Got my replacement item for my fucked up Rachel Summers. Guess I'm just gonna have to order another one and hope for the best.

What they mean by "equal value" is a toy from the same toyline. IE, if you call in a replacement for a Marvel Legends, they're not going to send you something from the kids line. This isn't really that hard to comprehend, not sure why you're overthinking it.
>>
>>11697063
>"Well ACKSHUALLY what they mean in legalese is..."
Why defend corporate malfeasance? Don't you know that is what allows it to continue? We all know it's immoral. He should get a replacement of the exact same figure or a refund. Not some shitty peg warmer that no one bought.
>>

>>11697073
>Pointing out what they mean by something means I am defending it
This isn't an argument. I'm not defending it, I'm just pointing out what they're doing. Goddamn, do I need to sperg out and get mad at my explanation in the same post? Fuck.
>>11697078
I don't disagree with you in the slightest. It absolutely sucks. I've been in that situation where I got a lemon and they couldn't replace it so I got something else instead. It sucks, but I either ended up fixing the figure, or finding a replacement via other means. The other figure they gave me just ended up being a bonus that I used to for parts or something. At least they let you keep your existing Rachel. One thing you could do, you could rebuy her off Amazon, swap the new one out with your bad one, and then return it. I had to do a return with Amazon recently and they even had "paint scratches/issues" as an option for returning the figure I got. It was easy. Sure, it's a little scummy, but fuck Jeff Bezos, and at least you'll get a fixed Rachel. Or, you could just paint the spikes yourself, it really only looks like a few minutes worth of work with a chrome pen.

Just do that and then rebuy it from Amazon or something. Really not that big of a deal. I doubt you'll get another one that's mispainted. Not sure why >>11697104 is spazzing out when it isn't even happening to him.
>>
>>11697108
>accept our benevolent corporate overlords and their half-measures to appease the little people or you are an angry gremlin
You're still doing it. Maybe we'd all have unqualified rights to refunds on damaged and defective products if you actually advocated for your own rights as a customer rather putting down anyone who dares to.
>>

>>11697121
Sorry that I'm being realistic and not throwing a temper tantrum about a complete stranger having to return a toy. You're acting like a child. Stop it. This isn't even your toy.

>Maybe we'd all have unqualified rights to refunds on damaged and defective products if you actually advocated for your own rights as a customer rather putting down anyone who dares to.
Also, I had to reply to this because it's so incredibly overblown and untrue. Nothing is stopping anon from returning his figure to Walmart and getting a refund. In fact, he just said that's exactly what he's going to do. In the end, he'll rebuy Rachel somewhere and then have an extra free figure.
>>11697121
Why are you ignoring the part where anon said he's going to return the figure and get his money back?
>>11697132
Anon, you're making up weird scenarios in your own head that have nothing to do with you, just so you can get upset. Stop it.

I think toy collecting isn't really a great hobby for someone mentally.
It causes stress. Companies basically have you on their strings all the time. At any time they can drop a figure you really want but make it a Target exclusive or an SDCC exclusive with 3000 units produced and you'll never get it or you'll have to pay a ton to.
It causes people to lose focus on the here and now. It's a hobby that leads to people trying to get dopamine hits off nostalgia. Nostalgia isn't a good thing, as much as people lionize it. It's a sad thing, it is an indicator your life in the past was better than it is today. Someone who had a worse past but a happy today would want to forget the past. Someone who wants to feel what they felt in the past again has an empty today.
>>
>>11697164
Also why do you guys over think and over dramatize everything all the time? It's just buying toys. I can't say, in the decade and half I've been at it, that it's caused me severe stress. Maybe it's because I have real world problems that I make this toy stuff no big deal.
>>
>>11697177
Believe it or not, with certain personality types, when you work at a shitty job, and are dealt a shitty lot in life, you are even more likely to freak out over the small things like not being able to find a specific toy or having to overpay for it because stress is cumulative and that is the natural learned reaction certain personality types have developed to stress.

Brother, in the past year alone I've had to deal with death, personal health issues, familial health issues, the stress of buying a home, rennovations that come with said home, oh, and as a fucking week ago, divorce. Something as piddly as having to pay an extra $3 for an action figure or having to exchange a figure because I got bad paint apps, is literally nothing to me. Nothing more than a slight inconvience. I think you guys need to take a step back and think about the bigger picture and stop throwing literal temper tantrums because you got a toy with a QC issue.
I had a figure with a QC issue like a week or two ago. You know what I did? I returned it and rebought it somewhere else. It literally cost me 10 minutes out of my drive home from work. Like I said, a lot of you guys like to make up weird scenarios or go out of your way to try and find stuff that will upset you. That's not healthy.

