Welcome to the Fashion Doll General!

A thread for discussion of fashion dolls including Barbie, Disney, LOL OMG, Rainbow High, Monster High, Licca-chan etc but not BJD. There is a BJD general over in /jp/.

Other toys considered dolls as well as girl collectable toys that are related to dolls or can be used as accessories to dolls are also welcome such as LOL, Shopkins, Polly Pocket and the like.

*Reminder to ignore trolling, bait and off topic posts instead of responding.*

If you're in Australia, Kmart has released these knockoff Monster High dolls

they have extremely flat faces like Rainbow Highs. No articulation

Cute. If I was an Aussie I'd get these to rebody them.

Oh shit I like these, hopefully some aussiebros put them on evilbay for the rest of the world
>>
Again but anyone else felling a monster high fatigue ? Both in g1 and g3. Already stopped carring about skullector when you can't even get them easily.
I'm waiting for moonspell to know if I dropping my collection, I'm tirred of being drop fed new characters plus there's no media to enjoy, I though they would go full webisode but they only did like 5 episode.
>>
I more have Bratz fatigue. I don't see the appeal of the line and can clearly see MGA favoring it over RH with the designs.

Shit sucks. Bratz have shit bodies with no articulation.

Are any plastic boots I find on the secondary market (e.g. FB Marketplace, EBAY, Mercari) or buy "new" from those Chinese sellers, that say they are 1/12 going to fit a Ken doll?

I'm essentially trying to make a custom "Ken" (with an actor's face) similar to the I'm Just Ken of Gosling with the fur coat that they made for the movie, but for a totally unrelated different thing.

And PICREL looks like it's meant to be a background crap, not something a figure actually wears?

Ken and Barbie are 1/6. 1/12 is like GI-Joe.
Male dolls should always look at any 1/6 military doll toy stuff because it's well made. (12" army action figures)

Sorry, my bad - I did mean 12" - not 1/12.

It IS for a Ken doll, I've had a beach boy type Ken so he had a tan, for a bit, and already have the head swap done. I will need to do some touch up painting on the skin tones, but no point in doing that if I can't complete the clothes.

I'll need to do some sewing, but that I can manage on my own.

Boots I need to buy. Think something like the classic Captain Action Red Boots, but plain - not like PICREL.

Why doesn't Mattel turn the fang vote options that didn’t win into a fashion pack?

It seems like every year a segment of fans hoping for a particular combination on fang vote dolls, and when their options don't win they skip the doll entirely.

Since voting is split into 2 rounds, I get the hunch that those who are disappointed by winning options revealed after the 1st round of voting, might retaliate in the 2nd round by voting for the unpopular option (based on what gets hyped up online). I heard there was a bug in the voting system that allows a single player to vote on their option multiple times by simply refreshing the page.

I'm continuously surprised G3 has still not been canceled. Every new wave shelf-sits forever. I work with young kids and absolutely none of them even know what MH is. Meanwhile G1 re-releases or skullectors sell out super quickly. Just bring back G1 fully.

Playline KDH dolls have been revealed. Not bad considering it's Mattel, but still too many plastic accessories. I demand the rest of the Saja Boys.
>>
>make doll of an obese person
>refuse to make a new bigger body type
>just put it in super baggy clothes and hope no one can tell the difference
I wonder if the real life lady is offended.
>>
>>11690301
i don't get it. mattel made a fat bodytype for g3 catty noir, why not make one for barbie that's bigger than the curvy bodytype?
>>
>>11690264
G3 with G1 clothes designs.

The body designs for g3 are better. People forget that g1 had:

Same body for all characters
Too skinny
Fragile whrist pegs
Legs are held on with elastic band.

>don't get it. mattel made a fat bodytype for g3 catty noir, why not make one for barbie that's bigger than the curvy bodytype?

Because no one will buy it.
>>
>>11690344
i like how the g1 legs can move upwards more but i like how much sturdier the g3s feel, and the chest articulation too

Opal Lee is not obese, and she does wear baggy clothes irl. The doll is accurate
>>
>>11691085
that woman is literally overweight
>>
>>11690301
I doubt granny cares that much, probably just thinks it’s neat.
>>
>>11691277
that woman is 99 fucking years old, they just look like that
>>
>>11692385
You've been around fat people for so long you don't even know what an elderly person at a proper weight looks like
>>
>>11692396
overweight people don't live to 99
>>
>>11692398
Protip genetics basically rules everything, this is why we have fat people languishing for insanely long periods of time. That doesn't make her not fucking fat
>>
>>11692399
okay, list some more fat 99 year olds
>>
>>11691277
But not obese. Pretty similar to the Curvy Barbie actually. I'm more pissed that Mattel just painted wrinkles onto a standard face mold instead of using an archival old face mold from Barbie's grandma or something. The painted lines look like ass.

This is likely the wrong thread to ask this, but does anyone know what metal bendable wire is used under capes to make the cape poseable?
>>
>>11699974
