So are pre-orders really necessary?
I know they sell out at places like Entertainment Earth but I see shit that was supposed to sell out like Superboy still virtually peg-warming at BBTS and Amazon?
All I really want is the suited body and the smiling head.
>>
>>11685984
It really just depends on the character. Figures like Clark and Bruce more than likely won't sell out. I pre order them regardless because I'm not charged until they're shipped so what do I care? I prefer to lock in my order than gamble if it will stay in stock or not.
>>
>>11686038
So you are ordering them from someplace like Amazon? When I went to the Mafex site, and hit place order/pre-order on the Hush Superman, it went to Amazon.

Or are people ordering from an importer site and which one? Ali looks like a fucking nightmare to search and properly sort for shit.
>>
>>11686053
I order most imports from Amiami. It's still a dollar or two cheaper than domestic sites with the Japanese yen conversion, even with tariffs.
>>
>>11686064
>Amiami
Thanks for the reply.
What is it about import companies that simple things like sorting or responding with "out of stock" items is something that requires effort by end users.
You're right, the prices are better for what they have available than I see on EE, BTS, Amazon, etc., but since they don't provide shipping fees for stuff they have on hand, even when they made me fill out my address, it's a bit pointless.
Sigh.

If you are seriously interested in improving the quality of this board, join with all the other boards who aren't happy that the site allowed phone posting. In many of the circumstance where you are talking about 'underage posting' or 'posting from third world countries' or any of your other bogeyman situations, it's phone posting that is involved, largely because it's also the cheapest way for most people to obtain broadband internet access. Do you know that in India, many people have phones with broadband even as they do not have jobs (or are, to your point, underage and still in schools) or a roof over their head that is actually their own?

Superman as an anime character. Look at that blue hair. I know comics use blue highlights to black hair all the time but this is way too heavy on the blue paint. It should be primarily black, with hints of blue. Not primarily blue with hints of black. This is Superman as Rey Ayanami.

As per Kaiju Daddy's source:
Medicom's policy of reissues over releasing new stuff is their attempt to get ahead of CT's bootlegging. That seems to be the big issue.

Looks like the price point on new releases is compensation for the reissues' prices having to remain at the original price point (Japanese consumer protection laws).

These reissues are low-volume, quick turnaround (one month), and they are interrupting established timelines for the new stuff (which have higher production numbers and therefore more income for the factory). The factories are not happy.
>>
>>11689203
Ah, so it's CT's fault my Tim Drake Robin has been delayed another two months. Not that I needed another reason to dislike CT.
>>
>>11689206
More Mafex's misguided course of action, but yes, CT is mostly to blame, lol.
The horse is already out of the barn with the figure CT has copied, there isn't a lot Medicom can do to make up the lost ground on those.
>>
>>11689206
>Not that I needed another reason to dislike CT.
Bro, have you played with a CT figure?
>>
>>11689211
I just hate that CT is shilled so heavily here. I know it's due to the boards user base mostly consisting of third worlders and poors, and that's why bootlegs are being pushed here so heavily. But it's still gay. I don't care how good they think CTs offerings are.
>>
>>11689212
I have three. And they range from ok to outright shit. The Anti Venom I have is probably the best one. Brown Suit Wolverine isn't bad but it definitely feels like a bootleg when compared to my legit Mafex figs. Then Ben Reilly Spiderman was outright bad. Sloppy paint, warped plastic on the hands, terrible feeling joints. Felt like your typical bootleg. No worse or better. So I feel like their offerings are too hit and miss to be considered. Sure, you may get a decent fig, but you might also get literal bootleg quality too. People bitch about Mafex QC but it's no where near as bad as some of the CT shit people gush over on this board that looks outright terrible.
>>
>>11689213
People like to pretend that companies like Hasbro, Mattel or NECA have actual paid skills that come here to push product when in reality, I can't find anything to be less organic than certain Chinese companies being pushed so heavily despite them being glorified bootlegs. I can understand something like LPZZ or something since they seem to make actually quality products, but I'll never not think the CT and Blokees spam is nothing more than chinks shilling their subpar products.

