It seems like loose joints are a widespread problem for this figure. I don't have their 91 Goji so I don't know if that was an issue with him, but other than the hand popping off on their G14 figure, I haven't had any real issues with looseness in their Monsterverse Godzillas.
>>11719937
I prefer that freaky cat thing over the bland Unit 01 with a tail and Godzilla spines. Neither are very good, but at least the Unit 02 looks interesting.

what do you mean? They are painted. They're the wrong color, but they are painted. The paint on the tail spikes cuts off at about the same point as it did on the suit.

I just ordered the HIYA Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, both the mecha and the 'zilla since I know they'd go together.
Don't own any 'zillas currently so hope they're good. I should have really asked for advice but impulse purchased because of how cool the Mechagodzilla looked.

Another threezero goji review. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-Z-rH8EFlI They uses silicon instead of rubber so it should hold up. The tail also has joints inside. Thought it was bandy or something. Articulation seems pretty good all around. Wonder if we'll get a Mecha G to go with him. Closet thing to his scale is the Dx Chogokin. Which is way over priced.

They are basically the same size, and that's the problem. The Hiya is in a larger scale than the SHMA. That's "mostly" fine when you put her with since the Hiya Evolved Godzilla since it's also too small, but it's not good when you pose her with the Hiya Kong or the upcoming Hiya Skar King. The Hiya Shimo is fine if you are posing her with SHMA figures, but not with most figures from her own line.
>>
>>11723039
It's both. The body isnt accurate and the head sculpt is ass.
>>11723367
The Hiya line is supposed to be 7-inch scale. It being slightly smaller than a 6-inch scale version of the same figure is bad.

I'd like a beam at least for every era and Showa hasn't gotten a beam since 2018 with Godzilla 62, so it would be nice to get one. That being said, in general, I agree, alternate hands like the ones that 74 is coming with, buildings, or even an alternate head like 72 came with are preferred to beam recycling.
>>11726694
so that you can move them around when you're posing him. His spines in the movie jostled around a lot, so they decided to replicate it in the figure. The 72 has one spine on a weird hinge joint that can move forward and back, but I guess Sakai or whoever does the articulation decided that wasn't enough, and that the main spines needed to all be on ball joints.

they did that other one based on the All monsters attack suit, but the sculpture was too much soft for my liking and the paintjob didn't do it too much for me. Scale-wise this is the only Minilla figure that looks good with the rest of my set and repainting the eyes wouldn't look much better because it's a little off-model too. I love my broken, empty child.

Problem about Heisei King Ghidorah as a whole is no one actually knows what the actual suit color was. Some say it was bright gold, others say it was a darker gold, and then there's bronze gold. Think it's probably due to Godzilla vs King Ghidorah film quality differs with each release with some having filters, and some being poor quality. For this case, think Hiya based this new figures color on the recently shown prop heads at that one expo shown here (yeah they're basically completely rotted away.) which are more darker gold and possibly due to them being 35 years old and faded. Only thing I like about this new figure is the wings being more detailed than the original in paint while the older figure looks a bit too rubbery.
>>
>>
>>
>>11728915
Yeah idk. I always thought he was of the darker gold variety rather than the bright gold one would see from say Showa or GMK. Is why I never picked up the MMS 2.0 versions of both it and Mecha King Ghidorah and have the 2001 versions of both.

I don't collect toys, all I know is that I assume the some of the Bandai and other higher end models have great articulation but you pay for that.
I checked and see that the 8 inch Reaction retailed for $55 and you can get it as cheap as $44, so would asking $30 for this, "pre-owned" in that it's never been taken out of the factory box but you are just buying the Godzilla from the McFarlane two pack, a fair price for either B/S/T or eBay?
I'm not looking to make a profit, I just want to unload it for a fair price to other collectors but I want to make back some of what I paid. These sold for $79 which isn't what I paid, but after postage and taxes, it's very close, so $30 I'd be happy enough with, maybe $35 on that site given that eBay will collect fees from me.
Any realistic, constructive advice would be appreciated.

