What are your thoughts on it? Do you prefer the 2.5 in, 4 in, or movie lines or do you prefer to combine them? What does your collection look like so far? Do you have a limit on what characters you're collecting (i.e. if you're bothering with all the Koopalings/minions)? Hopes/fears/expectations for 2026?

I have these guys. They're pretty good, but I don't see myself going further.

Got those three in addition to movie Bowser. At the very least, I'd like to add
>Peach
>Yoshi
>Toad
>Wario
Don't plan on the minions because I fear that will be plunging down a rabbit hole, not all that into the Koopalings, and clutter is a concern so I'm careful of what I'm adding to my home. Characters like Daisy, Birdo, Waluigi, etc.? We'll see in the future but I'm just going for who I believe are the faces of the franchise.

>Hopes
-Less anthropomorphic Yoshi that at least resembles his MKW design
-Another reissue of Wario
-Chargin Chuck
>Fears
-Yoshi still keeps his Story design
-More Mario/Luigi palette swaps
-More minions
>Expectations
-Inevitable nu-Donkey Kong figures
-Bananza figures like the animal transformations and Void Co
-Aside from the above, little to nothing because it would be so like Nintendo to want to quietly kill the line to remove competition for their shitty, overpriced amiibos

Is the 2.5 line still going? My kid is starting to get into Mario after watching the movie for the first time. We went to Walmart and the only toys they had were the 4 inch ones. She specifically wanted a Peach and Mario, so I wound up ordering those off BBTS in the 2.5 scale since the Peach scaled better with her Disney Princess figures and I had some stuff in my PoL to ship anyway.

how are you asking this, replying to an image of it answering your question? that yes in fact they are still doing them...
are you fucking retarded? or using some kind of braille computer, even that doesn't make sense, because that image came with no text? did someone tell you there was an image of the figure there without describing it to your blind disabled ass?

>>11692266
It is, but not that many new figures recently. I think the latest were the Babies (Baby Mario, Peach, Luigi, and now Daisy). They also have been slowly sprinkling in updated versions of characters, like a slightly more articulated Goomba.

Is there anyone else who initially wanted to simply collect the main characters but are now being tempted to take a plunge down the rabbit hole that is including every secondary character and generic minion? I only intended to be happy with Bowser alone but now I have the urge to get the Goomba and Koopa Troopa that are on clearance right now at Gamestop. Once I take that step, the floodgates are open and then I'll probably need to get every goddamn member of Bowser's army.

Hmm okay, thanks. That's a bit disappointing, I was hoping some stuff from the new movie would be coming. I'm trying to find a Bowser for the scale but it looks like he only came with a castle, or at least that's all I'm seeing on Amazon. I just bought this bundle for $25, seemed like a decent deal. The Mario looks like it has better articulation than the other one that is basically a statue. Is there a Luigi that's equivalent? Most of them seem to just be straight statues or can only move the arms.

Basically Mario Galaxy is a game where Mario goes to space but the difference between the "mario space" and "normal Mario shit" is just that the stages are often set on spherical landmasses with a neat "magnetical" gravity gimmick to the way you interact with them.
So basically in a Mario Galaxy toyline you aren't really going to be seeing "aliens" because the world of Mario is so weird that you would not notice the difference between a normal Mario enemy and a "space-faring" Mario enemy anyway.

Sure, but they're a minority of the enemy designs in the game. Most other stuff is "cartoon crab" or "cartoon mole" or "chain chomp, but it's spinning around instead of on a chain" and various other assholes you'd be able to find in any previous game.
>>11695718
That's a nice edit but I think that person is forgetting that Rosalina is a zoomed on picture of a 5 inch toy. Making the paint apps so tiny and the lip color so light will make it look bland in-hand.

This is what I'm aiming for and if I were to quit, I'd be content. Will be collecting other non-Mario toys so the more storage space available the better.

I have multiples (2 each minimum) of minions. You can afford even 1 each and it wont hurt, even if you keep them in storage most of the time. Also when you decide to get the Bros and Yoshi, get the SHF's. Also there is no good DK toy yet after all these years. The big one is posably loose, then the 4" is better but it's 4"

>I have multiples (2 each minimum) of minions. You can afford even 1 each and it wont hurt, even if you keep them in storage most of the time.
No, man. You don't get it. Hoarding runs in my family and I'm hyper vigilant on what things I'm adding to my home as even the seemingly innocuous little things add up. I can honestly live without the minions as I have sort of "theme" in my head and don't have a great desire to have them unlike the main characters.
>Also when you decide to get the Bros and Yoshi, get the SHF's.
Thank you for the suggestion but it's too late as I already have the Jakk's Pacific of the bros. You could say they're of lesser quality/articulation but I'm happy with them and they look fine in-person. Yoshi on the other hand, I'm waiting to see if I like the Galaxy movie figure and if not, I'll take my chances hoping that pic related gets made as an updated figure.
>Also there is no good DK toy yet after all these years. The big one is posably loose, then the 4" is better but it's 4"
If you're referring to the Jakk's 6 in figure seen here >>11691638, I have it and think it's awesome. No falling over, has cool posing options, scales well with my other figures, and he's likely going to be the final depiction of Rare DK in toy form as you just know any subsequent releases will be of nu-DK.

