Between Dramatic Capture Series, Masterpiece Movie Series NEXT, Overgear, and New Legends, are you glad that Takara is picking up the slack and fixing Hasbro's slop?

I'm not asking for it to be perfect, just... can we hide his sideburns better?
also, has anyone ever consciously noticed... because the real vehicle has like one-third the mass of the robot mode in the toy, does the toy then visibly have out-of-scale vehicle kibble?

It's literally just a nicer repaint of the already existing SS Jetfire. The hands have always been like that. You'll just have to hope that they remake Jetfire once they remake Optimus first.

Have you not noticed that we're getting a Titan Class Grimlock as a redo of the old Leader Class Grimlock from 8 years ago? Yeah HasTak are now going to start redoing a bunch of older SS toys. The leaks say we're getting a Leader Class redo of the first movie Optimus Prime.

I don't see why OP has a human looking gun when he's clearly not human and a SciFi gun would look better in both modes.
Also a small gun conversion would be great.
Or options to add a smaller gun Transformer.

Titans Return had an amazingly stacked roster of deluxes. So many wonderfully fun toys, and if you ponied up for the Legends figures they had great decos too.

I got this guy for $10 without his cane from a thrift shop years ago. I think I combined him with Optimus one time and never tried again, the Legends RotF guys are way more satisfying and quick to combine.

Barring some shitty IDWness in the designs here and there, there were excellent toys all around. The Titanmaster integration between the different size classes, working cockpits, and separate purchasable heads that came little dudes that double as weapons or combined creatures made for such a cool line, man.

You’re retarded. These were very light. As much as I don’t like the current Deluxe price, I say they’re at least a bit denser feeling. Compare current Quickstrike and Venin to even Tarantulas from Legacy who felt like picking up air.
So TLDR, while the price has gone up, at least they’re slightly denser at the moment

Got Amalgamous some days ago and there's something that baffles me about it. I was expecting to have way more freedom when rearranging his parts, but there's a design choice that limits creativity a lot, and it's something so stupid and easily avoidable that I don't understand why they din't think about it. The thing has a lot of 5mm holes, and that's great... but what's the point when most of his components don't have pegs? Most of them are in the body part, but every single piece should have at least one peg, that would make the number of configurations rise exponentially. It feels way too restricted for something whose selling point should be "build whatever you want with it".
Nonetheless he passed the dinosaur test, so I guess he's alright.

Cyberworld shit was on Clearance on my Walmart and I decided to try them
(got Scorponok for $18, Galvatron for $6, and Megatron for $4)
I forgot how much I had fun with toy gimmicks and the simplistic transformation makes them fun to just fiddle around with. The articulation is not great but I've had more fun with Cyberworld Galvatron than most figures geared toward COLLECTORS. And now that I know there are some really awesome ones coming out later,( Scourge, Shockwave, Soundwave), I don't regret getting them at all.

This isn't difficult. A "redo" is when Hasbro decides to take another swing at making a toy of a character. Sometimes this can be a retooled version of a previous mold (such as the Siege toys for Springer and Shockwave getting extensively remolded for SS86), but more often it's just a whole new attempt at a toy. For example, SS86 Thundercracker is a redo of a character who most recently had gotten a toy in Earthrise. It's a different mold with a different aesthetic, but it's still Hasbro making a new attempt at a mainline toy based on the same guy.
So a redo could be an old mold retooled, or an entirely new mold. The main thing is that it's Hasbro releasing a new toy of the same character.

Take top left, top right and lower left pics
Now darken the windows and windshield just a bit

Color the Red Bicep section just past the elbow
And turn the little lights under Front Bumper Grey like the Cartoon model

Hmm... Got ideas on how we'll ever get static, non-separating versions of the Armada Skyboom Shield and Requiem Blaster someday? Because if you ask just about anyone, wanting to find the combining versions amount to either "buy the third-party versions" or "look for the originals."
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11730703
Another Prima Artifact. But if we give each of the individual components of Nexus Prime a piece of the Cyber Caliber, one of the components has to be the Skyboom Shield. The other components would be the Chaos Edge, Omni Saber, Terminus Blade, and probably the Proton Spear (if the rest of Onyx Prime's spear in his toy isn't already said Artifact).

