Getting the base one and blue, already have SS. The swap potential is going to to be nice. Can have ultimate Gohan on the darker orange base body. Can put base and SS on the blue body for the dbs looks. Or can put blue on one without a symbol. Getting a bunch of headsculpts and bodies for so cheap is really nice.

He feels so poorly designed and handled despite being hyped up as a turning point for the SHF Dragon Ball line.

Like why is there only shading on the front but none in the back? It makes the figure looks like a unfinished prototype you would see during special events.

Why is there so many QC issues to the point it's now a gamble if your Games Begins Goku is (almost) flawless or outright unusable when he's meant to be the biggest release of the year? Thankfully my copy only suffers from the right leg being a bit wobbly(He can still perfectly stand on his own) and his arm band has a different shade of blue when compared to the other.

Why is he so over-engineered? Like I understand they wanted to show off "new technology" with this Goku, but most people don't want to customize his sleeves or deal with absurd gaps when bending his upper body or feet. A simple 3.0 body with the engineering from Daima Adult Goku or Super Hero Gohan would have been perfectly fine.

All of these issues really makes me want to check out Demonical's Fit SSJ Martialist Forever now, as I've heard it doesn't have any QC and even has a base Goku head with a halo accessory.

Otherwise, it's a shame that Bandai fumbled so hard on this.

Not the anon you are replying to, but agreed. Figures like UI, SS2, and Lowest Born Saiyan still hold up well and don't necessarily *need* a 3.0 release like SSB and SSG did. That being said, we desperately need a new SS3 but Bandai pretends the Buu saga doesn't exist so who the fuck knows when that will happen. (I'd also argue they could do a 3.0 SS2 as the original was an EE and I'm sure there is a market for a cheap general release of that.)

Is the new God Goku's hairpiece a straight recolor of the base's or are the front bangs different like the older version? I know it's a budget release and it comes with a whole other windswept piece that looks cooler, but I like when they put in the little effort to make the hairs at least a little different.

Eh, I'd still give the worst to either 1.0 Saiyan Saga Vegeta or Kefla. After opening my Shallot, it is a bit better than i expected, but still not great:

You'd be surpised. Ive seen colors corrected with a flat coat. The unfinished plastic is almsot semi transparent and it appears lighter. A matte coat would stop as much light bounce so the skin will appear darker. Might not be 100% perfect but it might look way better. They might have even intended for a matte coat and it got ditched for a budget reason probably.

I love my Games Begin Goku, the shoulders are definitely an upgrade from SSJ4. My SSJ4 scraped some chest paint off with normal usage of the butterfly joint.

My one issue with the Games Begin is that the knees are too simple, it creates a bigger point of failure. Mine’s left knee is a bit loose. I’d definitely have preferred more sturdy knees like SSJ4.

Just wanted to do a quick height comparison with the ZT Broly and some other big characters and average characters. Took out Kefla just to see how she is. That is the max leg range of her and the mini Vegeta. The mini Vegeta has a bit more leg range. Her torso range is huge though which is why she's posed like that. Her arm range sucks too. Her head is really heavy and she's held up by her head touching Broly. I wanted to see the leg range of that Piccolo while I was at it. He has more range than that. Him and Vegeta are standing entirely on their own. All the Daima figures have better arm and leg range than Kefla. Her torso range for going backwards is really good with no gapping. Going forwards not so much.
A lot of mind boggling decisions went into her, and smaller characters can do better than she can. GT Goku is better in every way as well and I think he has comparable torso range. At least she looks ok but would need a stand for anything I did with her in my actual display.

This yeah. When I had the other Brolys in my display they were reaching for Gogeta and the old Z Broly was firing blasts. Plus I play around with them from time to time so I find the open blast hand and a fist work the best for that. I don't know what I'm allowed to have on my figures when they aren't currently in a case. Maybe I'll just have them hand less next time I post a height comparison.

Two out of three of those figures I mentioned are good, though. Like the back gap shouldn't really matter because you likely won't be looking at it in poses where you have them crunched, but the same applies to Games Begin. And then a little more so since with Games Begin they even gave you an option to close the gap.