Well I don't collect the 2.5s because they're just too small.
The standard 4s are a mixed bag. I wish the quality was a little better. The build is alright but they have trouble coloring some stuff, like they'll miss parts of Mario's sideburns or smear finer details on the princesses. They have to be SHF level but probably another $5 would do it, though I hate to say that because of how other lines raise the price to buy improvements that inevitably fade out in time. So I have a handful but nowhere near as many as somebody who was pumped about Super Mario 3 back in 1990 should have by now.
The movie stuff was much more consistent (seemed like the +$5 worked) but had its own issues. Mostly they had weird eyes/textures and a strange selected accessory. It was like they didn't have the budget for one good one or two meh ones but had to include _something_ to make $20 palatable. I did buy all of them though and was disappointed that we didn't get a third wave.
I sort of hope maybe the SHF reissues do well enough to maybe spur them to make a Princess Toadstool or Daisy to round out the set but that's probably wishful thinking.

Huh. I always wondered where that meme came from. I never bought SMB2 on the NES so I don't have the original manual to check. But I thought the pink was a dead giveaway that it was supposed to be a girl. The people at DiC who wrote the Super Show clearly thought so too.

Mainly two reasons.
A) Suits are generally not only out of touch but stupid and held back by bias/emotions. Yes, it makes the most sense. Yes, there's plenty of material to make a Marvel-length catalogue of Mario movies alone. Yes, it's consistent with their newfound goal of venturing into other areas besides video games. And yes, they would not only make gangbusters but also serve as extra advertisements for their games and be a way to introduce younger generations to their catalogue. However, all that doesn't mean much if there's a handful of powerful people who don't want to adapt games where Mario is indisputably the competent hero who doesn't have to play second fiddle to a girlboss like Rosalina or, should Odyssey get a movie adaptation, Pauline.
B) And even IF they did want to adapt those games into movies, they ultimately won't be able to do so because they lack the heart and talent to put a faithful but also fresh new spin on these classic adventures so it's easier to fall back on blowing their load on a "grand" sequel with no coherent vision that coasts on the title of galaxy, the nostalgia of the Odyssey npcs and the 8-bits, and copy and paste opportunities to insert millennial humor/tropes like girlboss Rosalina and the "So this dinosaur just comes along and he's part of the group. Okay, I guess we're doing this" joke.

Is that the depressed Luma from the first movie? don't care for any of the figures including Luigi but i'll get him just for Lumalee.
Can't believe the only figure officially released during the first movie of lumalee was the awful McDonalds one.

This has to be a case where they are told to hold back. Really if you look at the movie line and the regular line it seems like they don’t have much say of what they can and can’t release. Given all the palette swaps in Mario you think they’d all be in rotation mobs and main cast alike but there’s still no pink shy guy etc.
>>
>>
>>11702868
On some level, Nintendo must not want the Jakk's figures to serve as a cheaper alternative to their shitty overpriced amiibos so only the bare minimum is what we can expect from Jakk's. Really fucking hope that's not entirely the case but you can't deny that plays a factor.
>>
>>
>>11703091
I think it may be Nintendo too. There's no reason they can't pump out more figures like they do. Funnily enough I noticed it even worse for other companies, even Japanese companies. Like there is nothing stopping Bandai or Tomy from getting a license and pumping out a crap ton of Mario stuff. Is it because of that idea of the bad guys not selling as well in Japan, so they project that to the other markets too, impacting Jakks? Or maybe they don't want to dilute the brand or something by pumping out too much? It looks like Japan gets a different release than we do, like they get a much more limited selection of figures as far as I can tell. I don't know why that is or who is making that decision. It leads me to believe Nintendo is restricting things for whatever reason. I also have a bias against modern Nintendo, so that may be my bias speaking for me too.

The thing that would make this 5" Yoshi figure the definitive Yoshi figure would be if it has neck articulation. More specifically, letting you lean the head back a bit so that you can let him both stand upright and make him look bestial so that virtually everyone can be happy.
Well, that and the fact that it would look less awkward if kids wanted to have the other characters ride on him during playtime since he'd be staring straight down to the ground otherwise.

Whats going on with the movie line?