>New one looks better, it has more sculpted detail
The aesthetics of these new animated figures don't make sense because they're just sticking the animated character's head and smooth, flat front section onto a blocky G1 base with more sculpted detail and it all clashes too much. There's no consistent aesthetic with any of these animated figures because they have no idea what they want to be and it suffers for it.
Old one looks way better due to the unified aesthetic

2010 Lugnut and Lockdown were fine. Back then they took those designs and reimagined them so they would have a consistent design aesthetic. These new animated figures have the same issue as the prime figures where they feel like halfhearted attempts to try and fit the animated aesthetic with the current blocky generations slop but because that's all they know how to do they can't actually create a real aesthetic out of it.
>>
>>
>>
>>11730730
They could have heads that matched but everyone shat their diapers over the good looking Prime updates and so Hasbro jurt pastes the unfitting head on and the barking seals that the fans are clap and go "it looks like thing I know it's so much better now!!"

>>11730348

I'm always willing to shit on Hasbro's retarded decisions but I've never gotten the extreme dickriding Takara gets, even when they're to blame for designing the figures. (after all, I've read people trying to reduce Hasbro's participation to just an ideas guy). Sure, I guess I can buy some design issues being up to budget cuts pushed by the american side, but other baffling design decisions are entirely the fault of the Takara designers.

What is the most successful way to recreate the G1 waist "underwear" in your opinion?
>Upper thighs have waist detail that rotate with the leg (SS86 Megatron, SS86 Hot Rod, Legacy Gears, SS86 Dinobots, etc.)
>Waist is one/two loin flap(s) that conceal round upper thighs connected directly to T-shaped waist (SS86 Optimus, SS86 Ironhide/Ratchet, SS86 Soundwave, Earthrise Seekers, etc.)
>Waist has no flaps, thighs visibly connect to T-shaped waist (SS86 Jazz, Netflix Bumblebee, SS86 Ultra Magnus, SS86 Kup, etc.)
>>
>>11730767
>>11730779
the prime updates really were bad, though. cliffjumper is the only one that feels successful enough but the others only barely resemble the characters they represent to the point that they feel like phoned-in recolors of different characters rather than the ones they're supposed to be

So the old Busou Shinki/modern girlpla thing where the thighs are attached to an armature inside the body that swings down and dislocates, rather than connecting to the hip, which is free-floating? I guess that's one way to do it.

Thinking about it critically, Magmatron might be a better attempt at Nexus Prime's main theme than the official Nexus Prime himself. If we got a Jet/Helicopter, Speed boat/submarine, and tank/truck/train for Nexus in the same vein as Magmatron, I think we all would have been more pleased.

Also, what sucks is that Powerglide's alien mask only fits him and him alone, and there's no way to fit said mask to anyone else because of custom pegs, as Powerglide has a rotating face.

I will admit I am a optimus prime slut and I had a big fondness for the G1 toy but legacy G1 prime is fun. Nice update to the classic transformation, solid possibility, great light piping for the eyes, 2 guns! He is a fantastic desk fiddle former. Only real complaints is he really needs some paint or toyhax stickers to make the details pop, the pegs on his guns can be odd as they and his hands are painted and some may prefer him to be in a bigger size class.

Damn that's a shame, I assume the wheels leak plasticizers or something? Does this effect other parts on legacy prime or does the melting mean the tires damage other plastics/toys they rub up against?
I have had mine out on a shelf or on my desk since I got him and if I do store hin he will go into a baggie by himself like the rest of my stuff. Wonder if I should start putting a pin hole in baggies to let them off gas.

He really is excellent and I should grab the Legacy Optimus too at some point. G1 toy Optimus has such an iconic look, but I can't bring myself to spend money on the missing link and, as you said, the beauty of the cheaper toys is that you actually aren't afraid to play with them. And if we aren't playing with our toys, then what the fuck are any of us even doing here?
>>11731434
Seriously and where the hell is my white SS86 already?
>>
>>
>>11731524
The tires don't affect the rim/sliver wheels, only the blue plastic that composed the legs.
>>11731509
I think it will slowly get back to normal but the surface affected will not be unmarred. Not a big deal because most of the contact points are rather hidden.
I have my deluxe G1 prime taped with paper masking tape around the contact points. It should work as the tire melting issue only came into being with direct contact going from past experiences.
>>11731530
The answer is yes.
...
Even the Missing link primes do this. Not a big problem because the g1 design the tires don't get in contact with anything BUT...
having both the cartoon and toy version, I forgot which one, when in cab mode, the under carriage of the arms will touch the tire if you don't line up thing 100%
Hell even the earlier reissue G1 hound, when I open it, the tire have already ate through the paint/plastic on the outer side the arm because that side would be facing next to the rubber wheels.

but man, the tfw2005 posts about the reveal have got to be the most retarded thing I've ever seen. Because the figure was revealed with a limited exclusivity thing for Hasbro China so many lead-poisoned troglodytes on the forums were thinking it was a Hasbro asia exclusive thing and not a mainline release, even after it was explained to them. I dont see how anyone is excited for these.
Were at the stage now were people are fucking stupid enough to pay Hasbro 300-400 for a combiner that would of been 100 if sold in stores.
Then we get the lies of 'stores wouldn't stock it so you had to pay the haslab tax' yet is actually Hasbro just didnt want to sell it in stores because just like their 'selects' line this is designed to fleece people.
These look awful to boot. They look like 30 dollar kos. Hasbro TFs already suffer from hollowed out legs/arms and waists but these just look like simplified kos.
The leg bots have wide shins that dont fold inwards, liozack is too small, the arm jets look like reused combiner wars aerial bots.

