It's not really accurate to any of them because of the loose shoulders. NG 2 comes closest, the one above the "I will get my revenge" pic.

AY really should've pitched all these variant Spider-Men to Marvel. Such minor modifications to the 2.0 body would've seen a bunch of easy money. But it all goes to China instead.

The figure is 10/10 obviously. Joints are perfect, nice matte finish to the plastic. Hoodie works well.

If Kaiyodo thinks there is money there they would simply do it and Marvel won't say no (unless they make something completely off). And sculpting time might be shorter but the production would still be near full cost no matter what they release that's about the same parts count and paint. They don't reuse molds not counting the joints. For the same cost they don't want to flood the line with slight variants. You see that with something like the veiny body of symbiote suit.

She's quite the small character, so I'd be a bit dubious of how they pull her off, either way. I guess the closest comparison would be to those girls with the guns. I don't really care who sculpts her, as long as they do a nice job of it, which, some of the recent Revoltech, have been a bit... less than stellar. I also do think her scaling to the other characters is important too. She seems such an obvious pick as one of the more popular characters in the series, so who knows what the holdup is. Puri as the 4th was already pretty crazy. I do also hope we get to Blast at some point, or who knows if they're limiting releases to the anime or not.

Yeah it's strange what Yamaguchi gets caught up on sometimes. And it's definitely a Yamaguchi thing since Garou and Symbiote Spidey are his sculpts. Meanwhile the spike knees are fixed by what Sakamoto did for the Jaw Titan and yet not reflected on any subsequent AY. For the crotch I guess what the Female Titan was doing is one way but that changes the angles of ball joints and probably thigh cuts as well. I think because they care about that seamless look for the lower half of body they don't mind keeping it the same and sacrificing some inward range of motion there.

Huh Bandai is releasing EZY ver Ingram as well. I'm surprised they have so much fate in something that took so long to be made and is almost identical to original ver. They could just reissue the old RD and I think they get about the same profits.
I get why Kaiyodo did theirs, they have no modern Patlabor stuff and just revived making mecha action figures. RD doesn't have moving panels on the shoulder armor like the Revoltech so I hope getting the Revo turns out well for me. Don't care enough to get both, but hope Bandai could make some other Labor from EZY.

I think the face plate detaches from the bottom to access the eyes (maybe there is a maskless face? bonus??) thus you have those "sideburns". But good news is if you heat up the PVC and hold them closer with no face, when you put the face back in it should stay touching, no gaps and look slightly better.

Covid lockdowns didn't mesh well with their museums, exhibits, factory experience, those kind of things that they happen to expand just before lol. And WF of course but not sure how much revenue that generates though.

They also started making model kits so that can't be a cheap startup. It's not that people weren't buying Revoltechs, but Kaiyodo wasn't making much Revoltechs. You notice now how there are so many in the listing of upcoming releases? it was like a dozen or so before. They hired more sculptors and are making more, that surely adds up a little.

But more importantly, they expanded business to China.

They're just my observation but I think they're not that far off.

I also get the impression that a large chunk of Marvel/DC collectors in the West really want something fairly simple and with minimal cuts, there's a lot of older Revoltech reviews on YT where a lot of reviewers gave them a negative or lukewarm review, because they just can't deal with their looks or really understand how the joints work.
Whereas now, Revoltech made the first AoT Titan action figures (there was an articulated Eren model kit from Kotobukiya before), there was only ever one other Ryu Hayabusa action figure before the Revoltech and it was an old one from Neca, and there were only 2 other Saitama figures before the Revoltech but Revoltech is also doing a bunch of other OPM characters never done before

I'm not so sure about that playing that much of a change compared to a simple fact of doing more is just better in general. There were multiple Marvel AY that had more than one reissues like DP, Sipder-Man, Venom and Carnage. So it's not like they weren't selling. Except for a few like Gwen in early days, Optimus, they didn't seem to be doing bargain bin horrible overall. And you forget My Hero Academia AY started not that late it was No.18 in 2020. There were Evangelions too although they were running out of things to do...

For a while it was about 3 sculptors doing like 10 Revos a year and 7 of them by Yamaguchi. And old CEO said action figures barely break even now so doing that few don't generate much revenue. Western market was never that important anyways doing American Comics wasn't a targeted move towards the West. It was just a new thing for Japan, Kaiyodo trying something different like always.

It's more of a goal now when they barley do comics AY.

It's great. I forget where it went but nothing felt fragile but it takes up space since the backpack is one solid piece, and the rods on the nuclear reactor don't detach.

One real downside is the head is so small the PVC and paint can't hold all the detail making it look dull.

Really? All the other NG revos weren't and the only IP lately to be different was Marvel (and MHA until it stopped). Not sure what makes the difference but I think all the newly dealt contracts have a different distribution rules than before, OR they judge based on sale numbers. Marvel seem to be bigger or reliable compared to all the new ones they're doing. Some are real niche so that makes sense, and maybe DC has low numbers which also makes sense kek.
But NG suddenly getting to that level? Hmm not sure this stylized ver of original Ryu, third one they're releasing, has such high expectation. But maybe they sold well enough to get bumped up? I'm not so sure about Kaiyodo revisiting Hokuto Revoltechs. They seem more interested in cherry picking a few characters per franchise, with a few powerhouses getting a bigger cast. That's OPM and AoT for now. Recent big hits. I see MGS being a long running series too since they can do a few per game, more so than NG. And those have little competition. With HnK it's really all or nothing, and that is a big investment. I'm not sure they want to do it offering little difference to Medicos' attempts.
There are also the statues they seem to be satisfied with those for Hokuto no Ken. They love all that detailing and finish (if it's completed model) and most Revoltechs especially AY tend to avoid complicated paint apps. Some have random blings, and then there are all the effect pieces requirements they won't avoid. It can add up to most being over 10,000JPY releases and how many characters do you really want at those prices? I feel like they rather do a few other IPs with 2~3 characters instead.

Unless they say fuck it and only do Kenshiro Raoh and Rei.

I worded it that way only because of the Revol Mini Venom Snakes. There was the sneaking suit Vulcanlog first then the Mini which got a different skin (and repaint).

I expect them to move on to other games in a Ninja Gaiden release style but if the initial three do well they might do a second "run" and make Eva and an alternate Snake. I think it's one way or the other, and highly doubt this is all they plan to do with MGS.

I have it I know it is all ABS plastic. And I'm pretty sure it was all glued together however many pieces made up the frontal head. I wouldn't bother disassembling. I think the only way to go is to cut off at the yellow, straiten the cross section and glue it back on. If it gets too short do the straight side too kek.

Yeah there are few tricks they chose not to do this time. GL and a few robots Revo had the hinged panel and it was very simple too, not that it made a drastic difference but beats having a gaping space behind the leg.

Even recently Juri has hinged covers behind the knee joints. This is something I'm noticing more and more with Revoltechs today. There seems to be zero interaction between sculptors. Some engineering choices are ignored even though they are appropriate for the sculpt. It's like they each try to reinvent the wheel anytime there's some issue to be handled. It wasn't that noticeable back when all they had were a few revolver joints to work with. YGO line was the worst but they eventually took notice and changed some aspects, like having ball jointed hips.