>Medicom has an already sluggish release schedule plagued by delays on a good day
>Market is somewhat hungry for reissues
>CT feeds market with bootlegs
>Market is for the most part, satiated by bootlegs
>Medicom after dragging their feet on reissues suddenly stops the fucking presses and decides to flood the market with reissues and fuck up their production schedule even more
Is Medicom retarded? This feels more like a petty revenge move from an executive who's ego is butthurt than an actual business strategy. The damage by CT is already done, at this point Medicom should just take the L on this and focus on putting out new figures while CT feeds on the scraps.

That's exactly what it sounds like.

Maybe Mafex should lower their prices so poor people don't have to resort to bootlegs. Everyone knows they are overcharging for what these cost to produce+a bit of profit.

I own some DC Direct and it wouldn't surprise me if Todd did this in at least one of his CE's but the blue on the black/dark brown hair, or however he's been drawn, isn't uncommon but you are right that the shot of all three heads is FAR too much blue.
Is that ANIME? Nope

>Rey Ayanami
>hints of black
Again, fair points on the blue but had to look him up but I guess Neon Gensis isn't that unknown, but isn't something that even Buddhist nuns sworn to vows of poverty in deepest India pre-internet could readily identify.

>>11688176
>>
>>11689213
>I know it's due to the boards user base mostly consisting of third worlders and poors
For me it's the simple fact that I can get 80% of a figure's quality for a fragment of the price. No matter how much money I have for the hobby, no action figure is worth paying over 40 bucks in my eyes. Now if there's a figure I really need to have, maybe I'd end up paying the price but if I have two options and the second option is significantly cheaper while the quality is still great, buying the original would literally be an irrational and dumb decision

>I don't care how good they think CTs offerings are
Because you're incapable of understanding that some people have a legit great experience with bootlegs. My Hush Batman turned out to have no flaws at all and I paid 15 bucks for him at that. Doesn't mean that other people won't have shitty QC Batman figures but why would I not recommend the figure if I had a positive experience?

>>11689226
>I can understand something like LPZZ or something since they seem to make actually quality products, but I'll never not think the CT and Blokees spam is nothing more than chinks shilling their subpar products
Companies get more out of sending freebies to Youtubers than chilling on a Taiwanese basket weaving forum. Opinions here are probably the most organic you will get on the internet along with a few other forums. Proof being that people like >>11689215 also discuss their poor experiences with the figures. Also, if you don't believe that bootleg companies might have solid releases, just look up Youtube reviews. They also range from great to meh
>>
>>11688191
It's a good suit and the figure seems good. Even with the sheen on the blue and the textures it could be somebody's single all-purpose Spider-Man. I don't really need another Mafex Spider-Man, though, and I only ("only") have four of them.
>>
>>11689213
I don't own any CT stuff (I don't own that many Mafex figures, even) but get real. It's just a matter of value, and Mafex's offerings are already dodgy along the same dimensions bootlegs are anyway (paint and joint tolerances), even if they're a lot better than they used to be. I tend to avoid bootlegs even in cases where the quality matches or outstrips the authentics (as we sometimes see with Transformers) but we don't need to invoke "the poors." These are action figures, not Delftware or Tiffany lamps you queef.
>>
>>11691645
This. Just because some idiots, myself included, will pay a surcharge for the originals, it doesn't mean that someone who is making a smarter financial choice automatically has less money at their disposal. If anything, companies like Mafex should think about why people are flocking to Bootleg companies.
>>
>>11691645
>Mafex's offerings are already dodgy along the same dimensions bootlegs are anyway (paint and joint tolerances
This hasn't been the case for like half a decade or more now. The three CTs I had have had way more QC issues than any of the dozen or more Mafex's I own. In fact, I've only gotten one bad figure I had to exchange, better track record than I've had with other import companies.
>>
>>11691663
>If anything, companies like Mafex should think about why people are flocking to Bootleg companies.
They should, but Medicom doesn't strike me as particularly introspective.
I don't have any CT figures, but they provided a decent set of claws for my Mafex tiger stripe Wolverine, so I at least give them kudos for that.
>>
>>11691670
How do you have the CT claws without buying Hellverine?
>>
>>11691675
Someone on eBay bought several and parred them out.
>>
>>11691669
And both of my CT figures had zero issues, what's your point? The chance for a bootleg to have worse QC is obviously higher but it doesn't mean that the figs can't end up being great and a better bang for your buck than originals. You people are so adamant on always being in the right that you literally can't fathom bootlegs sometimes being genuinely good