Sour grapes how? I gave up on this bullshit of a scam Hasbro is running.
I only collect mps now.
I have moon studio raiden for $300 all boxed and practically brand new. Has diecast parts and is a much bigger scale.
Yet hasbro are charging more for a toy that looks like a simplified ko and can anyone trust Hasbro after the recent shit with their factories and cutting corners?
Because I'm sure everyone is happy with cyclonus's grey parts turning brown. Same with soundwave and others

As a long term MP/3P collector, you're basing it off the price of a discounted used figure and not the actual cost. by that logic, I could luck out and get Haslab Liokaiser for like $60 and consider it a great value if that happened.
$300 won't even get you two of most of the newer MP scale combiner limbs these days.

Maybe it’s just me and my dumb financial illiterate hind-brain, but I feel like people always judge the prices of figures without accounting for the diminishing purchasing power of the dollar as inflation increases over time. (And to be clear, economically speaking, that’s normal and it’s supposed to be doing that.)
Like yeah, I remember when Voyagers were $20, but 20 bucks could get you a lot more in general back then.
(And hopefully you’re income is also at least keeping pace with inflation, so $20 is also easier to come by.)

1) I don't really get it either, but I don't care about them as characters
2) if released at mass retail, they'd be smaller and sold as 7 deluxes.
That's about $200
Another very real possibility is, like the constructicons, they'd be sold with the torso being a commander class 2 pack, which would be 90 bucks instead of 56. So around $230
Which is waaaaay closer to what they're actually paying for.
3) mass retail doesn't just have to sell, it has to sell BETTER than other options. And something that takes up a commander slot and 5 deluxes means putting an actual main combiner, one that showed up in America, their primary market, on hold, or waiting until 2029 to release figures as a combiner, one that'll 100% sell worse than any other combiner
And that's IF they don't do abominus, or predaking, or piranacon
So yeah, people are willing to spend more because the odds that they'll get another shot at it is extremely low.
The mere fact that they were willing to do deathsaurus and liokaizer at all after the disaster that was combiner wars version shows hasbro at least feels there's SOME demand, even if this was the best way to get it to market.

Hearing the Hasbro CEO say that the new prices are unrelated to tariffs and that they won't lower them even if tariffs are removed and/or they get their tariffs refund was wild. Let's see how long the size classes survive. I've pretty much passed on everything this year or gotten stuff at huge discounts. After I complete the 86 seekers and Bruticus, I'll almost cut my transformers spending to nothing.
The only things that could pull me back are the Powermasters, Sky Garry and Grandus. I doubt we'll get them anytime soon.

covid fuckin broke them, they're having to spend a lot more now to make sure they have a dynamic supply chain and that's the main reason for the price increases.
They probably just put off the price increases during the inflation surge to sustain sales, then started increasing the moment they saw inflation slowing down

what >>11732768 said.
Legacy OP also comes with two guns, so one for Devastation OP if you decided to grab him. Plus he has 5mm ports on the shoulders and legs and feet so you can do weaponizer stuff with the original design (if you care)
Legacy OP, also, in my personal opinion; updates the classic design in a way that works well. The forearms are shortened and made chunkier instead of having the skinny issue in the center. And instead of having the cool but kinda clunky truck-back fins on the shoulders with a completely hollow back, the back fins have been turned into an actual head-hiding backpack which fills out the back as well.
He's a very nice figure for the cost. I hope hasbro re-releases him in the Walmart retro line with the earthrise trailer and the centurion pack roller in a classic-styled box

Having all six of the "main" ER Seekers I gotta be honest, they do look good together. They're not perfect and I am interested to see how SS86 Thundercracker compares when he gets in but I do like them. If the SS86 mould completely blows me away I MIGHT swap out the main three but the coneheads are staying for sure.
Also whilst I wish she had more retooling, Slipstream doesn't deserve the hate she gets. Nice little toy.
(Pardon the overexposed photo, still getting the hang of OpenCamera. I do have a proper digital camera, should probably stop being lazy and use it.)

