Post your actual mocs and strange parts. I have these clutch testers I feel would be funny to try and incorporate, the milky white one being the easiest since its a technic balljoint

The IP may be dead but our fandom is passionate. New art, animations, custom sets and competitions are created every year. Idk how someone gets into bionicle though I can’t imagine many of us are below the age of like 25. My lil bro is into it but that’s only cuz of me.

How to grip them? I have 0 idea, since any grip is basically useless on the green ones due to their odd shape and nonexistent connection point besides the stud on top, only idea I have would be technic minifig hands but thats it, the milky white one is a nice trophy on a belt, and the clear one could be a cool eyes piece with enough fuckery since its the only mixel joint in non normal gray color out currently, also that sucks lol

repostan this guy's moc and my sketch
To rehash: I like the top-heavy proportions with the skinny legs, although the midsection is a bit bulky, and doing something custom for the legs could make it more visually interesting but may be without making them thicker. The wings also make the silhouette very busy, and I think it could go without. Smaller, asymmetric weapons, or something like a weapon+shield combo could also be cool and let the figure stand out more.

His upper body was really heavy, so his spine was always twisted to fuck. The digitigrade legs were also a bit loose; shame there aren't more small-scale ways to improve friction.

RIP to all the MOCs my mom gave away along with the rest of my pieces. She gave them to the kids of some family friends after I moved away, and I think the three guys above were still together at the time, along with a few others (one dark green and tan ninja-esque guy with a Zesk head and another attempt at digitigrade legs is what I remember specifically; wish I had a photo). It's odd to imagine a kid jumping in to building with Bionicles without starting from regular sets, so I hope my MOCs gave them inspiration for what they could do with all those parts. And I hope they're still holding up to stress.

>>11673143
>Thats actually pretty damn smart
Thanks, but I think the problem was that while it stood well, it wouldn't pose well. What I wish existed was a slider piece, like a beam except it's hollow all the way down except maybe a pin at one end, such that a shorter version of the piston axle with its flat head could slide through it. It'd be low-profile and and add resistance to joints that only need a single degree of freedom.
>Were you ever able to straighten out his back?
I think not. It was only a single balljoint in there, and even if he was always a technically slumped forward it still meant I could rotate the torso. I'm having a hard time imagining if parallel balljoint connections would lose a degree of freedom or not, but that's what I'd try if I were to redo it, and if rotation were lost then a pin with sufficient friction could be used at the hips maybe; 1.5 pin with an axle end plugged into a 2-deep hole would probably be firm for posing with a heavier torso.
The main problem with this guy was mostly in the fatass shield-sword in his right hand; those hoses looping through the back were structural, and kept the flimsy shoulder joints up. Piraka thighs as forearms didn't help.
>your pic
I like him. Reminds me of the style of pic related, from a guy who used to post her regularly. Wish more anons were still posting MOCs, even stud.io stuff. What else have you got?

Toa were pretty much designed to be the super soldier version of Glatorian, so on any obvious combat-related metric they're going to be better by default. Of course there might be more subtle advantages to having an augmented biological body and a natural mind as opposed to both being fully artificial, this has surely been discussed to death by some transhumanists somewhere.

Got any pics of his MOCs? I've got a few more from the other guy I'll post once I have time to fix the rotation, though sadly it's only a handful and I remember him posting more prolifically than that.
There was a nice period of MOC-posting a few years ago. The Hordika revamps in pic related were something good to come out of it, and were cool for the fact that the designer took suggestions from the thread.

This guy's MOCs were always neat. As someone always more concerned with articulation, it was cool to see builds centred on a function.
>>11675144
This is nice. Got any other angles? or photos without armour? I'd like to see what the skeleton is behind this.
It was pointed out in the last thread that Kongu Mahri's body was more modular than the standard Inika build, which is cool to me, never having had that set. Any time I see a more varied "base" set it's exciting, and I wish the "basic" skeleton was built more on modular multi-use pieces than the big uni-purpose ones, even if I can see why practically that's not reasonable in a toy for kids.
It kind of exists in Bionicle, but a deeper split between decorative and functional/structural pieces is something I try to imagine sometimes. Forelimbs for instance are very specialised, and carry a lot of the "look" of a Bionicle, but aren't so easily used outside of their original purpose. Armour pieces land in the visual-only category, and things like Technic beams in structural. A deeper split sort of came about with CCBS, I guess, but I think a lot of the design language was lost, and the skeleton too homogenised.

>Kongu Mahri's body
I know this isn't what you're saying, but it's stupid that his chest was only ever used for him. No recolor, no variant, nothing. Parts casters need to get on it making that part more available.
>>
>>11675998
>I know this isn't what you're saying
No, that's definitely part of it; a structural piece becomes super specialised because it's also decorative (is primary colour, in terms of set language). Had it been in the standard grey it would have been more versatile, but boring as shit in a basic set. Had there been some kind of more general decorative/armour piece overtop of the chest then it'd be a little closer to the ideal, but more sophisticated and expensive.

That part is incredibly frustrating though, but just another layer of how mismanaged that site is and how poorly categorized it is.
Priority to the newest Star Wars and superhero figs being added, but any interesting parts are lucky to be added at all, or as we've seen with Bionicle many times, in the right colors and categories.

I wanted to go for an angelic knight in shining armor and really want to keep the wings. as a result I feel instead a weapon change might be better such as a greatsword. his midsection will end up bulkier because right now he is held up by a single ball and a backplate that doesnt let him fall back.

