn't read it myself so idk.
>>98129264 >>98129324 Magic has a show in production with Netflix that appears to be escaping production hell and actually getting made. Definitely gonna be Chandra focused in-universe show. Knowing Wizards they're probably gonna try copying Arcane's homework but release it years after that type of show is able to hold any cultural relevancy.
>>98129622 But Jace is a straight white male there is a reason he is the one turned evil/extremist in the plotline now, instead of he could have easily fuck off to some plane with Vraska and adopt some kid there, but they had to turn him into the next big arc villain.

>>98129950 I fucking hate "gain life, do thing" design The benefit of gaining life is that you have more life and you force the other player to play the game for 5 more hours
>>98129264 Yugioh already gave magic the layup for what a successful TCG show looks like. Focus on people actually playing the game. It isn't hard to write an interesting scripted game of magic (see: any commander youtube channel who have been doing this for years.) Hell, EDH itself embraces the Yugioh thing where every character has a signature monster. People love it when their favorite character has an easily identifiable creature that goes with them and there are multiple formats where that is literally built into the game.
>>98129076 Thanks man. They're printed on 230gsm photo paper and real cards are printed on ~330gsm card stock with a reinforced core. After lamination, mine will actually end up snappier than legit cards, but they'll also be a bit thicker and they won't feel the same unsleeved because of the outer plastic layer. Sleeved and in a deck, I don't notice any real difference between the proxies and my real cards.
>Hatsune Miku gets a million reskins >Shitty dead IPs get cool mechanically unique cards. >Mikus reskins are not even artifact creatures I will never now be mad. I don't really want to run Spinxes because I've already used a lot of blue recently
>>98129636 Yeah, and right after they set up Valgavoth to be the bext bbeg, handling the map of the multiverse of a silver platter, then they just... bring him to another plane for no apparent reason and he escapes. Absolutely retard shit.
