Last year the guy basically showed up for the first time publicly since he took office in 2019 and unleashed his Don Mattrick moment in the big Switch 2 press coverage event, dropping several egregious anti-costumer bombshell statements like how there's going to be a "variable pricing" model for Nintendo games which he made it sound like they will be arbitrarily charging $10 more for certain games because they think it's warranted, and he even repeated Mattrick's same exact talking point about how "if you can't afford the new generation console feel free to buy the old one instead". People memed him to hell on socials and gave him a lot of shit, Nintendo took note of it and a few months later he posted that he's suddenly "leaving" the company, which means he got axed. It's extremely unlikely for a company president to step down voluntarily right after a major launch of a new product like this.