>>
>>11683596
Some guys on insta have been doing just that. Wish I could remember the name, but he's done Pridak and Takadox claws in the glow in the dark blue. I think he did Caraper heads the same, too?
>>11683528
>>11683596
Yeah that's the plan, he's still a heavy WIP. Already redid the waist since that was too chunky at a glance. I'll let him sit for now and work on Basher next.
>>
>>11683307
>>11683678
I think you need to shorten his spine a bit since it throws the proportions way off, plus it doesn't look very stable (or won't be once you finish his arms and give him weapons). I was going to suggest you remove one pair of the ribs, but looking at how they're connected I guess it wouldn't be so easy to take out just one, and with half of them gone it might lose the look, but I think they'd still be better off reduced, and with that axle extender removed.
The spine you've built looks cool, but I'd still be thinking about stability once you've built him up more. If you placed the ballkoint further up his spine it'd look more natural and the weight wouldn't have so much leverage on it (think of where your own ribcage pivots, which is a little bit above its lowest ribs, and much further up from the hips).
>>11683058
Gangsta indeed.
>>11683296
Rahkshi head with Bohrok feet in my mind demands digitigrade legs. Nice colours, as the other guy said.
>>11683056
>angelic knight in shining armor
This pose sells it better, including the wings.
>his midsection will end up bulkier because right now he is held up by a single ball and a backplate that doesnt let him fall back
Could you find a way to root the wings at the hips? It'd take a lot of weight off the top, though I guess the shoulders are still pretty heavy. I'd still push you towards a skinnier middle to break up and balance the silhouette a bit.
With the knight thing in mind, any chance you've got Knights Kingdom weapons in your collection? (Probably yes, considering the shoulders.) One of those swords could be cool, and a shield.

>>11684139
Interesting, let me guess he super upcharges them, or no?
>>
>>11684527
I mean, they're small batch and probably aren't the easiest to get in that coloration. I'm looking at past examples and he did Malum claws in that and they were $20 for a pair. Seems $20 is the baseline for most of the parts he does and you usually get two or more, depending on what part it is. Others he's done are Caraper shells, Vladek swords, 08 small blades, and Pridak blades.

I had the bionicle dream last night, I was at work stocking the valentines section when I noticed I had boxes for valentines themed bionicles ( basically reprints but in white, pink and red). When I walked to the lego aisle the girls working over there were stocking the shelves with normal bionicles, the wave consisted of several sets from a few different years, it seemed like they were planning on re-releasing them all but you would have to collect them over years to complete the different waves.
>>
>>11684549
Nah not my thing, but it's been great to see more creators casting parts in colors that did not exist before.
No clue on how he does business. He has done reprints but again, they're small batch and he's one guy, so it's probably at the whims of "how will this part look" and "did this sell out quick/have I been getting demands for more"

I think you need two endpoints and the cable, it can be threaded through certain holes such as the droideka here being our best example of its usage on a figure

Nice scene. Is that krana 3D-printed? The texture looks funny for some reason.

These Star Wars sets always looked impressive, but are they effectively just statues? or is there some ability to pose them?

Lack of printed arms will be forgiven if the mask is a really nice one-off mold and the head is a Mata head with the pink eyes on the front and printed on the back too. Otherwise it just seems dumb to make this one-off Tahu not have printed arms to complete the look.

The real face print seems to just be a standard smiling guy but the new mold for the kanohi mask is incredible
>>

I hope this is real, and that trans pink 'helmet' as a facsimile for the Mata head looks great. If the mask is a separate piece that actually plugs into that helmet, that would be incredible (and surely easier than dual molding a single piece). If ever there were Bionicle Minifigs I had always hoped that the masks would be separate elements, just like they were on the sets. Ready made collectibles just like that.

Would you be interested in a bionicle roguelike?
roguelike as in, actually like rogue, turn based, grid movement, simplistic visuals, etc etc.
I asked before and no one showed interest, but now I'm actually making one and it wouldn't be hard to change it and make it bionicle themed.

Of course, and it lends itself pretty well with basically different parts to equip, from weapons, to masks of power, to different limbs with various strengths, etc. But making it Bionicle proper would be a mistake cause Lego will just come down on you, mostly likely. Something with that spirit in mind and maybe some similar themes and designs would work fairly well, I'd think.

Seconding the idea for mask, however it'd be good to find a way for some not to be useless (Kaukau, Rau, etc). As for making it Bionicle proper, just finish the whole thing and release it already complete, even if Lego strike you down you already won

it's not gonna be big enough for lego to notice, just a fun hobby project

Via someone notable? If just through analysis or something I'd still consider it hearsay. You'd think one of the leakers who've seen it could just shut it down if it isn't real but I've not seen any specific comments one way or another.

IDK how anyone can ask for the source on this being AI when you can confirm it by looking at it for five seconds. The head looks like the standard smile but there's a random dimple under the mouth for no reason. The table in the background trails off into nothingness in a way that makes no sense. The details underneath the mask are weird too.

Question for you guys. I sometimes buy bulk Lego and end up with Bionicle/HeroFactory stuff I don't want. Complete sets I can sell/trade to my local shop, but parts just sit in the way.
I don't do ebay and don't feel like selling small batches on Bricklink. If I offered up the whole bag on here or BST, is it something someone might be interested in? 155 parts total, about 1.5 lbs. A few masks, some weapons, lots of joints, armor, etc. I also have about a dozen instruction booklets I could throw in.
Pic rel is a full inventory printed from Rebrickable. Let me know, and we'll go from there.