Hiya figures were always artifically low. This was made obvious with the first Shimo costing 60 bucks and the second costing 90. They had to stop using government subsidized factories so that they could get figures out on time. International retailers book shipments months in advance so Hiya delaying figures by six months to a fucking year was losing them money and pissing them off. All chinese factories are subsidized but there are some that service Chinese companies and brands which are much more heavily subsidized by the government and because of that have enormous waitlists which result in heavy delays. You can either have cheap figures or you can havecon time figures, but you cant have both.

They sent me a non RIC version knowingly so I called them out. They gave me the non RIC version they sent for free. I ended up having 2 of them as I ordered a actual RIC one from Mandarake for 400. Sold the 2 regular versions for 500 so got him for free.
make sure it has a big yellow sticker and is listed as a RIC version EXCLUSIVE. If not they are selling the regular non light up version.
I attached the pic of what any light up version will look like with the sticker. Again if it does NOT have that sticker it does not light up. Sorry about the long post but I don't want other people to get scammed like they tried to scam me.

Um yes? The SHMA MV Ghidorah is not movie accurate at all and has two wings that are basically just giant fragile dinner plates. And the Heisei Ghidorah figure breaks the moment you just move its win a single degree, and also inaccurate. It's tough because the figure has some glaring issues with articulation and that really make it difficult to whole heartedly recommend at that price, but the sculpted detail is really great. If you only want/need one Destroyah figure, I'd probably wait for the Hiya, even though I hate the idea of bendy wire wings. I really love Destroyah so I think it's worth the $200 and look forward to posing it with the Hiya when I get that one too.

Fair enough, as expected from SH quality, I'll possibly just wait for Hiya's variant since after a few SH Monsterarts experiences lately, my mind has been cautious with them.

super7 could easily carve out a small niche doing the more obscure stuff like this but nah fuck it, "i cant belive its not hiya" and "what if godzilla was kenner starswar"

Instant hard pass. Do they also still use that soft plastic? I got their earlier mv figures and I hate how they feel, like it'll rip or erode or something so I treat them like statues for the most part.

I will say, after taking him apart and lubing up his joints he actually moves pretty well. Knees still have no range because of how chunky he is, but his torso arms and wings are moving a lot better.
>>11742428
They are still using the soft plastic, though Godzilla 1999 is a little harder than any of the Monsterverse Godzillas. Scylla is pretty bad though

Amazingly not, actually. Back in the '60s there used to be a Reptilicus comic in Europe. The publishers eventually lost the rights to Reptilicus, but had the brilliant idea to continue the comic by reworking the character into their own OC, Reptisaurus. Based off of >>11744421 it looks like you can swap parts out so the figure can be either Reptilicus or Reptisaurus, which is a fun touch.
>>
Lately I've given up on Godzilla figures. I feel like no matter what they do, because the figures are so chunky and the monsters are not typically acrobatic or highly movable in movies anyway, there is so limited a set of poses that 'work' for them I wonder why buy a highly articulated version rather than just a statue