I hate everything. But it is what it is I guess. The icing on my day is I gave myself a 3rd degree burn on my hand earlier, so that's fun.
In more positive toy related news, I got Nimrod in my PoL with BBTS, so he's hitting now to those who wanted him. Just kinda hoping for something good from Toy Fair, maybe a Maximum Thor in the Coipel costume? Maybe a new comic GotG? X-Men 97 Beast perhaps? I could hope.
>>
>>11697425
You could look at the rumor lists, but then rumors can be disappointing if they don't turn out to be true.
I assume the only reason they have delayed on a '97 Beast is just that he had a Beast figure that's a similar design release not too long ago. Maybe they're just waiting until that gets out of recent memory so enough people will want to buy a new one.

I appreciate the perspective check posts. I keep agonizing over missing out on the new big Apocalypse preorders (didn't know I wanted get in on on X-Men stuff a few months ago), but I really shouldn't be. I have the retro carded version, it's not like there's going to be a glaring absence in my villains if I don't get one. As you said, toy problems shouldn't be treated like real problems. Toys are supposed to be fun or at least help us cope with our larger issues. Also, hope the new Nimrod is good, I was thinking about picking him up too.

>>
>>11697726
I was able to get a Sentinel without preordering, so I hoped I'd be able to do the same with Apocalypse, but that does make me feel better about my chances thanks. He's definitely an extravagance, but like with the Sentinels, there is just something very appealing about an in scale toy that an entire team of figures can fight at once.
>>11697738
The new Gambit was kind of tempting me, but looking at the AoA figures both a few years ago and now, it's easy to see why they're still shelfwarming. 90s shit normally gets me really easy, but they all look like such garbage aside from AoA Apocalypse.

Stopped by my local Target today hoping I might luck into the Psylocke & Thanos 2 pack. I've never found anything good in the few occasions I've dropped by in recent years, but this was the first time I didn't find a single Marvel Legends. Was pretty odd.
>>
>>11696997
Was it the Rachel with the non painted spikes?
I like that AoA Rogue figure, I picked mine up at Target when it came out 4 years ago? I saw some at Ollie’s.
I was sent a replacement for my Anti-Venom because he had a hole in the back of his head and Hasbro sent me a Ben Scarlet Spider.

You can tell from the Target website which tracks in store sales that there are no more left. It's been at "900+ sold in the past month" for nearly a month and once that month passes it will likely revert to not showing anything.
>>
>>11698492
those were apparently only at targets that had disney in-store 'boutiques' - and those are few and far between and the scalpers know this shit and mostly cleared them out
all i have seen besides the re-issue of steve, pete and tony are that purple x-chick owl and maybe 1-2 random other things and only 30-45% of the time since at least christmas
>>
>>11698262
Yeah, it's not a big deal either way. The only thing that would have really made me feel like I was missing out is not getting Sentinel, but I was able to grab one and I'm pretty happy with it after the unboxing.
I've been going back and forth the last few weeks about what kind of figures I want to collect. While I've been tempted to grab figures like Secret Wars Ice Man and the Astonishing Colossus so I can do the Jim Lee team with the 97 figures if I feel like it, I've decided I'm just gonna stick with XTAS/97 inspired stuff for now, though I'll probably make an exception for some of the MvC gamerverse figs. Gamerverse Juggernaut and Omega Red have basically the same designs they did in XTAS, so they fit right with the other 90s X-Villains.

I know it's going to be their Doomsday looks but I can kinda hope for the old black leather, can't I? I'd grab at least Scott and Logan in the old 2000s costumes.

That really stinks anon.
I dont come to these threads anymore because there is so much whining, trolling, and arguing. And when someone does talk about toys it usually leads to people trying to argue with them. Not worth engaging with these people.
That said, I think the price of the figures and overall economy has led to people to be more picky about QC. If you buy a $30 figure (which imo is over priced), then you should expect little to no QC issues. If you buy a $5 figure, then yeah QC issues should be expected every so often. The price of everything has got out of hand, so when you go to buy something for your hobby and it has a flaw, then that flaw gets exaggerated in your mind. At least that is my understanding. I personally havent experienced too many issues with Marvel Legends figures recently, but I really dont buy them regularly anymore either. I am pretty happy with what I got in the past two or three years. There was a time around or before COVID when I noticed an uptake in QC issues but that could have just been bad luck on my end.

>>11699742
I still post my toys in this thread. Even if spergs try to pick fights and whine about how a knee isn't bent a half a degree further or some gay little nitpick like that. I won't lie. This place has gotten pretty insufferable the past few years. I tried other sites out during the outage last year but everything else was just shit. Shit layout shit discussion shit people. So even though this place is inarguably awful, there's not really a better alternative. It would be nice if some alt chans had a /toy/ board but they don't.