>>11691670
>but Medicom doesn't strike me as particularly introspective
Then they shouldn't complain about bootlegs taking a fair share of the market. No doubt bootlegs are a shitty practice but if you notice that losses are becoming too severe, it should be time to act
>>
>>11691669
I dunno, man. Neither my Knightfall Batman nor my Ben Reilly reissue are particularly well-painted. My 2099 Spider-Man is pretty good but there's not much going on there. They're decent, and no one else is doing anything better with either IP which is why I bought them, but they're not at all impressive for the price and I've seen duds. Mafex have gotten better, but they're still Mafex. They benefit enormously from their competition being Hasbro and McFarlane. I don't begrudge anyone not wanting to spend $70+ on them.
>The three CTs I had have had way more QC issues than any of the dozen or more Mafex's I own.
I don't doubt this, though.
>>
>>11691682
>And both of my CT figures had zero issues, what's your point?
That you don't exist in a vacuum and that I have experienced not great QC with CT as well as seen plenty of other examples, but because people only spent $20 on them, they excuse it. What's funny is these are the same people that endlessly bitch about Marvel Legends.

>You people are so adamant on always being in the right that you literally can't fathom bootlegs sometimes being genuinely good
I literally posted earlier how I have three figure that range from good to terrible. I don't know what more you want from me, Agent Anti Venom is pretty great, especially since there isn't an official AY of him.

>>11691687
>Neither my Knightfall Batman nor my Ben Reilly reissue are particularly well-painted
I mean post some pics so we can at least compare to my shitty CT Ben.
>>
>>11691699
>That you don't exist in a vacuum and that I have experienced not great QC with CT as well as seen plenty of other examples
So then we can agree that there is both great and poor QC for CT figures, that's all I wanted to clarify

>but because people only spent $20 on them, they excuse it
That's exactly how cost-benefit ratios work
>What's funny is these are the same people that endlessly bitch about Marvel Legends
People should criticise where criticism is due. Marvel Legends offers much less than an import and thus also less than CT figures do. MLs should be costing 15 bucks given how little they have to offer at times but some releases are truly great as well
>>
>>11691714
>So then we can agree that there is both great and poor QC for CT figures, that's all I wanted to clarify
Yes, I literally said as much when I talked about the three figures I do have from them. Not sure why you're trying to keep track of points here, but you can have this one I guess.

>People should criticise where criticism is due. Marvel Legends offers much less than an import and thus also less than CT figures do. MLs should be costing 15 bucks given how little they have to offer at times but some releases are truly great as well
Lmao, you are one of those people. Didn't even intend for that. I'm done replying to you, your opinions don't mean anything.
>>
>>11691699
>I mean post some pics so we can at least compare to my shitty CT Ben.
Like I said, I don't doubt it's worse. It's just about relative value. I'm not surprised that people find CT figures for under $30 a better buy than Medicom's that go for double or triple the price, is all. Especially if they're not that serious about toys and just want a Wolverine to fiddle with while watching Youtube videos about omelettes or whatever. Few things warrant heing an elitist over, and action figures are not among them. The ethics of it are another thing, though.
>>
>>11691743
>Especially if they're not that serious about toys and just want a Wolverine to fiddle with while watching Youtube videos about omelettes or whatever
If this is the case, they're not going to be searching around on Aliexpress for bootlegs of figures. They're going to go to Walmart and buy whatever is on the shelf, aka, a Marvel Legend. Or they'll just buy it off Amazon. You're overthinking things to try and justify CT.
>>
>>11691747
It's not 2010 anymore.
>>
>>11691753
If you think someone who normally doesn't buy toys is going to go to Aliexpress and buy some random bootleg from a sketchy sounding storefront then you're as dumb as you are stupid.
>>
>>11691747
There's not much to justify. It's cost relative to expected value. A lot of people--even collectors--are not that serious about toys. If I were to try to justify anything it's that Medicom's figures tend to be weak value propositions, but that's not the same as justifying a bootlegging outfit. It's a stronger argument for Jada, Storm, and INART that are legitimate companies with everything above board.

>>
>>11691908
>hysteria
Lol, you nitwits need to make up these imaginary scenarios in your head just to argue. All I'm saying is most normies who don't normally buy action figures, are going to go to Target and Walmart to buy whatever domestic figure is currently on the shelf, or look on Amazon. No one's searching Aliexpress for bootlegs of already niche figures unless they're already ingrained in the hobby. Stop being such a bunch of ninnies.