New Aztec Ghidorah colors

Sure
Firstly, the skulls on his knees are probably meant to evoke the Tzitzimime (a group of lesser goddesses or "demons" associated with stars that would end the world if the New Fire ceremony wasn't preformed every 52 years) and other feminine deities with destructive traits, since they are often depicted with mouths or eyes on their joints. You'll notice that the Aztec Godzilla also has mouths on his joints too for the same reference (though sadly that's one of the only meaningful iconographic details the Godzilla Vinyl has, Ghidorah has way more, as explained below), which makes sense since both are destructive monsters
Next, and tying into that, are his wings: The inside portion of the wings are rendered like how butterfly wings are in Aztec and Mixtec artwork. This is actually another reference to the Tzitzimime, as some major deities were considered Tzitzimitl (the singular term) too, namely the war goddess Itzpapalotl was the "queen" of the Tzitzimime, and she was particularly associated with butterflies (which also had other ties to soldiers/war) and predatory birds
Next, we need to talk about Xiuhcoatl: Xiuhcoatl ("Turquoise serpent", but often called fire serpents because...) like their namesake the color/mineral turquoise were associated with fire and lightning (again, fitting for Ghidorah) primarily, but the "xiuh-/xihuitl" in their names can also be read as "year", or herb, grass, or reed (I forget which, maybe all 3) or as meteor/comet, which ties into Ghidorah's extraterrestrial origin. Xiuhcoatl are often depicted as serpents, but sometimes they're depicted as monstrous caterpillars or with butterfly attributes, tying back into the wings, and there's also symbolic connections between catapillars/pupae and comets, grasses, etc
You can see a collage of some elements of Xiuhcoatl symbolism in pic related, though it's missing elaboration on the year thing (which I'll get into in my next post) and the catapillars

cont:
The Xiuhcoatl elements on Aztec Ghidroah are both implicit, due to it emitting lightning and being serpentlike and with butterfly wings, but it's also explicit when you look at his tailtips in pic related. As you can see when compared to the tailtips in >>11748018, they're a very close fit, with the "tassels" acting as the reed glyph built into the tail, just with a large knife/tecpatl replacing the fire drill. You can also see rattlesnake tail segments, which Xiuhcoatl generally have (though often presented as trapezoidal segments, which combined with the triangular tailtip make a "trapeze-ray" sign representing sunrays and also that resembles the sign for "year", again, tying back to the linguistic connection with Xihuitl and solar/fire associations), and a set of curved triangular arrowpoints, which are representations of sunrays like in the trapeze-ray motifs I just described
One last Xiuhocatl thing: I'm not sure this is totally intentional, but the color scheme on the Planet X variant, the red, gold, and turquoise, also matches the colors seen of Yahui in the Codex Zouche Nuttal as seen here: https://arqueologiamexicana.mx/sites/default/files/manuelhermannlejara zu25_am185_ii.jpg?itok=0E5NVnOG, Yahui being the Zapotec and Mixtec equivalent to Central Mexican/Aztec Xiuhcoatll., a
Regarding the knife in the tail, knives were obviously associated with death, harm, or war, so again that fits with Ghidorah though Godzilla also had some in his Vinyl. You'll notice there's also knives lining Aztec Ghidroah's wings which was another trait of Itzpapalotl's, with her name litterally meaning obsidian/flint butterfly, and more broadly the feathers of predatory birds are sometimes drawn like flint knives.
Whoops ran out of space again

Finally, Ghidorah has earrings shaped like shields/chimalli, with a step fret design in the middle (the spiral/meander pattern seen in Mesoamerican art, Ghidroah has other meanders all over him but none are explictly the step fret aside from here), with there also being two trapeze/trapezoidal shapes trailing off the back of them. You can probably draw a connection bewtween the shields, war, and Ghidorah again with him being violent but really I think the chimalli earrings are just there to look cool and "Aztec-y"
So overall, there's a lot of intentional references to destruction, lightning, and violence/war in Aztec symbolism with the Vinyl's design. It's pretty well done and I'm impressed by it, especially in comparsion to the Aztec Godzilla vinyl which has way, way less such references.
If you want I can also post a list of papers and publications about Xiuhcoatl iconography, I dug some of them up I just need to get rid of the duplicates.
4/4 for now

The Super7 ReAction Figure line has almost completed the entire Showa era and started doing Heisei era figures. I wish they would finish the last few Showa figures before doing any more Heisei stuff.
I know the line is overpriced, but I'm happy to have smaller figures and we're getting a full roster

I wound up getting a copy of Final Battle Mechagodzilla, with the main tail tip broken off, it can't switch to the drill tail. So, before I do something stupid, does anyone know if the original Monsterarts Mechagodzilla's tail tip used the same kind of connection or if it was a single piece? Or, how to remove the broken peg from inside the peg hole?