Nah, even in '86 there were one off female characters that had more to them then Arcee had in both the movie and season 3-4. Arcee's issue was that she could never settle in any particular character type so there wasn't a clear cut version of the character that future iterations can build upon or change.

it's crazy because the actual authentics line dropped the prime changers (not cyberworld prime changers, these are deluxes) Megatron, and this Megatron is a downscaled ss86. Huh???
also prime smokescreen looks better than 86 jazz and the ER Datsuns

You see that deluxe over there, Jean Luc? You need it, you have to have it, it BELONGS in your collection, in fact your shelf can never be complete without it.
That'll be $45.99 + tax and shipping, Picard.

I'm going to say something controversial here... I don't dislike Legacy Bulkhead.
I've always looked at it as what if G1 Bulkhead instead of a redone Prime Bulkhead. Same with Legacy Knock Out.

What other way was there ever to look at it? Primefags will cry about how it says "Prime" on the box which apparently magically makes it so, but they place greater emphasis on a fucking box then on what their own eyes are telling them. They also forget that that was a marketing decision and not the designer's. I agree, he's a nice figure.
Knockout is ok, but he literally appeared in a G1 comic in that body so again, there was precedent.

I usually just headcanon the CHUG universe as it's own thing, heavily G1 based but everyone else is running around there too. I don't park the figures to any specific universe.
>>

>>11734433

IIRC there was a planned sequel series to to the WFC netflix show for legacy that was literally the multiverse continuation of all the bots from various universe coming in to help fight unicron but since WFC bombed it was crapped so I do think that's what they're supposed to be G1 versions of the Prime and Animated characters etc.
>>
>>
>>11734484
I imagine Hasbro doesn't put that much stock to what universe the characters belong as long as people buy the figures. If anything, they might be encouraged to deliberately blur the lines so as not to put off any potential buyers

And fucking straxus was supposed to be the main villain of season 1/legacy (untitled). Straxus' design in idw2(019) is straight up his scrapped legacy design, and there was even box art drawn for it.
But then they canned the series and since there was no series to explain why straxus looked VASTLY different; well, they quickly threw together the new transmetal 2 Megatron to fill his slot, since updating an older design = easy

yeah. The legacy straxus design is just kinda trash for straxus. Would be a neat new character/repurposing though, especially if he came with the cape.
>>11734728
Yeah, probably.. although a part of me wishes that we did get it. I like seeing the toy designs animated. + there was a chance straxus could get the prime wars overlord treatment and get a funny and decent voice acting job done.

Such an awesome dude, even if I never read the comics he was from. I was surprised to find that his alt mode is actually accurate to the source material, too - I always assumed he was supposed to be a tank because that's the alt mode every other figure of him had.

Man, I really want some extras of certain transformers weapons to fuck around with. I hate that third parties can't just sell weapon packs with cool shit, it always so garbage upgrade kits with tons of filler bullshit.
Like the overgear figures. Yes I want those giant guns for my transformers, or MPG Super Ginrai's super conductor rifles with that sexy pivot.
>>
>>11734851
i think third party weaponizer parts are a huge untapped market. instead of MP or legends scale updates just do some deep cut character update in gens scale with a shit ton of 5mm items. I wonder if there's some modular system that uses 5mm... i've heard lego technic is close.
>>
>>11734851
I've seen some weapon models on those 3D printing STL sites. If you have no interest in investing in a resin printer there are sites that will ship you the completed print for about the price of an upgrade kit.

Man, this comic talk makes me realize that.. if Transformers completely shits the bed on earth then the G.I. Joe comic will also be screwed over. I'm sure everything is planned in advance but still, Robert Kirkman's writing on TF is negatively affecting the writing of joes and even probably the unreleased mask series by proxy. Sucks.

He's one of the many highlights of the Marvel era, the Marvel UK comics (you get even more stories compared to the US version) are well worth the read, as well as the prequel and sequel stuff written by Furman and published by IDW

That was when they scrapped the idw license too.
Idw was introducing straxus specifically to explain his legacy look.
It's pretty wild when you realize they repurposed the design into trashmaster.
A lot of signs that jhiaxus started as non-wrecked idw straxus before that got scrapped too, though that might've been for completely different reasons. Normal idw straxus was heavily based on the wfc seekers, so they mightve shifted gears the moment they decided they'd start gamer edition.
Hasbro gets very tight lipped about "cancelled" designs cause they often cannibalize parts for another unrelated design later

I'm hoping we get a new Thunderwing soon, preferably Leader class. At this point, he's the only G1 Decepticon leader without a new update (that dinky old deluxe doesn't count). I'm still surprised we never got a Thunderwing repaint from Titans Return Sky Shadow.
